Welcome to Phacochère River Hunting Park in Senegal

This may not be the prime safari destination that has the biggest game for hunting, but it is a good area for hunting upland game, waterfowl and warthog, the river that cuts through the park is named after the pigs and there are talks of particularly giant warthogs in the areas with both local and foregin hunters calling these fine speciemen "Great Ones".

Now of course we also have an abundance of small game animals like savannah hare, cane rat, duiker, monkey and civet and while the warthog is one of our more common big game animals, we also have a large population of baboon, a smaller population of bushbuck and reedbuck and even a few crocodiles open to hunting.

After a long day of hunting you can sit back at camp and rest, or spend your night hunting species that are more nocturnal, whatever suits you

Happy Hunting

Species List

  • Waterfowl: Knob-billed Duck, Egyptian Goose, African Pygmy Goose, White-backed Duck

Terrain Overview

  • This area is bordered to the south by a large river with a smaller river cutting through the map, this smaller river is the Phacochère River
  • The area west of this smaller river is more suited to hunting upland game and small game. Its also where the majority of the big game species live
  • The area east of the smaller river is more suited for waterfowl hunting and is also the best place to hunt crocodile
#

As for the weapon images here they are, the first image is the 12 Gauge Double Barrel, and the communtiy has been asking for this for a while, the other gun is the combination gun

#

As for the bird species, I'll start with the upland game in order:

  • Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse
  • Double-spurred Francolin
  • Harlequin Quail
  • Helmeted Guineafowl
  • African Green Pigeon
#

And for the waterfowl we have

  • African Pygmy Goose
  • Egyptian Goose
  • Knob-billed Duck
  • White-backed Duck
#

For small game there is

  • Savannah Hare
  • Gambian Pouched Rat
  • Greater Cane Rat
  • African Civet
  • Patas Monkey
  • Red-flanked Duiker
  • African Golden Wolf
  • Marsh Mongoose
#

And for big game, the most common species are Warthog and Guinea Baboon, and there are smaller populations of Harnessed Bushbuck, Bohor Reedbuck and West African Crocodile. As hinted at the Warthog Great One could be introduced on a map like this

#

As for the Great One Warthog, this image is of a toy warthog but seeing as how a lot of the big game Great Ones have rather odd fur colouration, I figured this would work as one potential fur type, I would imagine a Great One Warthog would have massive tusk, which could mean that if they wanted to do a Great One Warthog, Wild Boar or Feral Pig they could introduce a TruTusk system (They should also introduce a similar system for the skulls of large predators like lions, crocodiles and bears)

#

This is my list of other Potential Species that didn't quite make the main list due to the map being on the smaller side but could be included if the reserve was the same size as every other reserve

  • Waterfowl (4): Fulvous Whistling Duck, White-faced Whistling Duck, African Swamphen, African Crake
  • Upland Game (4): Denham's Bustard, Namaqua Dove, Stone Partridge, Great Snipe, Greater Painted Snipe
  • Small Game (5): Crested Porcupine (C2), Green Monkey, Nile Monitor, Serval (C2), Striped Ground Squirrel, Banded Mongoose
  • Big Game (4): Spotted Hyena (C5, Rare), Western Kob (C4, Rare), Aardvark (C3 or C4, Uncommon), Yellow-backed Duiker (Rare, Limited Range), African Rock Python (C2, Common)

Hey @proud bronze ! Thanks for sharing this! Phacochère River is a really fresh concept. Overall, it’s a solid, well-thought-out concept with a strong identity. We appreciate the creativity! We’re always looking for ways to improve the player experience and expand the game world, and feedback like yours plays an important role in that process. You can share more of these here: https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

  • Hunt 1 Warthog with a Rifle

  • Hunt 1 Warthog with a Shotgun

  • Hunt 1 Warthog with a Handgun

  • All must be Diamond or Better

  • Crocodile Country: Once in a while we get permits allowing hunters to bag themselves a crocodile, lets see if you can bag yourself some big ones

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal West African Crocodile with a rifle

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal West African Crocodile with a bow or crossbow

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal West African Crocodile with a shotgun

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal West African Crocodile with a handgun

  • Antelope Hunting: While warthog are the main big game species here, there are populations of Bushbuck and Reedbuck, see if you can get some high scoring animals

Wings of Senegal: Many hunters come here specifically to hunt birds. Let's see if you can bag some birds with a shotgun

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Double-spurred Francolin

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Harlequin Quail

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal African Green Pigeon

  • The Pigeon, Quail, Sandgrouse & Francolin must be taken while in flight much like the Pheasants

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Helmeted Guineafowl

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal African Pygmy Goose

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Egyptian Goose

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal Knob-billed Duck

  • Hunt 1 Gold Medal White-backed Duck

  • You must use a Shotgun for this mission

  • The War on Primates: Baboons and Monkeys are notorious for raiding fields and orchards for food, causing damage in the process. Bring their numbers down

  • Hunt 75 Guinea Baboons

  • Hunt 75 Patas Monkey

  • Pest Control: Rodents are a serious problem for local farmers, you would be doing a good service by culling their numbers

  • Hunt 100 Gambian Pouched Rat with either a rifle or shotgun

  • Hunt 100 Greater Cane Rat with either a rifle or shotgun

  • Predator Control: The wolves have been snatching goats and chickens and it may be due to their large population, go ahead and bring their numbers down

  • Hunt 50 African Golden Wolves with a Rifle

  • Hunt 50 African Golden Wolves with a Shotgun

# proud bronze This is my list of other Potential Species that didn't quite make the main list ...

As I stated previously, I have a list of additional species that would be good inclusions on a full size version of this map and for animal pictures we will start with the birds, and as a side note the doves, stone partridge, quail, crake and snipes must be hunted while they are flying, the rest can be shot where they stand

The first 4 images in order are Fulvous Whistling Duck, White-faced Whistling Duck, African Swamphen and African Crake
The next 5 images in order are the Denham's Bustard, Namaqua Dove, Stone Partridge (A distant cousin of the Bobwhite Quail), Great Snipe and Greater Painted Snipe

And for the Big Game Additions

The Spotted Hyena would have a low population on this map with around 3 packs across the entire map consisting of 9 females and 3 males.

The Western Kob would only have about 5 small herds consisting of 2 males and 7 females

The Aardvark would be a bit more common with a unqiue feed zone around termite mounds, but are still relativly uncommon when compared to the abundant warthogs and baboons, and yes putting them as Class 3 is not that unrealistic given that they are bigger then they appear

The Yellow-backed Duiker is not only rare but would have a limited distribution as they are restricted to the areas east of the river, but its enough to support 8 pairs of these giant duikers

On the Rock Python is common enough and headshots are a-okay for them (Its recommended) as they exist wherever potential prey exist and to them everything from grasscutters to bushbucks are a potential meal

This is really good. It's similar, if not better than Africa 2.5 (Sorry, Joe)

Multi-mount Ideas for this Map

  • Mud Pit: 3 Male Warthogs
  • Monkey Party: 4 Patas Monkeys (2 Male & 2 Female)
  • Canine Battle: 2 Male Golden Wolves and 1 Male Guinea Baboon
  • The name refers to both species having long fangs and the baboon having a dog-like face
  • Riverside Ambush: 1 West African Crocodile & 1 Red-flanked Duiker
  • Rat Slayer: 3 Gambian Pouched Rats & 1 Marsh Mongoose
  • Bushbuck Bundle: 3 Male Harnessed Bushbucks
  • Senegal Waterbirds: 1 Male of the following species: Egyptian Goose, Knob-billed Duck, White-backed Duck & African Pygmy Goose
  • Spurfowl Flush: 5 Double-spurred Francolin (2 Males & 3 Females)\

Considering that we are unlikely to get a small sized map, I think I could rework the map and species list to fit a full-sized map with some of the big game, small game and bird species from the Potential (Non-essential) Species List being moved over to the Main (Essential) Species List

# void bramble Why would it be unlikely?

Apparently the devs said they won't be doing another Salzwiesen-sized map, but I am hoping thats not true as an English map with partridge, red grouse pheasant, wood pigeon and snipe alongside some other upland birds plus muntjac, water deer and badger would work well as a Salzwiesen-sized map

#

As for this map concept, I will probably keep the stuff I have for the half-sized version and post what this map idea would look like as a full-sized map within this thread

Also, this map would be absolutely amazing in my opinion (especially the Greater Cane Rats and Gambian Pouched Rats, which would definitely make for some fun hunting (Perhaps the pouched rats could be an excuse to add in Ratshot).

Yeah I was misinterpreting some peoples dissatisfaction with a Salzwiesen-sized/styled map
