A map set within the country of Ethiopia in eastern Africa would be great, it could have mountains, floodplains and deserts!
Some potential big game species include:
-warthog
-bushpig
-heartebeest
-thomsons gazelle
-grants gazelle
-red fronted gazelle
-gerenuk
-klippspringer
-african buffalo
-oribi
-mountain nyala
-lesser kudu
-bushbuck
-greater kudu
-walia ibex
-nubian ibex
-roan antelope
-east african oryx
-kob
-waterbuck
-mule lechwe
-bohor reedbuck

-african wildass
-plains zebra

-cheetah
-caracal
-leopard
-lion
-spotted hyena
-striped hyena
-ethiopian wolf
-african golden wolf

Of course they can't add all of these and shouldn't but some (10-20 species) and this would work without having to change the game engine

I also thought about making an Ethiopian map but I was afraid that the political situation would be a problem since I don't know if it's the kind of African country with civil war type problems or something like that. So glad to see that I'm not the only one who thought of this place

Yes, I saw it and there are a lot of interesting animals, like, I understand, a kind of large warthog in the jungles or long-necked antelopes. So, yes, it's very open.

It's true that there, from what I've seen, there are lots of rather endemic species.

Thanks! My goal was something that is not "Vurhonga Savana 2.0," which most Africa proposals really seem to be, but still have the Big Five. Fortunately, southern Ethiopia shares a border with Kenya, so a lot of those animals can be on either side.

The article ‘A revised phylogeny of Antilopini (Bovidae, Artiodactyla) using combined mitochondrial and nuclear genes’

Conclusions:

The simultaneous analysis of several mitochondrial and nuclear genes helps to resolve problematic phylogenetic relationships within Antilopini: gazelles are resolved as paraphyletic, with Gazella more closely related to Antilope than to the other gazelle genera Nanger and Eudorcas. Within Antilopina, Saiga is the sister-species to all other species (Antidorcas, Litocranius, Antilope and gazelles), and Ourebia shares a common ancestor with Antilopina to the exclusion of the other dwarf antelope… (Paid article)
