If we get Africa 2.0, it needs Elephants, Lions, Giraffes etc. Otherwise a lot of people will be upset. Something in South Africa or Tanzania would work better

hearty drift
#

too much work for now, we'd need an entire new lodge, weapons and class

#

and they'd need to do elephants justice in the sense where you cant just shoot them from 300 meters from a tripod, you need to be actually within less than 100 meters and shoot them through the nasal cavity to kill them at a reasonable rate

#

namibia would be a break from the typical savanna/grassland view people have of africa too... a south africa/tanzania map would work better as africa 3.0. but i can see lions being added to a namibia map too

#

people who want elephants and giraffes dont get just how enormous they are.. imo it would be better to give africa its love via maps with typical class 1-9 animals first, then later on add the elephants and giraffes

#

neither a giraffe or elephant would fit on the biggest plaques/platforms in saseka.. you could argue that MAYBE giraffes could fit on XXL but thats it

#

im not opposed to elephants or giraffes at all we just need to be reasonable with our expectations

"Its cruel"
"Why can't i shoot them from 300 meters"
"Why can i shoot them from 300 meters"
People will ALWAYS be upset

# wanton forum If we get Africa 2.0, it needs Elephants, Lions, Giraffes etc. Otherwise a lot o...

I'll be totally honest, I don't even wanna see elephants unless EW does them correctly

I (and likely plenty of others) will be really upset if the hypothetical elephant hunting turns out to just be "sit around on tripods and gun them down with ARs," if they were to add elephants, lots of things would NEED to change with the game:

  • elephants would need to have their ONLY ethical vital organ be the brain, as that is the only reliable way to quickly kill one irl without specific scenarios, luck, etc.

  • you need to approach them and get close enough for your target to have it turn and face you. This is because their skulls are too dense to shoot through, and you NEED a heavy hitting cartridge to punch through the trunk, nasal tissue, and reach the brain cavity and deal lethal damage to the brain

  • elephant alert, spooking, and aggressive behavior would need to be custom-tuned in a way that would allow players to properly approach them without alerting and spooking them before you can get into range

  • elephants are MASSIVE. they would need to create an entire new trophy lodge + trophy plaques just to accomodate for elephants (full body and head mounts)

I usually don't care if people just shoot at stuff with whatever, but elephants are something that I feel needs to be a very strict and demanding hunt. They've earned their spot in the Big Five for a reason, and reducing them to "just shoot them in the lungs a bunch with an AR" not only makes it look like a total joke, it also sounds way too similar to methods some people use as poachers (repetitively shooting them with tons of rounds until they slowly die from their wounds)

Again, I'm not opposed to elephants being added, but it sounds like it would be way more work for one single creature than EW has ever done so far

#

As i said. Lets be reasonable with our expectations first

There's also so much more to various parts of Africa than "elephants and giraffes lol," it's a very biodiverse continent, but people only ever talk about the Big Five

Grenadine already listed a bunch of species that she feels could be good additions, I feel like an "Africa 2.0" could still be successful without NEEDING elephants if people would have realistic expectations and understand just how much work EW would need to do just for elephants

i really do hope the devs have big big plans for africa in the sense of over 20 new african species and at least 2-3 african maps... they would make SO MUCH money

eland can weigh as much as cape buffalo, they're enormous

real furnace
#

I've seen eland, never class 7

hearty drift
#

lowest eland can be are class 8 tbh

mortal olive
#

girl how are you gonna say "it should be this class, not this one" if you didn't know how big they are compared to other class 9 animals T_T

real furnace
#

We have a bunch of cattle here, a male eland is dubble the size of your average cow to put there size into perspective

I feel if kudu are class 7 then leopards should definitely be at minimum class 7.

so like lions
if we follow that logic then sure. i classify animals via weight

class 7 it is then. updated

at this point i think a caliber system like classic's would be better going forth but i think we've come so far that it might be quite difficult to revamp everything

Eland’s are huge, I’ve seen them plenty of times before, they are taller than most cattle. Class 9 is alright for them.

#

I’m confused? Was there already something talking about this? I’m semi new to this convo, so idk much about what was going on.

#

Oh Alright, my apologies.

#

Anyway, I’d be down to hunt baboons, I need my revenge on them 😈

Okay, now it’s my turn to explain why eland should be a higher class😆

You'd think that but they're actually very huge at about a ton, so definitely class 9

Hearing people pronounce Afrikaans animal names in English makes me visibly cringe

#

oh btw, in case you didn't know, eland are comparable to stuff like bison, cape buffaloes, etc. in terms of size, I think they might be a better fit at class 9 :P

gemsbok is especially vulnerable

It's true that elands are giant, they are about as big as the Banteng which weighs only 800 kilos compared to the 1 ton of the Derby eland (which is the largest of the elands).
