What are the chances that if console technology gets really good next generation, that you can make a game just for those consoles, and powerful enough pc's to make a video that would merge Hunter and Angler into one game? How epic would it be to hunt and fish in the same game? Also maybe have some vehicles that can toe some boats on a trailer that we can actually use in the lakes, and River systems?

Not trying to be overly critical .... but never saw or see the appeal of having both hunting sim and a fishing sim in the same game ....

Now if its a survival game I can see having limited hunting and fishing mecahnics in the same game .... RDR2 is a game that does this well .... But I wouldn't call RDR2 either a hunting or fishing simulation ..... It has both hunting and fishing in the context of living and surviving in an old west world ....

But a true simulation is different because it seeks to capture of simulate a certain activity in much finer detail .... To simulate or capture the details of both hunting and fishing in the same game would be too complex .... because they are very different activities ....

and in the end would do an injustice to both ....

If you want a game that does both reasonably well then try RDR2 .... Or some other game in the survival genre ....

Honestly, a Hunting game with a full survival system in itself would be more than enough.

As in, you need shelter, water, food, and protection from weather/animals.

Carry a tent for weathering storms, a fire starter kit, supplies, alongside your rifle. Add dog food and a water bowl if you have a dog with you.

Your "missions" are simple things, establish an outpost, lay in meat, survive the winter. Hunt for contracts like meat or fur, livestock protection,

Before they think about doing anything involving fishing again they need to seriously consider whether or not they did their absolute best on the angler.

The animations were rigid, you could practically see a fish from anywhere no matter the water quality, and the hook system (while relatively simple) doesn’t reflect fishing at all.

Oh and the fish variations oh my lord. They left that game in such a sorry state of disrepair.
