Welcome to northern Argentina where dense forests, endless wetland plains and the prairies of the Pampas meet, hunt jaguars, marsh deer, tapirs and a lot of other iconic animals of south America!

Ik the Amazon is wanted a lot by our community but it would be a very dense short range hunt while this would be more open and further South, I'm also not sure if the engine or EW can handle the incredible plant load of the Amazon rainforest

There are a lot of potential species including

-south american tapir
-jaguar
-maned wolf
-capybara
-red brocket
-grey brocket
-pampas deer
-marsh deer
-nine banded armadillo
-white lipped peccary
-pampas fox
-yacare caiman
-giant anteater

-puma (remodel)
-axis deer
-red deer
-collared peccary

-white checked pintail
-brazilian teal
-wild Muscovy duck
-silver teal
-ringed teal
-chiloe wigeon
-cinnamon teal

-eared dove

#

I will expand on this later in a few hours when I got some more time -:)

Biome #1: yungas forest

The north of this map would be made up of dense rain and cloud forests with a lot of hills and rivers this would make it an Amazon like experience, species like jaguar, puma, tapir capybara and peccarys could be found here, yacare caiman, grey brocket and red brocket would only be exclusively in the northern forests

#

Biome #2: Gran chaco

The central areas are a mosaic made up of marshlands, grasslands and forests, marsh deer and maned wolf are found exclusively here but tapir, puma, jaguar and peccarys are super plentiful here

#

Biome #3: the Pampas

This famous northern pampas is open vast and a little bit dead but there's a lot of waterfowl here, Pampas deer, Pampas fox call this there home but also pumas and axis deer live here

The fact that you made this is awesome i love this idea, hunting in South America seems to be just as awesome as Africa, if we get this instead of an Africa map i would be just as happy, thank you for taking your time with this

The Santa Fe area of northern Argentina between the pampa and Gran chaco is one of the worlds top waterfowl locations

#

You can't talk about Argentina without mentioning doves these would be so fun to shoot I dont think the game can handle the massive flocks but them Beeing a common species could in more normal sized flocks could still work πŸ”₯

#

There could be some farmland I'm the Pampas which would be a stronghold for doves

tropic bay
#

Ik AI bad but just wanted to show how such a map could be structured

#

The south American tapir would be found in the rainforests and Gran chaco, have a rather small population and be class 5 as they only weigh around 120 kg max

#

The jaguar would be class 6 and the maps largest species they would be common in marshland, Gran chaco and rainforest areas of the maps northern parts. They would be able to get aggressive but only on close range and not as likely there attack would kill instantly.

The map would only have 16-20 jaguars scattered around the northern halve

#

The class 3 maned wolf is exclusive to the maps central gran chaco grasslands but not in the super marshy Territories. The population would be small with only around 15 but scattered around a somewhat small area

#

Class 2: Capybara would be common along waterways across the reserve!
Common fur types would be dark brown, red brown and blonde

#

The red and grey brocket are both class 3 species. as they are so similar it wouldn't be a lot of effort adding them both, they'd be exclusive to the rainforests and some of the northern Gran chaco

#

The class 3 Pampas deer would only be found in the maps southern grassland regions

#

The similar to the Pampas deer but larger and more reddish marsh deer would be class 4 and exclusive to the marshlands of the central gran Chaco region

#

The nine banded armadillo would be class 2and found map wide.
A unique thing about them is that you would only be allowed to use shotguns to pass the harvest check as armadillo shells can bring bullets of course which can be dangerous

#

The class 3 white lipped peccary would (once again) be only found in maps more northern tropical areas where it would be most common in dense forests

#

The class 2 Pampas fox wouldn't just be found in the maps southern Pampas but even in the central grassland-savannah region!

#

Pumas would get a remodel and be found 20-30 thruout the entire map, there scare distance would be reduced to 50-100 meters to make hunting more comfortable and they would now attack when cornered or injured, dealing 70% damage
#1325116200677801987

#

The yacare caiman would be class 5 and exclusive to the northern jungles and wetlands where it would be plentiful and not scare large animals. Small animals at a spooking range of only 25

#

Giant anteater would be found in the northern part of the map and be class 3

#

Brazilian teal and wild Muscovy duck would be found in the maps northern two thirds

#

Silver teal, ringed teal and white cheeked pintail would be found map wide

#

Chiloe wigeon and cinnamon teal would be found on the bottom two thirds of the map

I'm glad this version of a Northern Argentinian reserve works (So I have more of an excuse to not include Jaguar on my species list for my Northern Argentinian Reserve concept), though the species list, especially the inclusion of jaguar and tapir, reminds me more of Paraguay, and only because Jim Shockey hunted a tapir, capybara and yacare caiman alongside water buffalo. I think if this reserve was set in Paraguay the story could be basically the player character being invited to see if jaguar hunting could be done sustainably (Jim Shockey only darted his jaguar)

Yeah that's true, however all of these species are found somewhat deep in Argentina I made that very sure Paraguay is just a neighbouring country to the north meaning that a lot of north argentinian more amazonian based wildlife Is plentiful in Paraguay.

I mostly chose northern Argentina 1. Cause Argentina allows hunting and 2. Cause northern Argentina has both open, mixed and Forrester landscapes, I personally live to hunt open and semi open areas which is why I'd love a map where I can hunt some of those species like tapir in semi open environments (Gran Chaco)

I prefer this version also, love thick jungles but only that for a map will get pretty plain

The map would be set in this area of northern and especially northwestern Argentina tho east of the really high andes

Some animals actually do that in-game, I've seen capercaillies atack lynx and I've seen buffalo stack lions overall most species that go aggressive need an aggression rework as well as a rework for scare mechanics it just doesn't make sense for a bobcat that eats bunny to scare a moose (or anything bigger then a coyote)

trim pivot
#

Yeah i agree, lynx makes brown bears go aggressive all the time now that i think of it, but it always ends up running away

If the reserve is located in the Gran Chaco Forest, there will be a problem with game species, since in the Argentine Gran Chaco, the Giant Anteater is not a game species; no sane hunter would shoot one; they can't even be eaten.
The same goes for the Maned Wolf; it isn't even a threat to livestock. Those two species are protected as well as the Tapir, Marsh Deer which are considered Critically Endangered, and the Jaguar is still in the "Extinct in Wildlife Outside Nature Centers", there are only registered populations in National Parks, if by chance you find one outside of a National Park and you hunt it you receive a lifetime ban from obtaining hunting permits, 3 to 10 years in prison, a ban on leaving the country, a fine of up to 300 thousand US dollars for being considered "environmental damage", and in case you have hired a local guide to hunt one you would be accused of "Member of a Criminal Organization" which would add another 3 to 10 years in prison XD

#

Ironically, you get fewer years in prison for killing a person than for shooting a jaguar :/

The other problem in Argentina is its hunting law.To exist, Hunting Reserves (Cotos de Caza) must comply with a federal law where only Game Species that have a Hunting Season in that province can be hunted, or that are invasive or introduced for hunting. I think I already mentioned it in the Estancia El Totoral thread.
Although there is a loophole called "Animals that are usually hunted" that includes species hunted for their meat for consumption, these species can be hunted on Private Lands with the owner's permission.

tropic bay
#

It's close enough to were it's beneficial for the player experience to have these animals, the only people who might be low-key bothered by some deer are locals and a very small percentage, I cry out on black grouse and ferruginous duck in Germany but I think it's beneficial for the game even tho it's very super duper illegal

hidden hinge
#

It's just hard to imagine a map of a region founded by hunters that doesn't fit hunting customs xD

tropic bay
hidden hinge
#

Even without the 5 species it would be a great map, if you are on private land in the north of Argentina you can shoot everything that produces shade xD
(As long as you're going to eat it and it's not threatened)

The Sundarpatan Tigers are in that category, which is why they only live near the posts where people supposedly live.
At least that's what they tried to recreate xD

As far as we know, there has never been a jaguar that was aggressive towards anyone, even though it is a big cat with a very strong jaw, it has never been seen in history being aggressive towards anyone.

Just because it hasnt happend doesnt mean its not possible

hidden hinge
#

Yes, but you should still show "visible wounds and signs of struggle."
There were a couple of similar cases a year ago where they couldn't prove self-defense. It's bureaucratic garbage.

The way I see Jaguars implemented on the Amazon map in cotw is that there are going to be only in the dense Reinforest biome of the map, only 12 of them per map, behavior like Tigers, however unlike Tigers they won't have drink zones and senses will be like Snow Leopard meaning you literally can't find it in the Reinforest and get close to it because it will know about you waay sooner than you will know about it, so the only encounters will be when they go agressive in the Jungle, so your every shot taken at a Jaguar in this game will be in self defense.

twin jetty

#

so we can slightly modify the behavior of an animal in this game. Although, the wolf is a little the case, I find that they attack us too much compared to those in reality. And it's true I also see the jaguar which is also in my idea of map with the behavior of the tiger (maybe less aggressive) and the ability to hear far and to be alert quickly like the Himalayan Thar

why would capybara be class 2 when they are the biggest rodent

tropic bay

There is only 10 Jaguars in gran chaco

tropic bay
ancient rose

uh

twin jetty
# tropic bay Because rodents dont get very big

Capybara get well over 100 pounds on average

Its why I have them listed as at least a Class 3 animal on my Northern Argentina and Peru reserve concepts

The largest recorded capybaras in the wild were 91 kg/201 pound female from Brazil and a 73.5 kg/162 pound male from Uruguay

Capybara are far bigger then any class 2 species
