Hi everyone, just wanted to share some thoughts about the roedeer in cotw. I’ve been playing for a while and really enjoy hunting different species, but I always feel like the roedeer don’t get the attention they deserve. They’re an important animal in Europe and super fun in real life, but in the game they feel kind of outdated compared to newer species.

Right now their models and antlers don’t have much variety, and their animations are a bit stiff. They also behave a little too predictably, which makes them less exciting to hunt after a while.

Some things that could really improve them:

  • Antler variety: More shapes and sizes so trophies feel rewarding and unique.

  • Behavior update: Make them more cautious and reactive.

  • Group dynamics: It’d be cool if females and young stuck together more often, instead of feeling random.

  • Calls and reactions: Updated sounds and maybe even seasonal behavior to make them feel more alive.

  • Visual refresh: Better models, fur, and animations to bring them up to par with newer animals.

I think a rework like this would make hunting roedeer much more fun and give players a reason to go after them! Thanks for reading!

Thanks for making this post, i do believe it will be remodeled next Europe map and i believe there will be a next since both european bison and wild boar also need reworks. Roe deer is the only one of those three that has been remodeled and could use an update. As for behaviour, roe deer aren’t very skittish animals i have encountered many in the wild and they are mostly curious and don’t flee far, so their behaviour in game is pretty realistic. Also all deer share the same movements, but these are cool ideas they could apply to all deer in the game
