#Timberfalls Hunting reserve (Oregon Inspired)

Good idea, but wouldn't it kinda "break" the point of a break action rifle pack? Pun intended btw.
I missed that part
lol no problem xD
I got an Idea for the last weapon in the weapon pack. Maybe a .350? Then it would be 9.3x62, 7mm-08 and the .350 all in break action form.
Black bear could use a behavior rework.
True, but still, wolves will add an extra fun element to the map IMO
Timbergold is based on the Rocky Mountains, not Washington/Oregon. It also has Grizzly Bears on it, which Layton does not have.
This isn’t Layton though, it’s a complete different reserve
Everyone knows what you're doing here though, it's clearly meant to be a Layton remake without calling it that.
Thats not what I’m trying to do but okay 🤷
okay my bad, I misread the title of this thread.
just forget that I mentioned Layton then, it's not a big deal
Layton is in Washington, not Oregon. PLUS even if it was in Oregon, we have two German maps. I’m just trying to share an Idea that I had.
yeah I get it, I had this thread confused with the other one about a Layton revamp. My mistake
Oh, that makes sense, sorry for the misunderstanding then.
if there's gonna be a whole new Pacific Northwest reserve, surely you can put wolves on it. It's not necessary in my opinion but it wouldn't be a terrible idea either.
Yeah, putting wolves on Layton was a bad idea on my part. I wouldn’t like getting jumped by wolves as I’m hunting to earn cash/xp.
if we do get another map with wolves though, I definitely think wolves would need a rework to their models and fur types. They don't look great currently.
Yeah, I mentioned remodel in the species list. Luckily, wolves are getting new furs soon because of the community vote alongside mule deer. (I think Mule deer, correct me if I’m wrong)
yeah I just mean that I wouldn't want them looking the way they are currently on a new map
Definitely not, most of the older species need remodels. Like Bighorn, Caribou, Grizzlies, wolves etc.
agreed
I think the caribou might be getting a remodel. We know the new map is going to be a winter map, so I’m assuming Canada or Greenland, which both has Caribou, so fingers crossed 🤞
Also I correct myself, Timbergold is Based on the Rocky Mountains.
5 of the 6 North American Reserves are US Reserves (Rancho is confirmed to be located in Sonora, Mexico), and while a new USA map wouldn't be bad, it can wait till we get exotic locales like the Arctic, the Amazon and at least 2 more African maps, unless of course it was a Salzwiesen-sized map with a lot of upland game like grouse and quail and small game like badger and marmot
That was half-half my idea, hence why I called it a “map we get in winter” because we wouldn’t get much new species. It wouldn’t be Salzwiesen size but rather be a “filler” reserve where they already released a massive update in June, now a smaller update in December.
If we get another U.S. map eventually I think Texas or Florida would be the best choice simply because of how many exotic species you can hunt there. Although I'd still love to eventually get another map set in the mountains of the American West. Oregon, California, Utah or a proper remake of TGT from Classic would all be pretty awesome in my opinion, but I agree that it can wait until we have more maps that are outside of North America.
Do I see beaver?
I do totally agree, but you’re kinda missing my main point. Maps outside the US (and Texas and Florida) are maps that would require multiple new exotics and species, like EC and Sundar. This would be easier on the devs as a “quick” release as a new map, with only a few small game new species.
Is Layton not inspired off of Washington/Oregon? I don’t see how this is really different from Layton.
Yep, surprised we don’t have them yet xD
Yea
Layton is Washington, so I see your point, but there are multiple other species that aren’t on Layton here. Also, I do say on the bottom of the post this is similar to Layton, but not entirely.
yeah I totally get that. I'd be okay with getting another NA map that doesn't have a lot of new species, especially if it's in between bigger releases. If we have to get a map like that though, I would personally want a map based on Kodiak Island, because there's a lot of species there that would make for a really cool species lineup in my opinion.
Ooo a Kodiak Island map is actually a very cool and unique idea!
#1118713888410706042 here's my Kodiak Island map idea, I made it ages ago but I still would love to see it get added to the game someday
Cool Bison fur type I found online, they could really benefit from getting a remodel and new fur types.
Also found this cool Leucistic coyote
3 Hybrid Mallards I found online.
picture 1: American black duck
picture 2: Wood Duck
picture 3: American Wigeon
Potential “Spotted” fur type for Mountain Lions
A Unique Grey Bighorn variant that could be a cool uncommon fur if they get a remodel.
To my knowledge those are Fannin Sheep, a hybrid between Stone Sheep and Dalls Sheep.
Oop my bad, I looked up bighorn sheep and this came up. It could still be a cool fur type though
Gadwall x Mallard hybrid
Cool Spirit Black bear, IK it’s a G1 variant, but just as a white fur type it could be cool
Albino American 🦡
The missions for this reserve will grant you the unique opportunity to hunt 3 map exclusive fur types. The first being Chompy , a piebald beaver, then moving on to Raptor, a melanistic Pronghorn, and then finally Slasher, the very aggressive old Silver mountain lion living in the reserve for a while, but recently started killing for sport and attacking hikers.
The raccoon and bobcat are tier 2
I know, but let’s be real, bobcat are too big for tier 2, while raccoons are too small for tier 2 ,so, this update would re-class a few species, like the pronghorn back to tier 4.
I think the same except for the raccoon, they can get very big!!!
They can, but not in this game; they are in the same class range as bobcats and coyotes, which, quite frankly doesn't make much sense. Shooting a Raccoon with the Quist is, for some reason, ethical when it shouldn't be. They should be class one.
They are ok in 2.
And 7.62x39 is perfectly fine on raccoon
Ideally, it would have its own intermediate class, because it makes no sense to be able to shoot a quail with the same ammunition as a raccoon.
But between class one and two the best option is class two.
There’s not a single class 2 rifle that isn’t ethical on raccoons (except .243 and .30-30)
.45LC, .223, 7.62x39, 22-250 all make phenomenal raccoon calibers.
There's a reason they were class 1 back when Mississippi came out. I agree that shooting a quail and a raccoon with the same gun is quite strange; it's already doable with 10-gauge birdshot so that it wouldn't be super weird. Still I feel a lot of guns (like mentioned the .243 and the .30-30) are too powerful for the in game raccoons. They should probably instead just get upsized from their tiny size
wouldn’t this just be better solved by accurate classes that reflect what is actually used in class 2’s?
That's the better option, but I don't think they'll do that, it would take way too much change, and some players might not want that. So, just upsizing raccoons a bit could fix the problem.
Making a whole new class is harder than rebalancing the 2-4 already existing class 2 guns?
I didn't say make a whole new class, I said just make raccoon models bigger to fit class 2.
But I agree with rebalancing 2-4 guns to be more accurate to their real-life counterparts.
They are pretty normal sized raccoons
Not for a class 2 species, though. Every class 2 in the game is bigger than them.
Gray fox, Tibetan fox, 70% of all the bobcats I’ve seen in game don’t outweigh them.
They are pretty on par with the rest of class 2
Okay, I see, you can have this one
