Remember we are primarily talking about community challenge rewards here ... Not Daily or even weekly .... I think for daily's and weekly's giving in game credits are appropriate ....
Possibly for a weekly individual challenge they could use some cosmetics ....
But for the community challenges the reward needs to be special .....

In addition if they add player clothing and dog accessories those could be used as prizes as well...

Tents, decoys, scents and ammo would be a cool addition to weekly challenge prizes. Like 1 tent or treestand and 2k for taking down whitetail deer from any stand
That way even if someone can't get the dlc they'll be able to use them

a lovely rifle, and I am sure it would be great in a DLC, but I don't see the developers putting in the work it takes to make a new weapon (and a new ammo caliber) for just a monthly community challenge. Maybe an annual one, however!
Ornate, engraved skins for existing weapons are another story, however.
