A relatively simple way to make the game a little more realistic: add arteries to the animal biology. Small targets, but considered a vital organ, with a kill time of several seconds when it is the only thing hit. The desire for this is mostly out of frustration when my aim is a little off and I hit a deer's neck instead of the lung. It is considered a mere flesh wound by the game, despite it being the connection to the brain. While we're at it, maybe add additional injury effects for added immersion, such as paralysis from spine hits, impeded movement with hits to the leg bones. They would not be counted as vital organs, but still make debilitating targets, so there is still the incentive to aim for the vitals for a quick kill, but it isn't always a long hike for the harvest when you fail to get an immediate kill.

These are in WoTH so i agree, if it’ realistic it makes sense yk, animals do run slower and have different animations when it comes to hitting leg bones, tho spine shots especially spinal cord shots should not be an instant kill, instead they should be as you say, paralysis, they won’t move but they won’t be dead
i’d prefer if cotw added paralysis for spine shots so you’d get an extra chance to save ur kill before it dies honestly, in the past ive messed up a couple rares & dimes because of it (especially with bow shots) and it’s so sad😭
That could be the extra benefit, so an extra chance for a right shot and realism
Tbh if you hit an animal in the spine it’s more likely to take out its back legs. I spined a doe a few years ago and she got up and tried crawling away with her front legs. It’s graphic but it would be realistic.
Adding that would definitely bump up the age rating, its too of a graphic sight for some
I know, that’s why I doubt they’ll ever add it. It’s similar to why they didn’t add an animation of the gators death rolling the player.
I’m just thinking that if you spine it it should just lie there not crawling away bleeding like you said even though it’s more realistic. What is most unrealistic is that they die from just a spinal cord shot
So fully realistic injury would be a bit too graphic, but maybe a hit to the spine could have a near instant death timer but count as a non-vital organ for purposes of the harvest check. Maybe also add mercy killing as a mechanic where if you follow up an incapacitating but not instantly lethal shot with a close range vital hit even after the animal is down, at least within a short enough time, it counts as a vital organ hit?
i think this is how it should be
