I know there was some adjustment made to dog pathing in the last update .... But since the update and even at full bond with the heel command they run too far behind or away from the owner.

They will stop and refuse to go any further even with no obsticals in the way ... ... I have to constantly back track to get them to move ??? Not sure whats involved but this just started happening with the last patch ....

Please look into this .... very borderline making the dog unusable ...

Same here, there's some weird stuff going on with dog pathing since the update. Another new odd behavior is when you Fast Travel to a nearby tent, like across a lake, the dog doesn't travel with you, instead he swims to you which takes forever.

There's a radius of the map that's loaded into active memory when you travel to a tent or outpost - you'll notice when you travel nearby, the relocation happens immediately instead of going to the loading screen. It's within this radius that the dog won't travel with you, but runs or swims to you.

Yes I used to never have to think about my dog being with me ... he is fully trained but now Im having to constantly check to see if he's still following .... a great deal of the time he is way far behind and even with the heel command. I thought maybe EW made some change to the dog behavior when he loses bond ... but even at full bond he does the same ..... and sometimes just stops and looks at you refusing to come to you om heel .... Something is definitely not right since the last patch ....

Right, I used to never worry about where he was too. Couple things I've noticed...
-The new cool hopping through water then shaking animation is causing some issues - when running through a marshy area or around the curve of a lake, he never stops hopping and shaking, and you get farther away.
-When he's stuck 300m away and staring at you, if you look at him through your binos sometimes he comes sprinting.

Yeah mt bloodhound tracker /seems to have learned some behaviors from my retriever even though his secondary skill is pointer.... He likes to jump play in the water and swim!!! He never used to swim across a body of water ??? He'll also make an extremely load splashing noise when near a body of water .....

The water issues I can deal if working as intended .... but the not obeying commands and lagging behind even when fully bonded needs to be fixed

I've stopped using the dog on several maps because he just stands there - it's more distracting than it's worth
-Yukon, Cuatro, SRP, New England, Vurhonga, Emerald, Sundarpatan...

This is a sad situation with all the work that EW put into dogs to not at least acknowledge whats going on with dogs .... at least for now let us know that you are aware of the situation and your working to fix it ....

The dog is useless. Travel to an outpost and the dog is just sitting there. Fix this bs or get them out of the game. Give me my money back. This is an other example of devs changing stuff in the game that makes a purchase useless or even broken.

I think I would be considered a casual player so not much time to test ... But this seems to be happening with only one of my dogs ... My main tracker bloodhound exhibits this behavior .... Which doesn't make sense because he's my first and oldest dog .... Don't know why only one dog would be bugged like this ??? I have all three dogs ....

I have trouble with all dogs lagging behind. They still get stuck crossing bridges and also now follow so slow, that you often have to wait for the dog. E.g. when i last time had my retriever with me, looking for small game, it lagged almost 200m behind me. I have to conatantly recall it and re-assign it to search small game. And this is just one example of many.

Yes! Glad other people noticed too! It’s been bothering me. They were perfect before, not sure why they had to change them. The pathing is far worse now. My dog wouldn’t come for a whole hour last night, no matter what I did.

They also lag behind a crazy amount now, especially while tracking- it seems like the same dog that used to race ahead of me while tracking is dawdling around, taking its sweet time doing everything… I end up finding the harvest before they do, which didn’t used to be the case.

This has veen making me lose my mind, I have to wait a century for my bloodhound to get to me so I just track it myself

The other really annoying thing about this, is if the dog has to traverse water to get to you. Every few meters, no matter how deep the water, it does the 'shake off' animation which just wastes a bunch of time.

Can we please get an acknowledgement and a FIX from EW? This just renders the dogs an annoyance. 😵 We paid for them, so we need to get them in a working implementation.

The issue is hard to document in that its a issue of how they worked before as to how they work now .... We can on;y make a video showing how the dog follows now . We know a change was made with the last update and it has totally changed how dogs follow ... This is also aggravated by it seeming to affect some dogs more than others .... At least in my observation .....

The dog lags too far behind meaning when you want them to track it takes them too long to catch up so you can issue the track command .... Im not sure if it would work better if the dogs bond last for lnger than a few minutes but they seem to go idle so quickly it's hard to tell

Okay but then, in the same vein, if we can't document dogs getting stuck/not following commands etc as has also been highlighted in here - has any outreach to the Devs been made re: ticket to Support team?

Even if no video can be added - reporting a bug is still helpful because it puts it on their radar to try and replicate

@fickle tree My suggestion to the dev team is to review what changes they made previously ... WE know they made changes ... WE just dont know why it was necessary to make those changes

Things like:
"Using a lab but also taught it to track and -" can be just as helpful because it may highlight that it's a problem happening with the lab, or with the two "professions" etc

Not as easy to document because now dogs have multiple skills so it's not just a issue of breed .... It may be connect to the secondary skill as well ....

And I specify in a ticket because while the Devs do read the discord, they do not sit and filter comb through it.

They could very well miss this thread.

A ticket, even if just text and highlighting the things experienced can very well be pushed by Support to the QA and Devs to have it on their dashboards as well as whatever they are cooking in the meantime

@fickle tree Asking us to document whats wrong is just as difficult when the devs have the code and presumably they should know what they changed .... All we can say is there is somethin g wrong in how far the dog will lag behind and because they lag behind they are getting stuck more and refusing to follow ...

For me personally I have my very first bloodhound who is trained at tracking 100% but I dont use him anymore because my lab who is trained secondary in tracking at only 15% seems to follow better and doesnt get stuck as much as the bloodhound ...

Its to the point that I don't use the bloodhound because I want to play the game and not spend what time I do have trying to document what they change to cause the problem .... That's why I say they need to review there most recent changes and communicate what they changed and why ?

They have that info but we don't ... All i know is I have one dog especially that lags behind too far and then gets stuck on some kind of invisible boundary and refuses to follow .....

Just because the Devs have the code and "know what has been done" does not necessarily equate to "The Devs see the same issues that we are experiencing"

So your points, while valid (i get it, documenting it is hard) are not solely justified to "not extend out any help".

But as I stated prior, even just text saying "this is my experience with this dog who knows this and has this cross trait" could be enough for them to go closer and examine the coding involved in all that

Then not just community eyes, but also Support/QA eyes and then hopefully Devs

Heck you could even write a short ticket and "there are a series of experiences with the dogs highlighted here that we have issues with" and then just link this thread from the first post.

Which surprises me how few people have responded that they are seeing the same thing ..... I dont know if people are not usin g the dogs that much or they have just given up ....

I know for me I have one dog that seems to behave better .... Not as good as it did before the change but at least I can use it .... But I have heard some players that have just stopped using dogs altogether because of this problem ....

I have lagging behind issues with all 3 dogs. Sometimes they get stuck far behind me and don't move at all (e.g. they can't cross bridges, find their way around fences etc.) and sometimes they are just so slow that they extremly behind. And they don't catch up fast. The changed pathing since the laat update made things very very bad compared to the state before

Ewww... played today with my bloodhound. It is so slow, it got rather useless. The pathing got so bad, i can't find any words. I better track stuff myself, than with the dog.

All three dogs have bad pathing. Please EW, fix this. We paid for it.

The dog in MP is really a big disaster. It keeps getting stuck on the right side (the only option is to turn the game off and on) or it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I hope I'll see this bug where the dog gets stuck on the right side fixed someday

The dogs won’t retrieve to you when you are in water or above it, if you are in a treestand that is above water the dog will just bring the harvest to you and put it back where it picked it up, same if you are in a water layout blind

this is getting worse the last few days! found out that reloading the map fixes it, but only for a short periode of time
