Welcome to the Sacramento river delta! This location in northern California is a major hotspot for small game, especially in the winter and the map could be somewhat similar to an American Salzwiesen with extensive marshes to house all the wintering waterfowl, as well as cornfields where you will find more geese than you could ever imagine, and even some more wooded areas for newly remodeled blacktail deer to hide in! So grab your waders and get out there!

Species List:

  • Ring-necked Pheasant - 1
  • California Quail (new) - 1
  • Wild Turkey (Rio Grande or Merriam) - 1
  • Wilson’s Snipe (new) - 1
  • Northern Pintail - 1
  • Mallard (rework) - 1
  • Gadwall - 1
  • Green-winged Teal - 1
  • American Wigeon (new) - 1
  • Cinnamon Teal - 1
  • Northern Shoveler (new) - 1
  • Blue-winged Teal (new) - 1
  • Snow Goose - 1
  • Canada Goose - 1
  • Greater White-fronted Goose (new) - 1
  • Black-tailed Jackrabbit (new) - 1
  • Nutria (new) - 2
  • Gray Fox - 2
  • Coyote (rework) - 2 (could change to class 3)
  • Black-tailed Deer (rework) - 4

Potential Species:

  • Scaup (Greater or Lesser) - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • Canvasback - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • (Common) Goldeneye - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • Bufflehead - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • Hooded Merganser - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • Wood Duck - 1 (a lot of ducks already)
  • Ross's Goose - 1 (very similar to Snow Goose, like mini version)
  • Cackling Goose - 1 (very similar to Canada Goose, like mini version)
  • Sandhill Crane - 1 (not legal to hunt in this area)
  • Chukar - 1 (better fit for a map where they’re native)
  • Brush Rabbit - 1 (could replace the jackrabbit)
  • American Badger - 2 (not hunted here)
  • Bobcat - 2 (not legal to hunt in this area)
  • Wild Hog - 5 (too big)
  • Tule Elk - 7 (too big)

Great Ones?
A great one turkey would be amazing, but Canada Goose or Mallard would be great as well!

New Outfit?
A new outfit with waders to go with this map would be great and really make you fit right in!

I've made a rough idea of what the map could look like, the light brown areas would be cornfields for the geese, the green-brown area is a flooded cornfield for ducks and geese as well as the nutria, the light green area is a more natural wetland for ducks, and the darker green area is a more wooded area. the mammals (other than nutria) and upland birds could move between the cornfields and forest

Yeah I agree, America definitely needs a break but if they are going to do more American maps this is the one I want the most

I have come up with a few interesting multimount ideas that could come with this park! Here they are:

Mini Me’s - 1 male Canada Goose, 1 male Snow Goose, 1 male Cackling Goose, 1 male Ross’s Goose

Imposter - 1 male or female Nutria, 1 female North American Beaver

Coyote and the Covey - 1 male Coyote, 1 male and 2 female California Quail

Ducks in a Row - 1 male of each duck on the reserve (American duck out)

Snipe Hunt - 1 female or male Gray Fox, 1 male Wilson’s Snipe

Lovebirds - 1 male and 1 female Sandhill Crane

I’d drop pheasant for chukar or some sort of dove, and then maybe add skunk, opossum, or badger as another non-bird target

#

I think I will keep the main species list as pheasants are much more common in the area and skunks and opossums are considered non game animals, but I will add chukar and badgers to the potential species list

#

Actually, I’ve changed my mind, there were kind of a lot of ducks so I replaced scaup with chukar

You should add tule elk, they are found really close near the Sacramento River delta, and they are also commonly found in other deltas and wetlands too ( plus we could finally get all the elk subspecies, which could be a really cool multimount)

I thought about it when I made the map, but since it’s a park not a reserve I think they’re too big, maybe a tiny population but there wouldn’t be much point

#

I can still add them to the potential species list though

I never knew about this concept its great but at the same time I dont think California should be without tule elk they are such a vital species here and are a popular game species

Dont get me wrong this thread is great but personally California has too much to offer to add it as a small game park
