I still play on a old xobox one disk version of the game but im am about to get a Xbox series x which is digital copy of the game should I get the digital version now before i switch consoles and will I lose my saved game

Your progress in the game is only saved locally on the console you're playing on and in the Xbox cloud storage tied to your Xbox profile if you are connected to the Xbox network when playing.
Due to this, if you switch to a new Xbox console, your previous progress will automatically be downloaded from the cloud as long as you connect to the Xbox network and log in to the same Xbox account you played on previously.

If you're switching to a digital-only Xbox, you will indeed need to buy the digital version of the game to play it there, however, it should not matter whether you buy it before or after the switch.
