#Layton “Revamp” (Take 2)

I disagree with the backfilling of several animals to Layton Lakes with the main ones being Wolf, Bison and Pronghorn and to a lesser extent Mule Deer, Pheasant & Rocky Mountain Elk, it feels like this would turn Layton Lakes into a mish-mash of Layton Lakes mixed together with most of the other North American reserves in one way or another
I will add that bighorn sheep, mountain goat, the waterfowl, raccoon and a small population of mountain lion would be good inclusions
By a small population of mountain lion I mean they should occur in the mountainous areas of Layton with a generally limited population similar to how tigers and snow leopards have a limited population on Sundarpatan, and it would be these same mountains that the sheep and goat would inhabit while the raccoons would be relegated to the low elevation areas
While wolves and pronghorn antelope do occur within Washington and Oregon, I feel they are better suited for the maps they already occur on and if we were to get an additional map with pronghorn it would be somewhere either in the Great Plains (Alongside Bison) or somewhere else within the United States (Nevada, Utah, maybe California or Texas). With wolves their next likely appearance is probably on the Summer 2025 Reserve (Which is currently being predicted as being a Canadian Arctic Reserve with species like Polar Bear & Muskox)
As far as Mule Deer and Rocky Mountain Elk go the animals on Layton Lakes would require a massive redistribution of animals to include them and that is the only major problem I see with introducing those 2 animals to Layton
And for Pheasant, I would rather see birds like Ruffed Grouse & Sooty Grouse added to Layton Lakes over Pheasant
Given Layton is supposed to be a PNW map, I don’t particularly agree with the addition of bison.
Although what id really want are more mountains a central range where the big lake is, moving the lake east. We could also use a ton of ambient changes.
In place of bison I’d take beaver.
Okay, so I understand most people don't want bison on this map, including some other species. Do you think I should just remove them from the list. Also regarding the addition of new species, I know it is entirely possible, but I don't think it is probabilty. Also with the Mountain Lions, it would make sense giving them a small population, almost like the Pumas in classic. Regarding wolves, they could also have only a small population mainly in the Roonachee area and the areas up north from it.
For lions
Small population + behavior rework
Makes sense, but what about the other species, I had ideas for them, but I want to hear from others before
I can go without gray wolf if I’m being honest.
It’s illegal to hunt them in Oregon and more prominently Washington and they don’t really add much except frustration for new players.
Okay, I see your point, but keep in mind Moose also go aggressive and we have Tigers and Snow leopards in the game, but I understand that they could be annoying.
moose also don't have pack hunting behavior and don't spook other animals, so that's a bit different
You kinda missed my point on the legality bit
Wolves don’t add much and are illegal whereas tigers were the main selling point and add a ton to sundaepatan
Okay, yeah I see that
Layton is also a beginners' map and having new players get ambushed by a pack of wolves doesn't sound like a great idea
The tigers impact on the player is also fairly minimal outside of the occasional jumpscares.
