As stated,my idea is to hopefully get my plan seen to have the awm implemented to cotw,it is a high powered precision rifle capable of firing .300 Winchester or .338 lapua through conversion,i feel that this would be a great Segway into bringing a conversion system to make already existing guns in game that realistically are capable of having conversions get the opportunity so that players can have more originality with their loadouts and possibly have more modifacations like barrel length, stock types, and attachments like grips, suppressors, or bipods instead of only having scopes, which brings another topic of more sight options, though not the point of this, and not just the awm being conversion capable but another gun with a known conversion kit being the ar-15 which can have a 12.7mm conversion, that is all I hope this gets taken into good consideration
#Gun idea: the awm and to finally introduce conversions to weapons

a 15lb precision rifle for… 350 whole yards…
Actually the furthest effective range is 1800 yards with the .338
This would be a great idea for all weapons to be more customized, some could have suppressors that lowers power for example but also sound yk, have that plus and minus style to it like in other games. I think it could be cool, this could introduce tripods, muzzle brakes, chokes for shotguns and so on
Exactly why I feel that the awm or ar-15 would be a perfect Segway, the awm especially since its a decently customizable platform
And as for weight that depends on which conversion kit you have
Render distance is 350yds, thanks though
I'm saying realism standpoint and maybe on that point the render distance could be raised a bit to compensate for a lack in the range the awm needs to fulfill its name
It can’t.
And from a realism standpoint, you aren’t taking a AWM into the bush.
You never know, people hunt mountain tops for mountain goats or rams which would make hunting a hell of a lot easier to get them from longer range
So ideally an awm could be brought into a hunting setting, and you dont really need to have super long range to do a good job
I’d love to see some evidence of such because the AWM isn’t the apex of rifles, far from it especially not hunting rifles. It’s a mid platform at absolute best.
Goat and sheep hunting is very much reliant on being light but also certainly very sturdy and the AWM platform is just too much to carry up a mountain, I don’t care what chassis you use.
Awm a 14-15 pound gun,id rather carry that up and down a mountain than carry a 200 pound goat down
You’ll be carrying that 14lb gun much longer than that goat.
Think of it like this:
mountain hunting with a 15lb rifle is like defending your house with a semi automatic belt fed M60.
Thats a wild comparison
It’s really not, and it’s ok if you don’t have much experience with this stuff.
I’d like to mention, you aren’t even hoisting 200lbs directly on your back, more like 45-70lbs in a few short trips.
Still carrying a ton more weight on your shoulders than 15 pounds
Overall you're still carrying 150 pounds+ of muscle
You seem to compressing two very different things into one idea. There’s a pretty big difference between “peak instantaneous load vs total cumulative load”. Carrying such a heavy rifle over multiple long days (of which there are many mountain hunting) the 14–15 lb rifle adds up to more total weight moved very quickly.
Although it gains over time its still more bearable
On top of that, altitude.
You’re already oxygen starved, your heart rate is maxed, and you need every ounce of energy just to move uphill. A short 40-70lb meat packout is brutal, but it’s over way quicker.
I kinda gotta agree with Liam on this. Thinking from a game sense, this could very easily become the heaviest weapon in the game, and even if it has a conversion kit it would be outcompeted by other weapons such as the .338 Tsurugi or the Valgarda .375.
And though that may be true, people do a lot to condition themselves into being capable of doing that very thing thats physically strenuous
I'm not saying I would be at all capable of doing such a thing but people who are prepared train also as I said way earlier,as long as you shoot an animal from the bottom of said mountain you can leave the gun behind while you climb up to pack up the animal, not like someone would come by and take the gun
It’s near impossible to condition for that, the human body has its limits.
I beg the question, are you a hunter? And if you are, have you mountain hunted?
Sadly not yet but I plan on it eventually
Even people who train all year to get in shape for hunting Goats and Sheep get worn out while they’re up there. We are not built to be climbing mountains like that, especially not with 50+ pounds on our back. I train for months every year to get in shape for Elk and Bear hunting and I still get winded and worn out after carrying all that weight for hours.
That’s why hunting rifles usually below 9lbs. 10+ lbs might not sound like a lot but it adds up fast. No point in adding more weight for little to no additional benefit.
My first hunting rifle was a 12 pound 7mm and despite me being in my literal prime when I used it (aged 16 - 23) it wore me out after some time.
Understandably so,I do understand that the weight adds up in due time,i just didn't think much of it at the time, now that it been made clearer to me I see how it would definitely be an issue
Don’t get me wrong, an AMW would be cool, I just don’t really see it holding up against guns like the Tsurugi .338 or Valgarda .375 seeing as the AMW would be incredibly heavy in game.
Fair enough but then you gotta realize that people carry the 470 nitro when safari hunting in some of the places where its hot at all times of the day and although that's ten pounds of weight its as mentioned, hot which makes air quality worse and oxygen becomes thinner at least with a mountain top its cooler making breathing feel less like you're dying every breath despite the air being thinner at such high altitude
They aren’t lugging a .470 up a mountain.
Safari hunting is close quarters and you usually aren’t carrying a rifle for multiple days on end without stopping.
Still, you're usually carrying the gun for hours in scorching heat when safari hunting
I have carried more weight than ten pounds up hills in 80ish degree weather, dont remember what I was carrying but it was miserably heavy
Short bursts of movement in hot weather. The rifle is heavy relative to the environment, but you usually move in intervals vs continuous movement for hours over steep, uneven terrain with very little oxygen.
Doubles are also far less cantankerous to carry than a long, awkward bench gun not even slightly designed for trekking with.
Cantankerous?I've never heard that word before
But yes I do understand that the awm would be a rather unconventional gun
Rather unconventional is quite the understatement
Best word i could come up with😭
Saw a Video a few years ago where a Guy shot a goat in the turkish Mountains at 1300 Yard with a .338 Lapua precision rifle. So its been done. But its Not really a Common Thing
Every thing I looked for on YouTube was nothing related to an awm despite me looking for awm usage in the vids,so thank you
.338 Lapua as in the cartridge itself is fine. There are expanding options, I’ve checked.
It’s the platforms that are the problem. Way too heavy.
But there are lighter options for .338 Lapua. I mean, the TFM is RIGHT THERE.
We also already have one ingame which was a mistake imo.
I feel like the current 338 is pretty much an awm, i know its actually a sako, but they certainly favor. Either way a render increase is way overdue, we need 1km, and zeroing rework would need to come with it.
I personally would say 600-700 would be good for render and maybe zeroing could have up to 400
If were sticking with the Lapua I suggest this
I am for complete customisation. Let me recreate my Savage 110 precision. But give me a penalty Like faster exhaustion
I dont think we need the awm & to be fair you can get the same chassis for a Remington. But what I do agree with overall is a weapon builder option (part/accessory slots) to further extend on gameplay & player utility/style. Aside from more caliber ammo options to hunt various game I'd love to see a selector to choose from various stocks, barrels, calibers, grips/bipod, muzzle attachments, etc. I would pay $29.99 for this option along with various ammo options for every caliber.
What's with the awm hate😭 also like I mentioned, there's guns already in game that are capable of firing different calibers like the zarza that fires 223 its an ar-15 platform which as mentioned can fire .50 with modification abd who wouldn't wanna fire 12.7mm at an animal just cause
DOWN WITH THE BEAVERS
Because it’s not a viable hunting rifle.
AR’s can shoot .50 Alaskan but not .50BMG.
.50 Alaskan is a viable cartridge, .50BMG is not.
Shooting from a UTV is not hunting.
.50 Beowulf would be my choice lol
Let's be honest, the idea of rifle having multiple calibers to choose from is great. But you really don't need an awm to do it.
Just about every rifle in the game come in multiple calibers irl with no visual changes.
Look at the Huntsman .270, it could be a .30-06,.35 Whelen,.25-06, or even a .338-06 because they're all based on the same .30-06 case the .270 was made from.
It they just displayed it as the Huntsman rifle in store and had a drop down menu of calibers to choose from it would solve the problem and give us more customization for our gear too
Logan LIKE MY POST OR I DISLIKE YOURS
This is exactly what I was hoping for with the woth ammo change update.
Instead the whole system got reworked and guns have felt weaker since.
Yup, they just messed up a decent system and made a lot of cartridges even weaker for no reason
The blackmail is crazy
@grave horizon where is it
Oh buddy, I would use an M60 for a home defense gun
Who wouldn't want to
New vehicles suggested
jam jam jam jam jam jam jam jam jam
I'd say I have pretty good experience with Machine Guns
jam jam jam jam jam jam jam
Actually never had that issue with these, the 249 did but I like 7.62 more
What gun is that
M240
American guns do NOT jam easy they built like jeeps, all terrain use also m240 a w
A lot do, coming from experience with 5.56
Being built like a jeep is a terrible example
Yeah,bad example
