New england mountains is a beautiful map but it lacks any good mechanics and isnt a lot of fun to hunt, it really isn't that good for grinding nor for casual hunting.
so it just kinda doesn't feel like a unique experience, which is so sad.
So I have prepared a few points that would make this map more unique and more worth to hunt on:
-backfills
-new species
-reworks
Backfills
I think what NEM really lacks is unique species it would get slightly better thru adding species like the wood duck, northern pintail, gadwall, north American beaver or feral pigs.
New species
I think these could really turn the map upside down in a positive way, there should be some species that just aren't like species we have like the striped skunk or the Virginia opposum.
Very iconic species of the northeast are the american woodcox and the ruffed grouse who could be found throughout the map, even spruce grouse would be totally plausible.
Some new waterfowl while not extremely neccisary would spice up the map a bit, common and good potential species include the bufflehead, hooded merganser, american black duck and greater scaup.
The woodchuck or groundhog is a species of marmot that is also common in the region it could have similar mechanics as the European rabbit already does and would really be a fun new hunt!
Other squirrel species could of course also work great.
Reworks
The species of NEM are generally very well modeled but the whitetail deer antlers could really use a rework.
