This reserve, for lack of better words, is a full remaster of the European map concept, kinda like what Askiy Ridge Hunting Preserve was for NA.

The plot is basically that the reserve owner has teamed up with several people to bring back what he sees as the true wild Europe to create a hunting experience unique to this part of the world

The first big influence was, obviously, Romania, being one of the most well known hunting destinations in Europe and the home of many mythical monsters known the world over (vampires, werewolves, etc.). I'd definetly want EW to do some research regarding these traditions as they're quite fascinating and can add some flavor to the world.

The second big one is Chernobyl. Especially after everyone left, the whole landscape became filled with all sorts of animals, being more or less the one major part of Europe with a complete guild of wildlife from before the expansion of cities, all from what was once a radioactive danger zone. I'd like to include a reference or two to this also, maybe have a story mission with a radioactive animal or two

Species list
Brown bear
Carpathian chamois
Eurasian beaver โญ
Eurasian lynx
European bison
European hare
European mouflon
Fallow deer
Golden jackal โญ
Gray wolf
Greylag goose
Mallard duck
Moose
Przewalski's horse (proxy for wild horses introduced throughout Eastern Europe) โญ
Raccoon dog (invasives ofc, take out with prejudice)
Red deer
Red fox
Roe deer
Tauros cattle (bred back aurochs) โญ
Wild boar

The tauros and wild horses would be a huge part of the new reserve as they used to be present all over Europe before their extinction and it'd be a great way to educate about back breeding. For more info on aurochs especially, go here

Btw, I'd like more suggestions to fill out the small game/birds

A concerning ecological problem has arisen in some of Europe's landscapes. Experts believe one of the solutions is to bring extinct aurochs back to life.

I looked into more of the traditional stuff in Romania, there's an extremely strong culture of respecting the game and ethical hunting.

Driven hunts happen but there's a lot of ceremony to them and might not work the best for the map. On the other hand, Stalking is apparently hugely practiced. Stalking, or still hunting if you're in the US, is moving extremely slowly and patiently through the forest with all your senses keyed up for movement or sounds.

The Eurasian brown bear is doing so well in Romania that one estimate 70%of Europe's population lives there. Wolves, wild boar, and golden jackal hunts are otlften done by stalking or tracking. Red deer, roe deer, fallow deer and carpathian chamois are known for being absolutely massive here.

9 out of 10 of the CIC's largest recorded chamois, including the world record, chamois have come from Romania. This country also has the largest continous forest area in Europe with 27% of the country being old growth.

Bookyourhunt.com has quite a few trips available and Romania seems very welcoming of hunters as long as you respect the laws

If anything, Romania is the perfect choice for a map design like Sundarpatan. A river region loaded with ducks and geese gradually giving way to a grassland with sparse forests for the deer species, wolves and boar. Farther north the mountains would be perfect for bears, wild sheep, goats, and the GO chamois (considering Romania's track record of producing giant chamois)

Personally I'd love to see a Yukon Valley weather system where it occasionally snows as you hunt there. Hopefully the snow will stick for 2 or 3 days before melting.

Feeling better about a Euro map in Dec 2025, after the Q&A hints of Red Deer rework & the Game Feeder trailer showcasing Roe Deer & Boar??

If a Romanian or Polish map, my concern is NEW animals. Seems to be lacking, no? But perhaps if it mimicks the Askiy Ridge approach of "many sorely-needed remodels + 19 total species"... then it could be a solid map choice.
