Marshland hunting reserve

Welcome to Minnesota hunter! Here you can hunt a wide variety of Waterfowl, upland game birds and maybe even some other species! We hope you enjoy your stay here in the Marshland hunting reserve.

So, in game we already have a European Waterfowl map. Now we need an American one. My suggestion is one in the beautiful state of Minnesota. This map would be Salzwiesen size with a wide variety of different Birds.

If we ever get a NA small game map I really hope we’d get turkey and woodcock on it. I’d swap out pheasant for woodcock and add eastern wild turkey. maybe swap red fox for badger too

Another suggestion I have for this map is a on-map trophy lodge, mainly focused on housing all the Waterfowl you may come across during your adventures. A North American paid dlc trophy lodge would be awesome as well, with lots of Plaques for the smallest of game, to the biggest.

Personally Minnesota would be a better map, since we already have a Mississippi map that borders Arkansas, but the Mid west region hasn’t gotten any maps yet. But it’s just my opinion 🖤

I believe the Arkansas environment would just be more unique with flooded timber, rice and corn fields and those hills in the north as well as that it is the duck hunting capital of the world but I can see how a Minnesota map would give more new species other then ruffed grouse and wood🐓

But Minnesota is one of the most visualy boring places for a COTW map I could imagine

I don’t think Minnesota would be visually boring. Also if the fishing part of the Survey wins, this map could be absolutely perfect for that, since Minnesota is very popular for fishing.

This reserve could also be useful as a “filler” or “Backfill” map, With a wide variety of Waterfowl that could fit on a lot of North American maps. For example, ruddy duck on SRP, or Ruffed Grouse on Layton.

Cinnamon Teal really aren’t in Minnesota and Loon (Great Northern Diver) are not allowed to be hunted in the US at all.

Both are true, but I think it’s time we get a second map with Cinnamon Teal and I also think we really need Loons in the game!

Cinnamon Teal could be backfilled into SRP. Also redhead, canvasback, or blue bill would be better choices over Loons in my opinion. Also Canvasbacks are know as the king of ducks.

If we got a South American map set in Peru, Cinnamon Teal would be a perfect inclusion, though personally I think Parque needs more unique species considering that the Cinnamon Teal is the only species that is unique to Parque

Parque just needs a massive backfilling with Feral sheep and stuff like that

Mouflon would have been a more fitting inclusion then Collared Peccary considering that Parque is set a lot further south in the Patagonia region of Argentina while peccaries are only found in Northern Argentina

Considering that cinnamon teal and loons are apparently not the best fits for a Minnesota Map, I was wondering how birds like the Wilson's Snipe, American Woodcock, Sora, Virginia Rail and American Coots would fit considering that they are all water birds and we have not seen any kind of snipe, woodcock or rail in this game despite multiple maps being very suitable for these kinds of birds

Woodcocks are on the list. I listed them as American timberdoodle since I was timed out for swearing. But all the others I could add to the list!

I’ll be adding the American coot and the Sora to the list, removing Cinnamon teals and loons.

I wonder how EW will implement Timberdoodles if they ever do so. Apparently they are the slowest flying bird in the world, and I wonder if EW would give them the same flying speed as Pheasants or actually change it.

This map could also run through the Mississippi river. I was thinking to have the river on the far east of the map. Then a lot of other wetland areas on the east side.

I think a good combination of pond, marshland, lakes and river would make for the ultimate waterfowl experience thats what I thought was so great about Arkansas cause you have corn and rice fields which are flooded you have timber that's flooded, marshes, lakes and the mighty Mississipp

If do more marsh on salz like halve the map is marsh and idk about the fields but I like it

I did the fields to have more suitable areas for species like Whitetail and Raccoons etc. Obviously a lot can change and I will try to improve the concept. I do agree I could definitely add more water, I might change the far east part in the lake region to have flooded timber, because it’s looking a bit bland there

Idk if anyone else noticed this but the new dusky grouse have a position in the lodge that looks exactly like the prairie chicken display, it could just be a coincidence but maybe it means they’re planning on adding them soon?

Europe has two Waterfowl reserves... US has 0.

One southern waterfowl map, and one more in the North.
Southern California and Minnesota would work great, since they wouldn't be like any reserves in the US with the different species options (Like Tule Elk, Woodcock, Greater prairie chicken etc.)

Honestly a waterfowl reserve anywhere in the whole Country would be great. Alaska, Arkansas, Cali, Minnesota, they all have great waterfowl map potential.

You can't always find those for species sometimes they've been never recorded especially albinos are very rare in ducks, leucistics aren't as rare but still not a common sight, here is one I've seen

I just made a post recently with similar ideas, but I feel like this map would be that win that all of us midwest hunters are looking for.

~ 55-60% of all hunters in the US live in midwestern states, a map like this would be great representation.

Even if just 1% of midwestern hunters played the game, that is around 80,000 people who would get the chance to hunt in a familiar setting.

Blue winged teal and ruddy duck would also probably be my 2 faves to hunt.

Potholes or flooded timber would be great, also just a wide open corn field like what we actually hunt up here. Midwest sized!

This was my idea for a mallard rework. I also think Blonde should become common for hens, but rare for Drakes. I also think Leucistic should be available for Hen and Drake.
