How to make Yukon Valley the best map in the game

Before Askiy Ridge became a thing, Yukon valley was my absolute favorite map in the game. It has a lot of fun species and some unique ones. But even though it's a fun map, it could be a whole lot better. Here is a few things I think could improve the wonderful map of Yukon Valley.

Firstly, we need a nice big backfilling with brand new species, and already existing species. Here would be the list

Backfillings:
Snow Goose
Willow Ptarmigan
Black Bear
Wood Bison*

*= Not a need, but could be nice

New Species:
Canadian Lynx (Just take Eurasian Lynx model, rework it and rename it)
Dall Sheep
Snowshoe hare
Sitka Blacktail deer

Nr.2 Reworks. A lot of species could use a drastic rework. Here is the list

Reworks:
Grizzly Bear
Caribou (Antler rework and new home range)
Plains Bison (Potential Great one: https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1382795852283646064)
Harlequin Duck
Moose (Antler rework)

Nr.3 Graphical updates. Nothing major, just a little touch up to make the graphics of the map on par with Askiy.

I like everything you've got in here, except for the Arctic Fox. I think that species should be saved for an Arctic map, plus we already have Red Foxes on Yukon Valley and in my opinion there's no need for another fox on this map.

COTW v Reality. The look only a tad bit the same, this is just a game of course, but with the new Wood Bison models... I know Plains Bison could be improved too

Moose on Yukon should be changed to "Alaska Moose" alongside the antler rework of course.

Yes good idea! The Bufflehead, Surf Scoter, Lesser Scaup and Northern Pintail would all be great additions to Yukon Valley!

Yukon is my most beloved map and I would love to see some of the animals there get some love. I’d absolutely love a Plains Bison remodel and maybe a Grizzly Remodel as well
It definitely deserves some love now that Grant Caribous look way more fancy (I believe Yukon Caribou got remodeled, can’t fully remember but last I checked they look a tad different now)

Yukon Valley has a visual issue with a red tint on snowy red bushes and a flat white color on snowy plants and trees.

Yes Yukon Caribou did get a very nice remodel with Askiy Ridge. But the antlers still look the same, so that’s why I think Caribou should get new TruRac’s

With them getting remodel, I wish some more Yukon animals get remodel to kinda match with the new look (I’m looking at you, Plains Bison and Grizzly Bears)
But yeah, some new TruRacs would definitely be awesome for the Grant Caribou

In Yukon Valley, the Moose does get covered by snow, but the Grizzly Bear and Grant Caribou do not.

Wood bison vs Plains Bison and a rare pintail. All of these should be on the map and the Plains bison should be reworked

I would also like to add Coyote! Coyotes are WAY overdue for a remodel and Rework…also yes Coyotes are indeed in Alaska so it would be Realistic

They might be in Alaska, but personally I feel like they would be half and half overused, since they should be backfilled to all the other reserves in America. Yukon needs some other predators, like lynx. Coyotes are just kinda boring and wouldn’t really help improve Yukon drastically imo

Its name refers to the Yukon River (whose longest stretch is in Alaska), it does not refer to the Yukon Territory in Canada

Coyotes wouldn’t be so boring if they, Y’know, looked like Yotes. Still, I agree that they should be backfilled to SRP and Mississippi Acres before going to Yukon (although I’d feel they’d fit)

Just for me I think Yukon could have more interesting and unique predators, like Raccoon dog and Lynx. Arctic fox maybe too

Well if you’re looking for small mesopredators from Inland Alaska that aren’t coyotes, you’re basically relegated to Red Fox, Wolverine, North American River Otter, and Canada Lynx. Arctic Fox mostly stick to the Northern and Western coasts of Alaska, with some venturing inland. Yukon Valley is supposedly set somewhere Northwest of Anchorage (in the area of Denali National Park at least according to the In-Game reserve selection map), so pretty far away from any Arctic Fox population.

We have Lesser Kudu and Eurasian Wigeon on a South African/Botswana reserve. Last time I checked, they are not here in SA. So Arctic foxes wouldn't be a massive stretch, but I'm not saying we need Arctic fox on Yukon Valley, because all the others suggested would work way better. I just don't want Coyote on it.

The Kudu and Wigeon never should have been anywhere near Vurhonga. It should’ve been Greater Kudu, and if they really wanted ducks they should’ve added Cape Teal or Mallards. Either way, I think EW should keep doing what they’re doing currently and have the species roster be realistic, without any crazy stretches like the Kudu or Wigeon.

Oh for sure about the Kudu and Wigeon, they are the main reason I dislike Vurhonga, a reserve set in my own home country. I do understand why ya'll would like Coyote on Yukon but it's just not for me. Also, if you are looking for a duck species to add to Vurhonga, I'd rather suggest African black duck. They are much more common here, also we don't have Mallards iirc, I've never seen any. Egyptian geese would also work nicely. I don't want any beef, just trying to state my opinion, have a nice day!

Agreed, African Black Duck or Egyptian Geese would be really cool on Vurhonga, much cooler than Wigeon. Also, on the mallard point, you’re right, there’s no native mallards in South Africa, and only a few introduced populations in and around Pretoria and Johannesburg. I don’t want any beef either, also just stating my opinion. I’m just a gruff American lol.

Why 2 bear species and 2 bison species

On my Layton post you said you know what suggestions means… Clearly, you do not. EW can just pic from these, and the Wood Bison and Black Bear are very abundant in Alaska, especially that area…

i dont agree with wood bison or black bear its just my opinions and i do know what suggestions are. and im just saying wood bison dont fit because they are to similar to plains bison. same drink time. really close looks and i dont think its a great fit. but i'd say just remove wood bison. and for black bears it would be fine to be honest. but if they dont change the drink time for black bears then no. 3 animals drinking same time is so unrealistic.

The bison look different enough to warrant it plus home ranges exist you can have animals drinking at the same time but you can still change where they are so they dont overlap

Those deer are not closley related. fallow and sambar for example. one is European one is south asian. Wood bison and plains bison live around the same areas. look closley related. and its just my opinions. for grey and red fox. they have different drink times and there colours are not as similar as wood and plains bison. if they change wood bison drink time then i'd be ok with home range

I was talking about Blacktail and Whitetail… They had the same model once upon a time. Technically not introduced, they were almost hunted to extinction in the 50’s. Believe it or not Plains Bison were introduced to Alaska…

Keyword slightly, slightly different. Wood Bison and Plains Bison are very different in game and irl, size wise and the way they look is quite different.

but still personaly wood bison should stay in canadian reserves. unless they have a very different home range and different drink time then i dont see how wood bison can be added. but i like the addition of dall sheep and potentially lynx. and we could benefit from some waterfowl in yukon valley and upland bird

Actually yes, they are the only two subspecies of the American Bison (Bison bison) with the Plains Bison (Bison bison bison) and the Wood Bison (Bison bison athabascae)
