Hey fellow hunters,

I've been thinking about how we could enhance the hunting experience, especially in low-light conditions, fog, or dense environments. So, I put together a detailed concept for a full suite of thermal optics, complete with fictional names and visual mockups to show how they could work in-game.

The goal is to add new tactical options for challenging hunts without breaking the game's balance. Here's the breakdown of the gear:

  1. Varkon TLR-2 – The Thermal Rangefinder
A simple, handheld rangefinder with an always-on thermal view. It would be perfect for quick scans to detect heat signatures from a distance and get a precise range reading before planning your stalk.

Zoom: Low (approx. 1.5x–2x)

Thermal: Always On

Balance: It's purely for detection and ranging. Since it has no significant zoom, it's not meant for aiming, just for spotting.

  1. Neyrix VTX-850 – Toggleable Thermal Binoculars
High-powered binoculars designed for long-range scouting. The key feature here is the ability to toggle thermal vision on and off. This would allow you to scan a large area for heat, and then switch back to a clear optical view to properly identify the animal and its score potential.

Zoom: 8x

Thermal: Toggleable (On/Off)

Balance: This is the only device with a toggle, making it the most versatile for scouting but not a direct aiming tool. It would not have a rangefinder, keeping it focused on observation.

  1. Thermal Weapon Scopes (Always-On View)
These would be dedicated thermal scopes for different weapon classes, all with an always-on thermal view. This means you trade your normal optical sight for permanent heat detection, creating a clear strategic choice.

Rifle Scope (Halvex STR-6T): 4–6x zoom for mid-range ethical shots.

Shotgun Scope (Draven CQT-T2): 1–4x zoom for close-quarters encounters.

Handgun Scope (Veltrik MTS-3): 2–3x compact sight for sidearms.

Balance: By making the thermal view permanent, you gain superior heat detection but lose the ability to see color and finer details of the environment.

  1. Etron Apex-1T – The Thermal Bow Sight
A high-tech sight for the modern archer. The thermal view would only be visible through the sight's small window, allowing you to spot a target hidden in the brush without losing your natural peripheral vision. Although the design is based on the Brightsight Rangefinder Bow Sight, this thermal version would not include a rangefinder, maintaining the challenge of traditional bowhunting.

Zoom: 1x (No magnification)

Thermal: Always On (but only inside the sight's window)

Balance: No zoom and no rangefinder make it a specialized tool for situational awareness at close range, not a long-range cheat for bowhunters.

What do you all think? Would this be a cool addition to the game? How would you change or balance them? A great discussion is the best way to show the devs what the community is passionate about, so let's hear all your thoughts!

Happy hunting! 🔥
