Welcome to the high arctic! Hunt polar bears, muskoxen and all the iconics of the far north. Stalk (or get stalked by) polar bears at the coast, pursue caribou or elusive wolves on the islands north or chase the king eider by the coast!

  • polar bear, class 9 NEW (COAST AND SEA ICE)

  • muskoxen, class 8 NEW (EVERYWHERE)

  • bearded seal, C4 New (COAST ANE SEA ICE)

  • walrus, C9 NEW (COAST)

  • ringed seal, C4 NEW (COAST AND SEA ICE)

  • Peary Caribou, C4 NEW (NORTH)

  • barren ground caribou, C6 NEW (SOUTH)

  • Arctic wolf, C3 NEW (NORTH)

  • Arctic fox, C2 NEW (EVERYWHERE)

  • Arctic Hare, C1 NEW (EVERYWHERE)

  • Wolverine, C3 NEW (EVERYWHERE)

  • Arctic ground squirrel, C1 NEW (SOUTH)

  • King eider, C1 NEW (COAST)

  • Common eider, C1 NEW (COAST)

  • brant goose, C1 NEW (COAST)

  • tundra swan, C1 NEW (MARSHES)

  • snow goose, C1 (ALL INLAND AREAS)

  • rock ptarmigan, C1 (EVERYWHERE)

  • willow ptarmigan, C1 (south)

These might not sound so diverse and new, but it would really be, there could be 1 or 2 islands on the map, with more plants in the south where barren ground caribou are while the north has more Peary Caribou and Arctic wolf.

If only they’d give us what we want

I know buts it’s just a massive flop that they hype us up to bring us down

rigid whale
#

If you have any adjustments let me know, however this is high arctic focus, so no elk or deer something like that, may be dall sheep but that's a stretch, if there not on the new map I'll add them maybe

#

How would you hunt walrus?

rigid whale

#

Hmmmm I would agree if that's the case

normal cape
#

rock ptarmigan would not be a new species btw

rigid whale
#

Willow ptarmigan would work on a summer map

normal cape
#

i think both willow and rock are the only arctic species so its fine if its reused

rigid whale
#

The map would be based on the Canadian archipelago mainly Victoria, Baffin and elsemere islands

#

The south would be more colourful with no snow and long grasses, here you could find barren ground caribou

#

The north would be barren with more snow, peary caribou and Arctic wolf

#

Arctic Hare would be the first lagomorph where white is a common fur variant

#

It might seem unrealistic but EE could keep the distance we can look generally under 300 meters just because there are so many hills and ravines in the area

#

They could add these cool rock formations from Baffin island

#

And those white cotton like flowers iconic of the Arctic

It is called Eriophorum callitrix or Arctic cottongrass

#

There could also be abandoned wailing stations as landmarks

#

This is a Inukshuk it is used for communication and as a navigational landmark by Inuit people of Arctic canada

#

Arctic Marshes are of course a must biome,

molten linden
#

I think all the seal species should be classified 4 or below seeing as most hunt them with 22-250.

#

With the exception of walrus that is

Dall sheep only live in the far west of Canada and this reserve has more than enough new big game to need them imo

rigid whale
#

I agree

#

Much of the north of Nunavuts coast Is covered with sea ice year aroundy this would be prime polar bear and seal territory

#

Many areas are also covered in thousands of lakes and streams, this is great for breeding waterfowl like the tundra swan and snow goose

#

Much of the southern archipelago isn't covered in sea ice along the coast, this would be prime seaduck hunting for eiders but these shores and beaches would also hold seals and walrus

#

The willow ptarmigan ranges much of the central and southern archipelago which would make this a possible reuse

#

The rock ptarmigan ranges even further north where populations would be highest, however they woul be found thru the entire map although more rare where willow ptarmigan are present

#

These are Arctic Marshes, here snow goose and tundra swan would be especially plentiful

#

The Wolverine is a super iconic animal and would be found on major landmasses thruout the reserve

#

The king eider is one of the most striking ducks Bering mostly limited to the arctic

#

The common eider has a wider range but is just as beautiful and iconic as the king

#

Common eider can hybridise with mallard (left) and king eider (right) like they did for some other species I'd suppose these be rare variants, "common eider x mallard" as a rare for the common and "common x king eider" as a rare for the king eider

#

Another striking rare for the eiders could be leucistic

rigid whale
#

Some of their most common hybrids are with greater white fronted goose (left) and with canada goose (right)

#

Other interesting rares for them could be dark (left) and molting (right)

Sounds cool, hope for wolverines and muskox on the new map tho

#

but if it’s arctic i’d want them on this map too

I mean, we can propose it all we want. The devs may have...Nunavut...😜🤣

🔝 My election for the next Canadian map. Canada deserves two maps. An authentic Artic map.

Arctic ground squirrels are commonly hunted in Nunavut, I think they would be pretty cool to see.

They are surprisingly interesting little animals. They are known to predate mice and even lemmings when food is scarce, which is pretty wild for a squirrel 😂

rigid whale
rigid whale
#

We are at 19 species rn which might be a bit much but should be fine considering that 7 of those are birds, if they wanted they could keep brant, willow ptarmigan and barren ground caribou away to push it down to 16

I am working on a map, this is how far I am currently in, beige is tundra, dark blue is open sea water and the white is an ice shield, I will work further and add more details like water sources and more distinct tundra variations

I feel like seal hunting would be more similar to crocodile hunting with them resting on land going into the water to feed or flee

What Class is Narwhal? 🤔

rigid whale

You have a narrow window of opportunity to shoot a narwhal when it surfaces to breathe and more from the long shot.

There are many areas covered in snow years round but this map would be set mostly in areas that are not snowy during summer when this map is set

adult narwhals usually weigh 800 to 1,600 kg (1,800 to 3,500 lbs). They're definitely not the biggest whale in the world, but they're not tiny either

#

tbh though I can't see EW adding any cetaceans to this game in the future. That type of hunting feels like it's meant for a different type of game.

rigid whale
#

Oh lol, I thought they were similar to pilot whales which is pretty big and the only whale I've ever seen

# rigid whale Yeah they have to be rare

Yes speaking of rares, what kind of fur types would there be? Because i can imagine the devs have to get creative considering the closest people can come to a rare is an algea coated polar bear hahaha, i’m here for it tho

rigid whale
# normal gulch Yes speaking of rares, what kind of fur types would there be? Because i can imag...

Yeah, they've done species without rares before, I honestly don't really want something to wild, maybe an albino, blood covered? Algae covered would be super fun, 1-2 rares could be enough.
I feel with polar bears the #1 focus should be the hunting experience it selve.

It's something I wanna see on an Arctic map as it's just so iconic but species like seals or maybe even seabirds and other birds kinda thrill me more.

normal gulch
# rigid whale Yeah, they've done species without rares before, I honestly don't really want so...

I have yet to see a species without a rare actually, the only one with the least rares are rock ptarmigan. But yeah i agree it just becomes pointless to keep enjoying that experience without getting something out of it, while the experience being incredible, you won’t be able to enjoy it as much. That’s why i love hunting tigers, because there’s many to see and you get to enjoy the hunting experience, those skins could work tho, i imagine the algea one would be like some of the mountain goats

Have you ever thought of how a map would look for this

I imagine it would be a lot of islands and peninsulas with a fair amount of sea ice in between

Here is a cut-out of Nunavut that looks roughly like what I am talking about

I'd love a reserve in the Arctic, but I have a question.
In the Arctic, it's continuous daylight for 6 months and night for 6 months. How would the game account for the time of light and darkness?
Half of the missions in daylight and the other half in darkness. that would be a first, also, less programming for time changes/images.
I can just imagine the guy who just bought the reserve and doesn't know about this—he goes to a spot for 6:30 PM and waits for it to get dark! LOL!

normal gulch
past swift
#

Yes, it would probably be necessary to reprogram, at least for one conversion.
Imagine you're hunting and it's 2:00 AM, but it's bright sunshine. Then, let's say in the middle of the list missions, it suddenly switches to darkness. Oof, that would be confusing!
That would generate a ton of questions here in help_and_tips and support. LOL!

# rigid whale Fall generally is the best time imo

Oh so it’s much waterfowl, how cool. The bird in that first picture (idk the english name for this) if you didn’t know is called skäggdopping and here in Strängnäs, nature is very close and almost intergrated with the city, so down by the docks i saw one nesting like 2m away from me, a sothöna as well. Sorry i don’t care to translate right now
