Challenge not possible with only base game

This is the second time ive seen this. A challege to harvest a bird species using a handgun and passing the harvest check. At the bottom, it is clearly labeled for Base Game, meaning that it should be possible to complete with only the basic base game equipment and maps.
Im aware that the 22 pistol is what people use to complete this challenge, but it is only available through a DLC pack. And the 410/45 pistol doesn't register kills made with the 410 shells as a pistol kill, it registers them as a shotgun kill.
Since there is no handgun that uses class 1 ammo in the base game, how do i complete this challenge with the base game only?

Perhaps you misunderstand what is going on here.
There is no handgun in the base game that uses class 1 ammo, which is required to pass the harvest check for birds. So as far as i can tell, this challenge is not possible to complete using only the base game without the DLC to aquire the 22 handgun

Oof, that explains why I’m not getting credit for mine. Guessing there’s no way to abandon a weekly challenge and take up a new one is there?

Nah. Once you accept it, you cant get a new one till the next week starts

Is your daily female turkey challenge also a handgun only challenge?

Nope, I’ve been using one to try to kill two birds with one stone.
Guess I’ll switch guns and kill some more birds tomorrow.

Yeah you should be able to do the challenge with another gun.
Its just this handgun thing thats messed up. Its mislabeled as base game. It should be labeled as DLC only

What really blows is I got a lung shot with a handgun from 30mish on the wing and it was wasted lol
