I have killed a handful of difficulty 2 rabbits at this point and when I check the community challenge it says I need to "Contribute to be eligible for rewards". Is there a minimum number of rabbits to kill? I am worried that since it's already reached 100% that I am just locked out of the event even though there are a few days left. I have been preparing for a surgery and haven't had much time to play but I didn't want to miss out on the event.

Do I just need to keep hunting rabbits or am I shut out early because it's already complete and therefore cannot be contributed to further?

In the same boat as you. Thought I could get a random rabbit while hunting other animals. After the challenge hit 100% it says I need to "contribute" so I go hunt some rabbits I know should count, but no luck.

So in the future community events maybe they should have a live counter so people know if they have managed to get kills towards the event instead of when it's already over/finished.

And also be more clear about that you need to get a kill before the challenge hit 100% instead of when the time runs out.

I'm sorry to hear you encountered trouble with the Easter Bunny Hunt.

The Community Challenges are designed to grant rewards to all players who participate before the Challenge ends, regardless if they contribute before or after the goal is reached.
The Easter Bunny Hunt also doesn't have a minimum number of harvests required to participate - harvesting a single rabbit of Difficulty level 2+ should make you eligible. Please note that only kills that pass the Harvest Check count toward the Challenge.

If you passed the Harvest Check on a rabbit harvest and the Challenge didn't update for you, please reach out to us through our support portal with a video or screenshots demonstrating the harvest and the state of your Challenges menu and we will gladly look into it: https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
