I would make it so the storage was organized like the store. I feel like I have to scroll through so many guns to find the one I want because all of the weapons are in the same slot

I'd like to (where applicable) see what size each gun is for without having to check their ammo.
I find the inventory hard to browse and tend to always bring the same loadouts and not buy many new guns. I'm not 100% certain how to alleviate that, but maybe an option to have two rows of items instead of just one? (See more at a glance.)

When you move a gun to your loadout it shows the ammo type so you dont need to know all the ammo types on the top of yourhead

Let me see if I can explain it: it's quite difficult to pair the weapon with the animal you are chasing, because is the ammo that really defines the animal class. IE, if you read about the 30-06 it says good for 4 to 8, but 30-06 soft point will only work on class 4-5, to go to upper classes you need polymer...
Double the cost of the backpacks and remove the penalties so they're useful
More loadouts and add class level to the guns instead of having to search the ammo by caliber.

Weapons show class ranges, ammo auto moves into inventory when weapon is selected, and a horseback option (quieter than 4 wheeler) for travel. Would be great if hunting from horseback was an option, too.

Isn’t it guns that don’t show the class? That’s my issue. Looking at ammo types will show class, the weapons don’t. At least on console.

When you equip a weapon have a pop up that asks what scope/sight and ammo you want to use, that way we don’t have to manually equip everything every time.
This isn't a competitive game, what exactly is overpowered about carrying all the gear you need for a hunt (because all the weapons are class locked for some reason and nowhere near as versatile as they should be) ?
Change's I would make would be,
No.1 Have collapsible categories for each weapon and the ammo they're most used for, bows and their ammo, rifles and their ammo, shotguns and their ammo, handguns and their ammo,

No.2 Ability to favorite any equipment in your storage and a separate category for it allowing for quick and easy access to your favorite stuff so you don't have to go scrolling through everything to switch out one gun or a call etc similar that you can do with cosmetics

I want to see explicitly what ammo a gun uses. I have to swap a lot of back and forth assembling my loadout trying to remember what ammo a gun uses.

On PS4- the weapons never show class type but the ammo does for us haha I can select the reaper but only see animal symbols. As soon as I scroll down to select the ammo for it, then it says class 2-6

Because the guns themselves are just guns. You can’t toss a 7mm at an animal and expect it to die. It’s the ammo that does the killing. Either way the class system needs to be tossed (topic for a different time)

I would like to be able to create “categories” (like the stay, lay down and sit commands in the dog wheel) for things like callers. That would solve the issue of having to swap out callers if there is not enough slots available on the weapon wheel.
Agreed, it would be cool but I fear that adding even more tabs for bolt, lever, etc would make the UI really messy. Maybe they could sort them by that, or have the option to, but not additional tab filters

I’d like to be able to outfit a weapon without having to pick the gun, then scroll to find its compatible ammo and scope. These things should be in a connected menu, like when you shop online and get the “people that bought this also bought this”

I think the summary of what I've seen the most is:

When you equip the load out, if you’re missing anything it should give you a pop up that says exactly what you’re missing and give you the option to buy it or not. At least, it does for me.

Sort by either ping or player count (maybe also time of day?), filter by MULTIPLE reserves (for example show all results for ONLY Te Awaroa and Layton Lakes)
Alright, then when you're in the store or storage UI have a small display under the weapon to show the correct ammunition for it and how much ammunition you have in your inventory with color coded numbers

Inventory UI rework suggestions:
- Add an option to mark weapons/equipment as favorites.
- Add a load-out slot for every DLC/map, so every map can have its own load-out.
- Make more load-out slots available for credits with increasing prices.
- In the equipment menu: make an option to show only compatible ammo for the equipped guns.
- Make an option to only show favorite guns/ammo/equipment.
- Add more categories to the equipment menu for less scrolling
- Make items resalable

I would like to see a fleshed out search tool for the store/storage so you can filter by many metrics; i.e. weapon name/weapon types (e.g. 'M1 Iwaniec', 'bolt', 'semi', 'lever', 'pellet', 'muzzle', 'compound', 'traditional', 'handgun' etc); animal class/animal name ('class 3' shows all ammo of that type, 'red deer' shows lures, scents and ammo (class 6) for red deer, 'turkey' shows ammo, lures and decoys etc); consumables and structures... just a comprehensive search tool. Oh and also make it so compatible items are displayed next to the item/weapon for ease of use (e.g. typing 'lever' would show lever-actions and when you hover over one, all compatable items are displayed below/next to it and can be selected (bought/added) without having to leave that menu (should be consistent for both store and storage).
I can see that confusing a lot of new players though and the tutorial is already not good at all

I would give a search option so you can type in the name of the weapon, ammo etc your looking for. I would also make it so that you can switch your loadouts from just being in the menu as you are walking around not having to have a tent or be at a house.

So under both the weapons and ammo category make some sub categories for Large, Med and Small bore. This should cut down on the amount of scrolling you have to do when looking for something ....

That being said, I do like how it's done in Way of the Hunter: your jeep acts as the cache so you have the cache with you whenever you're on the road

It would be a fleshed out filtering tool. Nothing confusing about it. Its optional. Say you want to target a species, u type that in ('tiger') and will show the appropriate ammo, lures etc for that animal. You hover over an ammo type, and out pops the corresponding gun for it. You would essentially be able to get all you need from 1 menu.

If there could be a separate wheel for all the different calls like if you hover over a call in the wheel it brings out a secondary wheel that has your calls leaving more space for guns, tents, binos, and stands. Also some sort of system to sort out the store/inventory so you don't have to scroll forever

Reduce the weight of the Range finder bow sight. An attachment for a bow shouldn't weight the same as the 223 or 22-250 rifles. If it's going to weight more than other sights, then 1 unit of wight would make more sense than a whole whopping 2 units. It's a small box not a full rifle.

Or like with red dead, the emotes are similar. You can select certain ones to be on shortcuts, and all you have to do is hit a bumper and select the emote using one of the buttons
Probably just have a search bar that you can type in for places like the store or storage/inventory, it'd just help alleviate scrolling down to find what you want and that annoying drop down feature the storage has for your weapons, ammo, etc.
Let console users have a button to attach and detach scopes with out hitting the up button twice, I know not exactly inventory ui related but kinda

This is still very clunky (it doesn't need all the text, prices, etc.), but a hierarchy of items reading from left to right, general to specific (weapon → type → compatible items [or at least possible ammo types]) with selection boxes. (Ideally with Favorites as well.) I would prefer this all on a neutral grey background, neat and clean.
Ammo should always be displayed with the weapon, or possible weapons with a specific ammo types, rather than seperated.
The whole weight system needs a rework IMO.
A very large annoyance I have is the weight of weapons that don't match their performance, such as the "7mm singe shot rifle" weighing 4.5 (?) kg? and the "malmer 7mm" weighing 3.5. (UNIT) What exactly is my intensive to use the singe shot rifle? It is arguably more interesting and more intense as you only have one shot. this greatly improves the feel of a hunt and adds tension and risk. However I am punished by the game for choosing a better experience, since now I cannot fit a stand or a tent in my loadout.
The double barrelled shotguns are 4 is weight yet only have two shots, while the pump or semi are 0.5 (UNIT) lighter. You never have an intensive to use these weapons aside from personal goals.
All weights are either a whole number or a an half, with the exception of the bullets. that have an annoying small weight as mentioned before.
There is a fun to having to balance a loadout to what you are planning to hunt, but it hurts to know that the best options are always to use the same rifle and the same shotguns for all. It gets stale and boring.
Ammunition having such low weighs add nothing to the inventory management, as you cannot carry enough weapons for the ammo of said weapons to exceed 0.5 (UNIT). As a result all that results from the ammo having weight is that you cannot carry a additional caller. All loadouts will be 19.55 or 19.60 to some extent. If you carry a lot of different arrows it can exceed 1 (UNIT) ofc, but that is if only you carry 6+ variations, and that is only possible if you add tracer and non tracer.
The incentive you should give a player is that the weapons with a drawback, have an equal bonus in an other area, such as the air rifle being quieter then a conventional rifle. Weight is the easiest way to balance this. (also the air rifle is very heavy for an air rifle)
I love this game, so many fun memories. I will continue to play it regardless. it just sucks that have to spec so many skill points into the ambusher tree just to be able to play with the rifles that I want. keep in mind it makes the game better if you intensive the use of these weapons.
But an over-under has more metal on it so it should be heavier
That is not true in real life, or in terms of game balancing.

Modern aluminium receiver semis and pumps may be lighter, but not the old steel receiver ones. But we're technically not discussing inventory UI here anymore.

That makes zero sense. It break immersion and realism, which is one of the may draws of the game, or at least it's advertised as such. In what world does a bow attachment weight the same as a bolt action rifle? It wouldn't unbalance the game in the slightest.

Those features are optional because their missions, which you can play the game without, but you stuck with the unit of weight regardless. Your point isn't valid to the argument.

the compatible items also btw serves to allow you to buy ammo directly from the guns page, see what class animals that gun can shoot, and also allows you to see your ammo count and buy additional ammo from it, which i think will be a bit more streamlined. you can also expand and unexpand it

- Inventory wheel weapons info is VERY useful, and would be very beneficial if the same info was visible in the store and your storage
- Navigating through row after row of undistinguished weapons names and icons gets a little confusing. Allow the player to sort by various qualities (hunting tier threshold, calibre, etc) AND/OR change the row view to a scrolling grid, that when hovered over, shows the weapon info.
- Allow the player to buy multiple rounds of ammunition at once
- Allow the player to customize a hotkey for immediate access to inventory (the 'I' key is by default a scoreboard panel, which is useless in singleplayer games) instead of just ESC to default map (what's even the point of 'M'?)
- Display the item/weapon name in the bottom right corner when equipped
i would agree with all them but about the last one, i think if we had that as a toggle on/off thatd be a bit better

Be able to search guns by class. Have a sort feature where you can tick boxes with class 1, class 2, class 3 and so forth all separately. If i ticked class 3, it would show me .243, 7.62x39, .44, etc.

That's what I was thinking, but you are in the storage Menu, and if i get it correctly they want the feedback in the Inventory, F2 in PC, my idea was to get rid of the storage and merge it in the Inventory with the options you draw. so if you are in a Cache, you have the option to pick what ever you want granted you bought in advance, else, yes go to the store. If not in a Cache, just keep it as it is

Also adding I’ve had issues with this, including my whole guns not being saved to their hot bar keys. I routinely have to reput guns in their slots and reply things like scopes and ammo even when using loadouts
I’ll equip a new load out run out to shoot something in front of me and go aw 💀 as I’m forced to let it flee to quickly put either the scope or ammo in or the whole missing gun I’m just carrying around in my pocket unequppied for no reason 😂 if that could be improved that’d be amazing

It's entirely a possibility - but also - what bearing does them selling things back in their game have on you in your game?
Personally I think that even if they did, barring EVERYONE from being able to return an item they did not mean to buy, or did not like after experiencing it is kind of a flop.
Have thought this since day 1 when I first booted the game and bought two of the same weapon before realizing they were literally the same weapon with a different "unique skin".
There could be some limiters in place - such as resell value is clipped, f.i. :
Buy a weapon and it's not able to earn full value back if refunded.
a top up feature for ammo while in your storage would be awesome. a buy 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 rounds. also some guns i have to double check their caliber, so i need to go back a menu to check sometimes. it would beat spamming click, enter to buy a lot of rounds. took me a decent chunk of time to buy 2,500 .22 rounds.
an option to ban players from your current multiplayer session. sometimes a hacker just keeps rejoining your server. theres nothing you can do but close down the multiplayer session.

i like that, but i think it would be cool if you could just pick 3 ranges when your at the range or something. rather than having to cycle through more options

In my sp game it wouldnt annoy me if other people using glitches in their sp game. In mp its a complete different story!
Its simple a no go for me to support glitch users, they already abuse everything they can. (Saw in the last few months so many glitch users, even streaming their game on discord.. for example grinding with the virant rifle loaded with .300 ammo.. only to share later screens of their "legit" rare / g1 /sr.. for which they really switch to a legit weapon for the specific kill.)
The argument could be made that people are going to hack no matter what - and it is arguably easier to just use any of the money based ones than to waste time buying and reselling weapons you no longer need?
Also - knowing that people are likely hacking - would you really be out there in MP?
Do you play with other people enough that this could be an issue if you aren't hosting a friends only game?
Aslong as the connection of other people can/do have an effect on my reserve file, it matters. 🙃.
But back to topic - more loadout slots would be nice.
I'd love to be able to buy ammo in bulk rather than clicking 100 times for 1k ammo. Make it like 1-100 and you can either scroll to the number you want or enter the number you want. For me, I'd type 100 every time. But not just ammo, do it for tents, tripods, all that stuff too!

Calibers are shackled to fixed classes bc of class locked ammo. Calibers we have ingame typically cover 2-8 / 4-9 game authentically. Ex. 300wm is actually a 4-9 caliber not exclusively a 7-9. 308 is a 2-8 not a 4-8 etc. Thats what he's implying. EW botched caliber use by limiting calibers to 1 ammo applications for both SP's & PT's.
In terms of UI I'd like to not have to keep switching between wheel & list when slotting my equipment. As for the store weapons should be categorized better. Weapon type, action, then when you've selected your weapon a 3rd window with all the weapons ammo & accessory options. I hate pushing X (Xbox) to see compatibility options. Sell back option would be nice as well. I love the various options however its time consuming to cycle through your storage to find weapons & ammo if you have nearly every weapon & variant. Furthermore, I'd like to see EW add G/Gr weight to the ammo with a slight buff to SP's as part of the update since PT's render SP's useless. For gameplay up on the D-Pad it allows you to switch to irons or optics. I'd like to go up on the D-Pad to optics & use Left & Right on the D-Pad to select my scope over opening the wheel menu to switch optics. I'd request to go up on the D-Pad twice to then select ammo in the same way.
Yes, that’s how EW has set the game up. I know what y’all are talking about, but you’re focusing on changing/getting rid of the class system, which is a different conversation entirely. The original messages were talking about how the guns should have the same information shown (class type) on their page as the ammo for them does. Nothing further than that haha
I get it I just wanted to clarify what he was saying. However, I do agree that calibers (since their class locked) should appear in order from low to high over alphabetical/#'d order. A filter option would fix this and allow players to quickly find what they want over scrolling over & over to find gear.
100% agree with ya. Also, since y’all were talking about it, I wouldn’t mind the classes getting expanded but the class system itself should stay in place (IMO). It helps to put things in perspective especially for those that are younger or don’t hunt IRL and know what caliber can be used on what animal (ethically)

I'd rather ditch the #'d classes and replace it with authentic game categories instead. It would be easier to use the game icons over #'s but that's my opinion. I proposed a reasonable option for class expansion to EW utilizing the 2 ammo options to be more like the Hudzik. But a filter with window options would be more ideal than scrolling through every item. I'd like to see this applied using the D-Pad ingame over using the wheel as well esp. for selecting ammo & optics.

I’d appreciate a more compartmentalized grouping of weapons, scopes, ammo & such.
Even subcategories basic as: Rifles, handguns, shotguns, bows. Etc.
I’m on PS4 and scrolling through every weapon, scope, ammunition option with a controller is a bit of a pain.
The truth is that the inventory format is very easy to select compared to other games. This is one of the best and is very easy to use and understand.
I think guns should weigh more.

yeah, I think its a little unrealistic that I can carry 4 rifles and a couple tents.
Why?
The units are in kg’s so for example the .270 is 8.8lbs and the bolt action .338 weighs 11lbs. Pretty on point for me.

I agree with him as it would add diversity from the various stock materials. I'd go further and have it affect recoil & stability further. Though I'd love to see this applied with weapon slot options for stocks, barrels, & muzzle attachments.

Well its more so about the amount of weight I can hold. Even without a backpack being able to hold so many guns makes it so you don't need to diversify your loadout depending on what you want to hunt, you can just carry whatever you want at all times.
I don’t really see that as a problem though, just diversify your load out when you want to, it’s still an option
I get your point I find it outlandish to carry more than 1 weapon & a sidearm w/o a pack to carry 2 main & 1 sidarm unless you pack multiple pistols.

True but even so more than 3 rifles max is a bit much as a title that advertises as authentic. But I'll give leeway given its an 8+yr title. But EW has strayed from how it used to be esp. with G1's. They used to be realistic & I quit looking for them after they started going to a fantasy theme.
Expecially since loadouts are busted for me and don’t work half the time and we still don’t have a 1-3 rifle, which would make it super annoying
And COTW is still one of the most authentic ones I’ve seen in terms of immersion / game feel, maybe not mechanics or game function (which is fine I think games are able to portray different types of things differently) but there’s a reason I haven’t really bothered looking at any other hunting title that prattles on about how “realistic” they are.
Also none of the G1s have particularly stuck out as fantasy to me, sure some can be kinda out there but nothing huge.
But on a related note item weight & carry capacity should be reevaluated, with the pack in mind. I wont use it bc the penalty is way too high same with using dogs.

On this topic, there is a mechanic they implemented in GTAO that gives users less $$$ back the more vehicles they sell on that particular day. The first time is 50% price of the item, and each subsequent sell/refund gives you less each time. You have to sell vehicles on multiple days to keep getting a decent return back. That was one of the changes they made to combat glitches. COTW could do something similar.
Very few guns even have a price so that point is irrelevant.

I don’t know if it’s been said but have the chance to disable guns you don’t use or the flip side being favorite the guns you do use just so the inventory is less of a clutter for long time players

Ability to use sprays and health from the inventory menu
Show the class the ammo allows for, in range, for each weapon.

add an easier way to see the class of the rifle instead of having to go enter the ammo menu, it gets way too clustered when you have lots of guns and ammo.

What if instead of selecting ammunition by a bulk value, you just select the value you want to carry/maintain..
That way you just get a price you want in a fraction of the time. 🤓
Pair that with a function that favorites your currently equipped gear at the top of the list and perhaps a sell back function of some sort. 🤠
Another option for clutter:
Rental weapons and corresponding ammunition.
Ie. If you’ve a challenge with say, a particular caliber, just rent it from the store for a comparatively nominal fee. Once you’ve returned it, that weapon is no longer populating inventory.

I have 3 millions in game and I don't know what to do with it. (not grinder). I want a reset button in menu for the maps. Maybe 100-300 000 for one time.
Three rows of tabs and defaults faves, rifles, shot guns, pistols bows, 2nd row faves, rifle , shotgun, pistol, arrows. 3rd row faves, scopes, binocs, lures, comsumables, tents & tripods
Then you build your unlimited loadout saves by toggling items through faves tabs with loadout weight updating per toggle/detoggle
Sell ninja ruck sacks or make a challenge that rewards and gives you larger loadouts and they make no or reduced noise/visibility
Please a button to drop things we don’t need. I got all the Solokhins before deciding what skin I liked the most. Multiply this mistake by number of weapons with multiple skin option choices and now I have all my storage full of triples of the same guns I never use… takes me half an hour before scrolling down to shotguns through all rifles and pistols on PS5…
Also would be nice to have stats / gun record shown here for the gun highlighted, similar to what we can see when guns are on display in Saseka Trophy Lodge mounts (would be appreciated by people whom don’t have the DLC 🙂)

100% want to see: Compatible ammo popup in parallel with weapon, buying ammo in bulk, selling ammo back, weights balanced, and charge more for backpacks but remove the noise penalty as they're currently useless.

Exactly... this is why i would'nt like to see it in cotw. Having to clean sports guns irl after usage is enough.
I like it in Red Dead since the game is meant to be very realistic for the most part, but for COTW it would just be a hassle and an inconvenience.
It wasn’t implemented very well in rdr2 and I doubt COTW will do much better
shrug just a thought. We have plenty of firearms and bows (tho we're lacking small game weapons) and they're pretty well organized. The maps are huge and plentiful of game. But from someone who has hunted irl, being "perfect" can somewhat be disappointing sometimes

The only thing i noticed that needs fixing is trophy management, i have so many animals taxidermied and i don’t want to go through the list to delete stuff because it takes so long. I suggest maybe a search bar or an easier way to scroll through it because it resets everytime you delete something. I’ve played this game every day since 2 years ago and even some time before that as well, and i have taxidermies to delete at the bottom. Haven’t got the time for it, i don’t have half a day to spare for that. Please make this change and sorry for being dramatic somewhat

I’m seeing a lot of people say add ammo automatically but that’s actually a bad thing cause of inventory weight management.
What should be added is Filters, Show what classes a weapon/ammo is meant for, Search bar, Weapon sub-category tabs/ammo sub-category tabs for shotguns bows and rifles and pistols.
Also add a favorites tab and be able to favorites any item.
That also use the same tabs system to help players prevent even less scrolling

A quick swap of some kind for ammo types, Hold R to swap ammos you have in your bag and a small UI shows up that you can use scroll wheel to select ammo

But as mentioned a few comments above a search function and/or sorting function.
However I think the sorting function should cycle through the different types of equipment, something like:
- Rifles & its relative sights
- Handguns & its relative sights
- Bows & its relative sights
- Large equipment & deployables
- Small equipment & callers
you can do this now with the radial menu ("weapon wheel") with ammo types and sights

When i select a rifle from the storage to put in my inventory I would like to see a popup, if i want to add the matching ammo too. (In doubt: All matching ammo variants, if they are bought in the storage)
Same thing upon putting a gun back into storage.
Why a popup? In case I have another rifle using the same ammo in the inventory I want to decide by myself if I want to put the needed ammo back into the storage too...
Other option would be to unload the ammo only if there is no other gun using these ammo types. This would be even more convinient but would require more intelligence in the software code

I would add a favorites list and a weight (tier) list for guns. The favorites list would add a gun with ammo and attachments already equipped to your inventory. The weight list would organize guns by what tier (1-9 or 9-1) they have the ammo for (some weapons like the muzzleloader and bows have different ammo types for different tiers so their listings would reflect this.

I give cotw advice often enough in the classic chat and then go "Ohhh right.. They share a map name.. I'll see my way out."
Automatically add the items to your hot wheel instead of going to your shop adding it to inventory then going to pause menu to add it to your hot wheel
When looking in storage have sub catagories instead of a long list under your weapons for instance weapons>caliber>individual rifles makes it alot faster and be able to see what class the weapons for without looking at the ammo
Please no. I have a certain logic in sorting my items in the weapon/equipment wheel. I don't want the game to interfere with it. And: Upon saving a certain loadout the game saves the position in the weapon wheel, so... you have it already... kinda... but please no auto-adding... leave it just as it is: Store just the position of items in the wheel upon saving loadouts.

I have 8 presets and just two gun-empty sets. But even the last ones are filled with a certain logic (biggest class rifle in a certain spot, next smaller rifle in aother spot and so on...) i love muscle memory
