I know we just got a snow map not too long ago…but hear me out on this one.

Alaska is big enough to have multiple reserves so why not have another one?

This reserve is going to take place during mid-winter near the place I have circled on the picture of Alaska.

Ahh yes, the species list…14 total. 11 New and 3 returners

Returners:

  • Snow Goose
  • Willow Ptarmigan
  • Moose

New:

  • Musk Ox (Class 9)
  • Polar Bear (Class 8)
  • Barren-Ground Caribou (Class 6)
  • Alaskan Tundra Wolf (Class 5)
  • Dall Sheep (Class 4)
  • Canadian Lynx (Class 3)
  • Arctic Fox (Class 2)
  • Wolverine (Class 2)
  • Snowshoe Hare (Class 1)
  • Arctic Ground Squirrel (Class 1)
  • Sandhill Crane (Class 1)

I could not think of a Firearm to pair with this reserve though. Thoughts?

My problem here is that waterfowl on a mid winter Alaska map just doesn't make sense. It hardly makes sense on Askiy Ridge as it is, even though that's my favorite reserve so far. Other than that, I like the list! Maybe a big bore lever action?

Like the .50 Alaskan?

Love the list. Ringed seals would go great on that coast

I feel like they could fit in as ambiance animals

#

Polar bear could be hunting them as a behavioral trait

When the bear is not hunting you down

Sorry but polar bear and muskox hunting will always be Canadian in my mind

You know

Instead of a rifle

What about a new Dog species?

#

Malamutes were historically used to distract bears

And I think Standard Poodles would be cool to see

#

If we have to go the gun route

Then a Ruger No1 would be my choice

Any caliber would work

#

Either that or a lever action chambered in .50-110

What about a .458 Winchester Garand?

As much as I want that, I think it would be a terribly unbalanced decision.

fringe pasture

Well what high caliber would be good?

I’d say a .338 but we have one

.45-70 has plenty of guns

#

.416 maybe?

sinful verge
#

Hell, one of the .338’s isn’t even a real gun!

fringe pasture
#

Maybe a .45-70 Rolling Block or Buffalo Rifle

Could also use the rimmed version (8x57mm IRS) in either a break action 2-shot rifle or a combination gun like the Grelck Drilling Rifle which is already in game.

I think 8MM Mauser could potentially be class 9?

Like how the .300 Mag & 7MM Mag are

But Idk

The other caliber I think could be added is .30-40 Krag

It’s a combination of many factors.

Still, I wouldn’t mind seeing Musk Ox come with an Alaska map, nor would I mind them coming with a Canada or Greenland map (seeing as Greenland is actually a viable map since we still have none of the Arctic Big Game yet).
