#Why are they different class ranges?

yes, they are pointless
EW please overhaul that hole system, its confusing and restricting
Stats and classes are totally arbitrary and make no sense at all ....
We have a big mess in 2-8 class now. But I know how devs will solve it. They will sell us one new and couple of old calibers. Maybe in September.
I'm curious if the devs have actually stopped to look at the stats from the player's perspective? I seriously doubt it.
Shown this way the classes make even less sense. It's an arbitrary system that's left over from when they actually tried to have some form of balance, but after 5 years, a hundred or so new animals and probably 50 dlc weapons the ballistics system is an absolute train wreck.
It needs an actual Overhaul that accounts for dlcs and let's us enjoy the game with our favorite weapons
Stats have always never really mattered. The only thing that matters is the difference between Soft-point or Polymer, Plastic Birdshot or Steel birdshot etc.
This sistem of balance remaind me TRPG games. There all of one class weapons +- little better or worse. Looks like the devs stick to this line. In their heads it's not a hunting game it's a tactical game.
They don't even make competitive games, not even Gen Zero has pvp. They need to drop the class system for weapons at the very least.
Flag some minimum calibers for certain things or maximum.
Say .243 is the maximum caliber allowed for fox or you just get no money or xp for it.
Honestly, they should just have a cash and XP penalty for using the wrong caliber assuming its not using a .470NE for quail for example.
I really struggle to understand how a .375 H&H bullet shot through, say, a Roe deer's vitals affect the antlers in any way, according to the current game system of course
Oh it's ridiculous, there's no way that could affect the score. WotH uses meat wasted to score it but since CotW just uses antlers so it should be fine to use any caliber.
EW did absolutely zero actual research
There is only one way. If we want that devs will hear us..... don't buy. Did you buy the new map? I did. All did. Everything is okay for devs. Grind with new semi-auto rifles occupied 99% of YouTube video. Research is a time, money and ton of big problems. Because reworking old things will brings tens of serious bugs. Much easier will sell 9.62x32, 416 rigby...... and a hippo🔥 . All forget about 30-30, 270, 6.5, 45-70 after this.
Didn't buy it, would have have if the rifle was good.
It's based on the rifle I hunt with, but it works like a nerf gun in this game so I'm not wasting money on it
I bought. But reduce wolves aggression finished off me. I like only roaming around and seek. Lions and wolves did it are the true adventure. But now they are undangerous. All game turned into shop of fur and g1 now. Only it cares. The devs choose wrong way. Because if to show people undangerous predators it will turn into tragedy irl.
The difference in how "good" the ammo is depends on the rifles themselves, which have a stat we can't see. If they added something like "Power" to go along with the Accuracy, Hip Shot, etc. it would make more sense. It's why the Eckers and M1 use the same ammo but the M1 packs a bigger punch so it seems to do a bit better on most things.
But you have to take into account that this unseen Power stat is sorted by class-ranges, so you can't say that the .300 which has 42 Penetration should be worse than the .308 which as 45 Penetration, because you're comparing a 4-8 to a 7-9... you'd have to only look at the 4-8's together to know that the stats for the .308 makes sense. It's also why the Olsson .308 seems to be weaker than the Zarza and newer one, because it has noticeably less boom to it.
I agree there has to be an overhaul to make things make more understandable, but not really in the way most people think it should be done.
The weapon has no power with out the rounds ...... otherwise its just a stick to beat a tree with .....
