#Sundarpatan came dry

Gandhare I guess comes from Gandhara, and Gandhara is a region in Western India and Pakistan. Nepal has the Gurkha Rifle, not Gandhara!
While I agree with you on many of the species for the most part, there’s some that I disagree with you on.
For one, Hog Deer are not found in Nepal and haven’t been found there for centuries.
Secondly, Indian Elephants are incredibly rare in Nepal, with approximately 200 animals found, and many of those are in protected lands.
Now for the “Gurkha” rifle. The Gurkha Rifle is not an actual rifle, rather it is a regiment of riflemen in the British army made up of Nepalese men.
The Gandhare Rifle is also not a real rifles name, rather it’s simply the in game stand in name for the Martini-Henry Single Shot. It is a fitting weapon as it is a popular milsurp hunting rifle and was a military firearm in Nepal and the British Raj up until 1918.
I’m confused as to what you thought was unnecessary?
Probably the Wooly Hare and Greylags, which I personally agree with. Wooly Hares were not a needed nor wanted species and the Greylags should’ve been replaced with Bar-Headed geese. Everything else fits very well though.
I actually quite like the wooly hare model and reserves feel empty without rabbits. OP made it seem like sundarpatan came full of unnecessary things.
I will agree on graylags. Nobody goes to Nepal to hunt geese.
I would’ve preferred some kind of upland game instead of rabbits, but I will agree that their model is very good.
Ive been meaning to do a revised sundarpatan species list for awhile now. I’ll get around to it eventually.
There are a handful of species that I think need to be on the map, particularly Sloth Bear and Asiatic Black Bears.
I think the woolly hare should have been restricted to the Himal region given they are only found in the high altitude areas of Nepal
Also Hog Deer do still occur in Nepal with Bardia National Park being one place to see them (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/369181581_First_photographic_record_of_albinism_in_hog_deer_Axis_porcinus_from_Bardia_National_Park_Nepal#:~:text=Hog Deer or Laguna (Axis,barely%20found%20in%20the%20park. is a link to a paper about albinism in hog deer within that national park)
It’s the lack of axis deer for me, I can do without the bears as a Japan reserve is a possibility in the future
The barssignha should’ve had a wayyyy smaller population
I agree with that, but I do like Barasingha. What really should have a smaller population is Water Buffalo and Blackbuck, particularly Blackbuck. There are only about 200 Blackbuck in all of Nepal, and only about 500 wild Water Buffalo.
Didn’t one of the missions imply that the buffalo on Sundarpatan might actually be hybrids between domestic and wild water buffalo and therefore fair game
Plus if the buffalo on Sundarpatan were wild they would of had an entirely separate entry in the codex given they are classified as Bubalus arnee
I did the missions so long ago that don’t remember
All water buffalo in COTW are under the binomial name of Bubalus bubalis, making them feral buffalo
Well still, that leaves the Blackbuck whose population should not be that high. There’s probably as many blackbuck on Sundarpatan alone as there is in all of Nepal irl.
I agree with that
Well, Bardia National Park, Chitwan National Park and Shuklaphanta National Park, all of which are extremely similar to Sundarpatan's Pahad (it's actually pronounced as Pahar, meaning mountain) and terai, do have Hog Deer and huge Elephants
Which one?
I don’t remember, its been a while
I agree on SOME of these animals, but I do believe that for those we just need another Asian map around that area instead of all on one map
Yeah lmao because we have like 4 maps from North America
All of them are very different. Representing very different eco regions.
Sad
That’s good. Not sad.
Ishayu's dad
I would have loved to see Sloth bear and Indian leopard personally, ESPECIALLY leopards. Also always did find it odd how they didn't add Sambar deer to this map, seeing as they're an important deer species for the Bengal tiger. Same for Axis deer.
Not this post, the other one. The one titled "tigers weigh too much"
I know. I'm talking about this one too.
Ohh
And we could easily have 2 or 3 more North American maps with brand new species, for example: Northern Canada (Arctic), Southern Mexico (Jungle), and the Everglades (Swamp). All of these could have unique and interesting species.
We already have mississippi as swamp, but maybe they could consider everglades cuz american crocodile
We have 6
Don't care, delete half and make more Europe maps, there are too many in NA, only one we need ever again is arctic Canada, and that's it.
True, northern canada and then go elsewhere
Yeah, because Europe totally has a lot of big game diversity…it’s not like it’s the same 4-5 big game animals across the whole continent.
Same with america..
North America has no less than 17 big game animals that you can hunt, and well over 40 if you include all the subspecies as well.
Europe has Roe, Red, and Fallow Deer, Ibex, Wild Boar, and Brown Bears. That’s about it. Maybe you can throw European Bison in there but that’s still less than half of what North America has.
Chamois and Mouflon yeah
We have way more, seems like classic American knowledge, Germany is the only country that exists in Europe am I right?
Still, Europe hardly compares to North America. I could see one or 2 more Europe maps as large maps, one in the Balkans and one in the alps. Other than that it’s only really small game maps that could happen.
America has moose, mallard, whitetail, maybe black bear, repeat.
American knowledge am I right? 2-3 depending on the metric and source of the Top 5 universities on the planet…
Just pointing out that Mr. Schrader seems to think Germany is the only country in the continent of Europe considering the animals he mentioned
He covered a vast majority of the game you can hunt in mainland Europe… the list doesn’t get much bigger if you head north lol.
"vast majority" proceeds to mention 7 out of maybe 20 big game animals
Italy maybe ukraine
Norway, italy, some Balkan country
We aren’t counting invasives to my knowledge and it wouldn’t really matter much.
Wolves - illegal
Bear - illegal in most areas with few exceptions (Sweden, Russia, Croatia, etc)
Reindeer - Highly Regulated and MOSTLY ILLEGAL
Lynx - Rare and Very Regulated
Wolverine - Highly Illegal
Seals - highly regulated and mostly illegal
Whereas most large game is huntable and quite sensible in North America. Let’s be open minded.
For example, nobody goes to Europe to hunt Polar Bear.
Moose
In like 3 countries and maybe 2-3 micronations.
Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and Belarus (if you’re insane enough to go there) allow hunting of moose, but that’s it to my knowledge.

And excluding the feral pigs I think I covered most of the native big game species & subspecies that can currently be hunted in Canada, the United States and Mexico irl (based on what I know)
Let’s See, of the widely hinted and available big game animals in Europe there’s: Red Deer, Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Chamois, Alpine Ibex, Mouflon, and Wild Boar. Right there is 7 animals.
There are some places that allow Moose, Brown Bears, and Reindeer, but other than that there’s no new big game to add other than Invasives (such as Aoudad, Kri Kri, Racka Sheep, and Jacobs Four-Horn Sheep to a map set in the Balkans like Croatia, North Macedonia, or Albania).
Don’t forget the Manbearpig
And that right there is over 40, not even including most subspecies. Theres at least 6 caribou subspecies, 5 popular Whitetail subspecies, and not taking into account the 5 Turkey subspecies we have (Merriam’s, Rio Grande, Eastern, Osceola, and Goulds).
Funny enough European Mouflon are not even considered a true subspecies of the Mouflon as it is believed to be a descendant of feral sheep that existed on Corsica and Sardinia since the Neolithic Period 7,000 years ago (no mouflon were present on tue islands before 7,000 years ago)
18 or 19 of these could be hunted in British Columbia alone if I counted correctly. Canada needs some maps in this game!!!!
aka the next one
