There is a lot of potential for animals in a new reserve in such a location. There is a possibility for an Alpine Ibex Great One and many species backfills. I included some concepts for a few new species that are commonly requested in the community.

TERRAIN AND ENVIROMENT 🏞️

There is definetly huge potential in the terrain, enviroment and weather aswell. From rocky and snowy peaks of the Julian Alps and amazing rock formations to various azure blue lakes and rivers, such as the Triglav lakes and the river Soča in real life. The flora would be very diverse, from shrubs in the highlands to mixed and coniferous forests and forest openings with gorgeous flowers. The reserve would have both the lower and upper parts of the Alpine world in one. Some animals would be easier to find in the lower areas, some in the higher, making the hunting experience be diverse and immersive. There could also be a dynamic weather system like in the Yukon reserve, to simulate seasons or snowfall in certain regions. Some animals (like the Mountain Hare and Rock Ptarmigan) could change fur colors like they do in real life, depending on their location and current weather, making some fur types only discoverable in certain weather.

This reserve would be based on the real life Triglav National Park and its surroundings in north-eastern Slovenia.

The current map has the dot for Hirschfelden too close to where the dot for this reserve could be located, which means the dot for this reserve would need to be horribly far away from where the Eastern Alps (which are not that big) are in real life, so the dot for Hirschfelden would need to be moved westwards, which would be more accurate since the European Bison, present in Hirschfelden, only has populations in Western Germany, not where the dot for it is right now. Small thing but I will mention it anyway.

All of the photographs on this post were taken in the area this reserve would be based on (north-eastern Slovenia).

I will keep adding more pictures and information to this post, if anybody has questions, comments or opinions about this concept, please don’t hesitate to write them below.

Mission ideas include:

-Finding and harvesting an extremely large legendary Alpine Ibex (there are legends and myths about such an Ibex in the area in real life, the animal is often known as the “Goldhorn” and is considered to be uncatchable),

-Spotting, maintaining and observing an intoduced Lynx population. The area has been home to a successful and EU-awarded project to re-introduce Lynxes in real life (LifeLynx),

-Harvesting a lot of Brown Bears (they are causing problems with overpopulation in the area in real life),

-Traversing different named peaks and hunting certain game,

The outposts could be designed after Alpine Huts which would help the immersion. Me and many in the community have always loved custom outposts instead of the generic ones with the flag as the only difference.

I love this suggestion

I feel like an update for small, unhuntable animals is also needed and could drop with this map (like snow accumulation on animals’ backs with Askiy Ridge). Make them look nicer and be less unnatural (the Seagulls on Layton Lake and Hirschfelden can be spotted just sitting half clipped into the ground all the time and it kinda breaks the immersion for me). Some more could be added for each map! This map could have the Golden Eagle, various small songbirds that also inhabit the Eastern Alps or very small rodents like the vole. They could also make periodic sounds and scurry along the ground around you, making the world seem more real and a little less artificial.
