I think it would be a great and kinda sick idea to make a map that is like the old world. pre ice age or flood (whichever, you believe in)
This make can have alot of what people would want like snakes, sabertooth tigers, you can through in mammoths, Komodo dragons and other prehistoric animals but you can only use prehistoric weapons like very select gunpowder or a recurve bow to hunt these animals,, and no great ones but just larger animals with very unique tropys like a mammoth tusks to hang.

we can also add smaller or even larger dinos if possible to increase animal numbers but you HAVE TO HAVE THE DODO BIRD

#

maybe im crazy but this would get hella money and be a sick map

Well.. a Mauritius map would be very, very boring, so this gets a thumbs down from me.

Oh and a lot of the listed species didn’t live in the same countries/continents.

I'd love a whole game dedicated to prehistoric hunting

I love prehistoric animals and I would love that idea in the graphics of the hunter, but the selection of animals should be done more carefully than just randomly sabertooths next to komodos and dinosaurs.
I would rather go for a map with pleistocene animals only with two or three 'regions' we got like in Sumatran map, that one would be more eurasian themed while other american, maybe third african or australian.
So we can have more variety of species but not contradicting to each other in one place.

I think a separate game for this kind of thing would be better than a map in cotw

American-like region:

  • Giant north american bison (bison latiforns)
Biggest bison, very impressive long horns.
  • Stag moose (cervalces skotti)
Very unique antlers but can be put off the list if cervalces latifrons and/or sinomegaceros pachyosteus is added or vice versa.
  • Sabre tooth tiger (smilodon populator)
Could be valued by size and fangs length, should work like tigers in Sundarpatan map.
  • Woolly mammoth (mammuthus primigenius) ?
The most iconic pleistocene animal that would be valued for tusks, but we have no animal this size in the game so I don't think this would be do-able.
  • Zygolophodon (mammut borsoni)
The longest tusks but the same size related problem like with wooly mammoth.
  • Dire wolf (aenocyon dirus) ?
Popular animal that can be easily remodeled but offers nothing extra than other wolves in game already.
  • Short-faced bear (arctodus simus) ?
Interesting bear that can be easily remodeled but offers nothing extra than other bears in game already.
  • Xenosmilus or megantereon
    Alternative carnivore cat replacing cougar
  • Titanis walleri
Could be interesting change to hunt a giant bird

(had to wait 2 minutes until sending the second part)

Eurasian-like region:

  • Broad-fronted moose (cervalces latifrons)
The biggest antler growing animal of the list, would be easy to remodel from a moose. But can be one of animals that gets off the list.
  • Irish elk (megaloceros giganteus)
Second biggest and most popular, could be remodeled from wapiti/elk.
  • Bush-antlered deer (eucladoceros)
Very impressive unique antlers. But can be one of animals that gets off the list.
  • Sinomegaceros pachyosteus
Very impressive unique antlers. Can be one of animals that gets off the list but I personally think it would be a shame.
    -Sardinian deer (praemegaceros cazioti)
I can imagine it to be like fallow deer but with special antlers.
  • Cave lion (panthera leo spelaea) ?
Popular animal that would be easily remodeled and worked like lions or wolves in the game and would be slightly more different from the lions in the game (with possible remodel of the african ones along this update) however maybe it's not too original to be included.
  • Elasmotherium ?
The version with the big horn could be terrifying if it goes to attack when it sees the player, but if we needed a certain amount of animals on the map and it would be too many already, I would not include this one.
  • Wooly rhinoceros ?
More popular than elasmotherium, and the reasoning here is the same as with elasmotherium aka I would exclude it if needed.

Somewhere I would love to add one of prehistoric horse species bcs I personally like them but I guess there wouldn't be much to hunt it for except fur color.
Same for why I didn't add any camelid.

(that's all I could think of for now, I might have forgot some cool addition)

Id rather this be some other game separate from cotw

I think we all meant to have the same COTW experience just with different animals, not entirely different game.
I don't want to sound pushy or something but I don't think it's THAT bad idea,
considering that unrealistic "tiger striped deer" and "prehistoric elk antlered great one fallow deer" is already in this game while nobody is complaining about it, why a prehistoric deer inspired model put in a DLC map nobody is forced to add in the game would be such a big problem?
🤷‍♂️ 😅
