MedVed: In the harsh Siberian wilderness Ptarmigan have adapted to it, more specifically Rock and Willow Ptarmigan, already on revontuli these birds dont get enough love. Very fun to hunt much more so then the Ring-Necked Pheasant. And adding more species to MedVed should bring more people in.
Yukon Valley: In the Yukon River Basin Ptarmigan have also adapted in this area, the Willow Ptarmigan and the White-Tailed Ptarmigan/Snow Quail. More about the White-Tailed Ptarmigan, they are the smaller bird in the Grouse Tribe, and not only are they small they are very cute. Populous in and around tree lines it would offer a new species to backfill in Yukon, and would make Yukon more unique. The Willow Ptarmigan is Alaskas state bird and a very popular game bird all around Alaska, for the Inuit and hunters looking for a new challenge in the brutal Alaskan wilderness.
Final thoughts: as for the hype for Askiy Ridge is increasing for every tease I feel like other snow maps should get more love from the communities. But because of the Alberta hype people are going to these maps to see what they could experience in Askiy Ridge. But with that they should introduce the Ptarmigan Species. Its really nore for my satisfaction but if this were to happen I know other hunters would be satisfied to have ptarmigan To hunt in other reserves!
Pictures: The White-Tailed Ptarmigan is the smaller plump looking fella. Rock Ptarmigan looks similar to the White-Tailed Ptarmigan but larger and white the red above its eye. Willow Ptarmigan is the bi-color one and the largest one
