As a cotw player and lover I fully believe medved is a top 5 map of all time… but she was the first dlc map and therefore needs some major love. This letter is a letter of care and a letter of joy.

  • First section is going to be ambience reworks and making the map something prettier. Above all else she needs herself to get the dynamic snow that came with Askiy, part of the reason that Askiy works so well is that it feels real, and dynamic snow is the first thing that would help medved get up to there. Secondly, she could benifit from some touch ups in seams and other terrain that is showing its age.
  • backfills. Medved needs some major additions to her catalogue to help stand out once more among the newer maps. The first species that is a must have is the mountain hare, a lagomorph would fit extremely well and a backfill of mountain hare would be perfect for this . Following that, Siberian roe deer need to be added (along with a rework to European roe deer). These deer would inhabit the lakes and coast that the musk deer does not. Lastly red fox could make an appearance on this map as a sort of opportunity kill and if given a good layout, another viable map to grind them on.
  • remasters: this map is filled with the old map weirdness with models and appearances. The first animal that desperately needs a remaster is the Siberian musk deer, as they look NOTHING like they do in real life. Major shame considering how pretty they are. Next up is the Eurasian lynx. While not the worst model they haven’t aged well at all, and with how good EW can render fur now, it would be nice to see our fluffy kitty cats. Lastly mountain reindeer are in a DESPERATE state of being the last of the caribou trio to get a remaster. They are the worst model on the map and one of the worst in the game.
  • new g1. The top 4 contenders for this slot is, roe deer, reindeer, wild boar, and brown bear. All four of these species are heavily requested to receive g1s at some point.

I absolutely agree with you other than the Snow Geese. They don't live in Siberia except on Wrangel Island, which is not near where Medved-Taiga is said to be. However, there are lots of other water fowl that could be added.

As for the roe deer, Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus) are a different species that what we have in the game (Capreolus capreolus), Siberian roe have longer antlers. I would love to see them in the game!

I get that reindeer and other animals on the map could use reworks and probably will get them too but is it just me that thinks the reindeer has a certain beauty to it even though it’s on par with the graphics on the rest of the animals? I don’t think for one that all old animals look bad just because the newer ones has better graphics. I’m just curious if i’m alone in this thought so i’m not saying that the reindeer shouldn’t be remodeled
