what do you guys think about the new dlc? I find two weapon packs with just rifles right after each other very boring. I am not into real life hunting but I rather don't care which gun I use if they are similar: I don't care whether it's the solokhin or the M1 for example.
I like the old weapon packs 1-3 because each one had sth special (recurve, crossbow, .22lr, Vasquez). Or even the moradi .44 is unique because of the penetration and needing to be zeroed perfectly.
I think they should do more unique things like the ones I mentioned.

I not irl hunter therefore waiting only a new 2-6. Because in the game everything is decided by the bullet not the origin of the rifle.
All the new rifles models look amazing, I'm disappointed that the .308 isn't a 7.62×54R rifle though, seeming that all the rifles are of rifle origin, would have been nice to get a new 7.62×54R rifle, a new better penetrating load for it and an update weapon class (3-8). I guess we'll have to wait and hope for the SVD-40
Meh. Lacking variety. Definitely a pass imo.
I'd buy the sks/2-6 rifle if it was standalone
Nothing to get excited about .... I predict it will be the least purchased of the weapons DLC's
i know but this isnt about ammo type or sth its about variety in weapons without knowing much about ammo etc, like unique weapons. nothing is like the vasquez for example
The post I made is directly about unique weapons…
bro literally everything is just rifles with ammo wtf
The only saving grace for me on the next update is tahr on Te Awaroa. Don't really need the guns.
My honest thoughts about it is "OK." I dont mind the model variant or the Semi-auto action. My issue is lack of caliber diversity. 7.62x39 is perfect with the SKS. The other 2 we didn't want or ask for another 30.06 or 308 that both already have bolt & semi-auto options. I wouldn't care to get either 1 in a new action. But given the theme all 3 should be relative to model origin (Russian) calibers such as 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, 9x39 etc.
9x39 would be an interesting 1-2? ish caliber. I’ve seen it used on groundhogs, not bad if I’m being honest.
Very expensive lol
They are all very unique cartridges not in game. All of them are in very different platforms.
I'm sry but it does bug me we have a Russian themed weapon pk & 2 have US calibers & not Russian calibers. I'm very hesitant to buy this bc of it. I want to buy it & like it but idk if I will bc they're not Russian Calibers. Its unfortunate that EW yet again missed an opportunity due to oversight 😮💨
It’s ok but I was hoping for more new calibers
I really wish EW would reach out more for us to respond when their developing weapon packs. Our feedback would be useful to them during their development. I dont like giving negative responses after the dmg is done. I'd rather guide the process prior to assist them to success. In this case I welcome the pack but feedback would've gone a long way to make it more appealing. Their selling point of low recoil & fast follow ups isn't enough to justify it when its 2 US calibers we already have 2 operating actions for. If they were all Russian Calibers with various applications, it gives incentive to buy it. I'm also tired of putting a star on 1 weapon to justify buying a 3 weapon pk dlc esp. in this case the 7.62x39 is what ppl want from it its the star weapon & caliber while the other 2 are fillers.
So EW I am most likely going to purchase this pack for a few personal points. However in the future you might not get a purchase from me if this continues.
If they put up a poll saying hay would you want more semi autos for these calipers, that would have been really nice
I would be fine with hey this is the new pk & use the poll to determine a caliber for each. Personally, I'd love to have polls like the hunter's choice polls for every future weapon pk ideally.
Problem is, the only good gun out of the Community Choice pack was the .375. People (gamers and developers alike) weren't knowledgeable on the .300 Blackout and .450 Bushmaster, their capabilities, and the most popular rifle actions for them. It gave us two guns that people hardly like in-game, let alone use.
The .450 is fantastic despite being given terrible options.
i love the 450BM its exactly how I expected it to be. The 300blk was the only true upset & the 375 H&H is overpowered by miles.
I'm not sure I've even used it yet. The Fors Elite is kinda fun for smaller animals in the Outback of EC and on Te Awaroa, but that's as far as I've been willing to use it.
Overpowered or not, the .375 sure is fun...🤣
I hadn’t even heard of 400 legend outside of the legal IL calibers page!
I agree & disagree bc it overpowers the 470 NE by a huge margin & that is very wrong. The 470NE should be a 7-9 and optic capability. Range differences I'm fine with given the platform & calibers. But theirs no reason for 470 NE to poke moose while the 375 destroys them.
I wouldn't say it overpowers it, the penetration is still very much in favor of the .470 Nitro. It's just not a long range gun, and that's where the .375 shines.
try it sometime 375 H&H passes through 470 NE doesn't within 50yds with 1st tier ammo. The 375 is too overpowered not to mention 375 is 7-9 when 470 NE is 9 and theres an issue with the balances here. 470 NE Federal 400gr is rated for 1500lb-DG even Hornady 500gr is 1500lb- DG & is used on moose & often bear outside of safari game. If we get technical 375 H&H is 300lb-DG. Though I wont disagree the 375 H&H shines with range over the 470 NE I'll never debate that fact.
So a 500 NE is fine but a .30-06 isn't?
@cobalt trail Wait I missed this.......am I reading this right??? 500NE on deer!?! You cant be serious
Does that mean these are huntable in IL?
Jokes aside, this is the BLR and it's currently available calibers
yea 350 & 400 Legend were both in the polls
Only if it’s in a single shot rifle! (recent change) As if that changes “what that bullet could hit”
Five round capacity on the new .30-06. 🥱
So no different than the M1? This pack was a huge waste of the devs time and effort, the guns look amazing but they're just reskins with barely any tweaks
Maybe they only shot 5 round to throw us off maybe it 6 round but your probably right but I like’em it just sucks that there reskinned guns
It sucks, yeah, but I'll still rotate it with the M1 on my Yukon/Medved loadout. M1 Yukon, the new one Medved.
I’m putting the Perry in my Yukon/medved loadout
Because AK
I could see it. I've used the Zarza on both maps a lot, but have come to favor the .30-06 semi auto for Caribou/Reindeer and wolves. Always carry the 10mm Davani for protection.
The 7.62×39 may replace the Zarza and Zagan in my Mississippi loadout, but we'll see how it performs first. I wouldn't mind going down from four to three guns for that map. The other two being the Arzyna for bear and gators and the 16 gauge pump for small game.
I could also see the ×39 getting a lot of action on Sundarpatan and Cuatro, maybe EC too.
I'm hoping the update changes the Fors Elite to a 2-5 or 2-6 caliber and the .30-30 to a 3-7 otherwise it just buries the base game gun a little deeper for no reason. Tbh I can't even see a reason to buy the new pack, I'd be paying 4$ or something for one new gun I'd use
I'm not sure they'll change the .30-30's class range with this update, but they definitely should change the Fors Elite.
If it keeps up like this then I doubt I'll buy any more dlcs
Im looking forward to the sks. I think they shouldve added a dragunov or svt-40 in 7.62x54r instead of rhe 30-06 since we already have the garand.
True but there is a lot of irl guns in 30-06 and 308 but yeah some new calibers would be nice but a a tigr aka civilian dragunov would be nice
I think svt-40 would be better suited for the game perhaps since it would be easier to get irl and dragunovs are about $3k up 😂
New 2-6 is awesome, actual competition for the .243 because the .300blk failed at that, but the other two are semi-auto guns for calibers we already have semi-autos of. Sorta boring :/
It’s competing with the 243/30-30 the 300blk is not a fail it’s a odd ball but it’s a good rifle for class 3-6 it’s done a fair job for its classes
It's a good rifle for sure yeah, but not covering class 2 means it doesn't compete with the .243 imo
Yeah it’s in comp with the mosin
But the new sks is was I was talking about it’s probably going to over shadow the 243
Same class coverage but semi-auto, so yeah
I'll keep saying it. 300blk better get reclassed to match the 7.62x39. Both are 2-6 (bc of wolves at C:6) equal in range, use, & stopping power on game. Both of them are rated for <50lb-300lb game authentically. Only difference is 7.62x39 is the Russian variant for the AK-47 & the 7.62x35 is the US variant for the Honey Badger AR variant. Ballistically they are damn near identical.
243 will still likely be no. 1 in 2-6 given its flat 6mm caliber over the heavy hitter 30cal between both the 300blk & 7.62x39. But we will see if EW nerfs it like they did with 7.62x35 that should hit hard within 150yds. Sry but 50yds on a lynx with SP's shouldn't be flesh hits in the pocket, it should drop them just as easily as PT's do.
the sks is the only one im willing to buy the pack for and its mostly for being in 7.62x39. Id rather see a ruger m77mkii all weather or a howa mini action but it will suffice. The other two are at least sporter ak platforms which I dont mind but right now the 308 and 30-06 are basically identical in performance, I tested the two on the same animals at the same distance many times and cant see any difference. If 308 gets a slight nerf and gets made a 3-7/8 (along side the 270 and 6.5 too hopefully) it would make more sense but the m1 also exists. Again at least the ak platforms are the sporter models, but Id rather see a remington 740 series or browning bar mkii before an ak platform.
I hope 308 doesn't get nerfed if anything both 308 & 30.06 should be expanded 2-8 (110gr up to 220gr officialy range from <50lb-DG from Hornady & Nosler) w/ 30-30 a 3-8. But I do agree a Howa Mini-Action with a heavy barrel would've been sweet I owned 2 1500 Axioms myself. The sks is a welcomed addition for the surplus collection. But I strongly am against a Russian themed pack having 2 US calibers when they could've easily stayed to their origin with 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, 9x39, etc.
AR style 308 has one problem for me. When you first take out the rifle it pull the shutter. Sometimes those couple of seconds are worth a good shot. M1 compare to modern rifles feels like something in jelly. (Something like that). I will buy dlc of course but will feel like I paid money for the same thing.
Need more maps
I dont like the audio or the feel of the 308 AR at all so on the upside to this pack the new one hopefully will have more bark & feels better. I'll see it in the preview on the news channel & prey its not a clone. Aside from it being the only thumbhole I'm trying really hard to be positive even though I'm really disappointed they're not all Russian Calibers. The 30.06 I'm likely going to use it a few times if that bc I love the M1 too much to care for the new 1.
Again I love the new pack, I really do. The models look fantastic, the animations thus far are looking promising, but...my only issue is the 308 & 30.06 calibers in a Russian themed weapon pack. & I hope EW gets the feedback bc I really dont want to see a repeat of this. If you're going to replicate a countries weapons pls apply the proper calibers from that country thats all I ask. Give them the respect they deserve.
The game doesn't sell in Russia. The devs could have been scared by the hype..... from players of Russia. Devs love mother Russia and etc. Maybe. I saw it in comments in YouTube. 😎 Maybe that's why they decided 50/50.
Another weapon pack instead of a new lodge is dissapointing. We have all the calibers allready, this dlc wont enhance gameplay by any means. The only new thing with the patch seems to be tahr on te but i personally dont really care about that. This looks so effortless and seems just a quick cash grab instead of a real game improvement. Lets hope they at least fixed the bugs they introduced with the last patch. And i am also curious what new bugs this patch brings, because looking back it seems that the only new thing they bring in with patches are bugs.
When we have so many weapon packs that all overlap eachother in terms of the classes they can take down additions like these feel a bit pointless.
I don't really care about more guns. My only interest in this one is the 2-6 gun. And still I'm not jumping on this. I haven't gotten the last pack yet and I'll likely hold off on this one too. I know I'll get it at some point. My biggest interest is the animals and maps. Maybe some more gear or mechanics.
Perry .308 is a five round capacity too. 🥱🥱 The SKS is our only hope.
I wonder if they will give the garand an 8 rnd capacity. And increase the 30-30 and 45-70 leverguns too. And let us load all 6 in the 45colt. 😂
All we got is the 10mm and the .22 pistol and rifle (not ar) for capacity
Same as the last pack. 2 good guns with one being a little lackluster.
I think this was another wasted development time that could've gone into a lodge dlc
Maybe devs wan't give us 7.62x54 with SKS or Ak because it will give for the Solokhin a polymer tip? With polymer tip a Solokhin will be imba.
What?
Solokhin has only soft point. 7.62x54. If the dlc will give Russian standard bullet it give us 7.62х54 polymer tip. 3-7 class with 7.62x54 is imba.
Im confused about what imba is.
Imba = (imbalanced)
Unfortunately the dlc does not add a 7.62x54r
Imba in context - the best of the best for 3 class.
Thank you.
Np. He's saying that EW probably didn't add a 7.62x54R SA bc it would give the M44 Polymer tips over the Soft Points & that it would be imbalanced as a 3-7. If I'm reading that right.
I know but I say so about superior. My problem
That makes more sense
Your fine I was trying to translate for @mint vault
Maybe that's why it doesn't
Since the 7.62x39 is 2-6 so does the 7.62x35. Thats the only way I'll buy this pack is if the Fors Elite is properly reclassed just as the Gandhare was a 4-8 & reclassed to a 4-9. I upvoted the thread wanting these types of rifles, but I didn't agree to a 308 or 30.06. I upvoted for a 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, & possibly a 9x39. But what's done is done, however. I refuse to accept 7.62x39 as a 2-6 while the 7.62x35 is a 3-6 when they are nearly identical in every way. If EW reclasses the Fors Elite as a 2-6 I'll buy the pack.
With 7.62x54R we will can drop on the spot all 3 class animals. Now it impossible.
I dont really have any issues with the 7.62x54R except on C:7 game from time to time. However I do struggle with C:3 with the Fors Elite with Soft Points. Polymer Tips drop them pretty quick. Tested it today on EC from goats to Sambar just to see how it would go & I again can confirm 7.62x35 soft points are a waste & useless on any game. So stick to polymers if you use the Fors Elite & dont attempt anything past 200yds it loses knockdown power by alot past 200yds.
I don't use a soft point bullet because is a lottery in the game. 7.62x35 polimer is good for double lung shot (3:c) but it worked if shot in edge of lung. That's why I want 7.62x54R. Maybe 7.62x39 will give it. I don't know.
The new pack has a Finnish developed gun, hell yeah best pack 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 ✅ ✅ 💪 💪 💪
Sambar can be easily killed even with a slingshot.
So does EC, you’ve got a full loadout now
Will there be new projectiles for the .308 and .30-06?
Probably not, wasted dev time this go round
If the update changes the .30-30 to 3-7, the 7.62x35 to a 2-5, and updates the magazine count for the M1, the .22 AR. And fixes at least a few bugs without adding a dozen more then I'll stop calling it a waste of time
Though I'd prefer 30-30 be a 3-8 to match with 44mag given its history & ammo availability not to mention its use for bears. Fors Elite (7.62x35 aka 300blk) matches 7.62x39 as 2-6 as it should've been day 1. Not sure about your POV on the AR 22LR though? The M1 I can understand given its authentic capacity.
Yeah, I'm well aware it's a bear killer. I've downed 9 bears with mine, aside from 4 elk and idk how many deer and feral pigs. But 3-7 seems like the most reasonable change for EW. If they made it 3-8 I'd expect a new rifle and poly tips for the ammo but I'd be more than happy to pay for that
I'm still curious though whats your point with the AR 22LR? I think its fine as is except my only gripe is 22LR should be 1-2 & 22H 1-3.
.22 AR has a 5 round magazine and the other two .22s (pistol and rifle) have 10 round magazines. Range classes and power all the same they just made it have half the the capacity of the other two semi-auto. 22s
It's more an ocd issue than a game issue
valid point I guess I never noticed since I only used the AR. The pistol I think I used 1 time & I never did use the Ruger come to think of it bc I always used the Drilling overall for rabbits & 22H.
It's more, severely annoying than anything. It has the same stats as the virant/ruger .22 but 5 rounds less for absolutely no discernable reason
22LR was the only good weapon in the Modern Weapon pack. I hated the 223 & 308 in the pack for several reasons. The new pack as a positive point actually has the bark I'd expect & it's a thumbhole although Range better be affected given barrel length as a medium range over 328yd zero. But I'm standing my ground on not buying the pack till the Fors Elite matches the 7.62x39 as a 2-6 minimum. Idc about the 30.06 bc its not worth it when I have the M1. I really hate these knock offs being clones & not origin calibers.
Defn. should've been 7.62x39, 7.62x54R, & 9x39. Thats why I upvoted this feedback thread https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1193395270067691540 not for a 308 or 30.06. Thats also why I down voted it as well bc I didn't want to see it botched with non origin calibers.
Unfortunately whats done is done. They look & sound good thus far. Animations are also done well thus far we'll see about the SKS when its posted. But my stipulation to EW is to correct the Fors Elite as a 2-6 just as they have with the Gandhare that was a 4-8 & reclassed to 4-9. This is very important to me bc I do hunt Bobcat, Coyotes, Fox, & Lynx extremely often in CotW & robbing me of my preferred caliber IRL for them really hurt esp. when 7.62x35 & 7.62x39 are both authentically rated for <50lb-300lb game. I might be a minority hunting predator & furbearer game outside of the community seeking Diamonds & G1's because I really dont care. Thats what I like to hunt & the reason I wanted the 300blkout. 450BM is my 2nd fav. for med-large game like deer & Elk. 375 H&H is my choice on Yukon for Grizzly, Caribou, & Moose. Please EW fix the Fors Elite.
I’m so glad they’re adding the sks (7.62x39) I hunt with it irl and I really like the rifle
I do as well & their a blast to shoot as long as its a Russian make. Never & I mean never buy a Chinese SKS you will regret it.
Yea I know, mine has the ak mag on it
My sks has a 30rnd but not ak mag. Its for sks only
I love the pack I really do but I want the 7.62x35 a 2-6 where it belongs. I cant justify buying the pack until EW reclasses the Fors Elite esp. after seeing the 7.62x39 as a 2-6. Aside from the other 2 that are US caliber clones, but I can meet halfway if they correct their mistake with the 7.62x35.
What should it be at?
I forgot it isn’t Ak it’s the one with that lip thing, the duckbill or somethin like that
Pretty much. I got a 5 and 10rnd i have but i keep the 30 on there just cuz im too lazy to go thru the trouble of taking it off 😂
2-5 with wolves reclassed to C:5 technically. Both the 7.62x35 & 7.62x39 are authentically rated for <50lb-300lb game. Both calibers are pretty much identical ballistically & are used for the same game in the field. Varmints & pigs & in some cases Mule & whitetail deer. Only reason its C:6 is bc wolves are C:6 & for no other reason. If you question my reasoning feel free to see for yourself on Hornady's ammunition page & compare 300 Blackout & 7.62x39. This is why I'm upset bc I use this IRL & they made 7.62x35 a 3-6 excluding C:2 game being ethical that includes Coyote & Bobcats that are C:2. Although arguably Coyotes should be C:3 with a rework and scaled up in size. As Coyotes are now they look like they have mange & sick not to mention are authentically bigger in height length & size than red fox. The model currently is the same size as a red fox & they defn. are not. 20-30lb difference easily. Red fox 12-20lbs coyote 25-70lbs its a huge difference. Though I've heard Red fox can get close to 30lbs in Europe, its worth the mention. Grey fox should be C:1 bc they dont get bigger than maybe 12lbs max avg 8-10lbs give or take.
Again, most ppl hunt Med-DG game & waterfowl within the community. I'm a small minority that hunts predators, furbearers, & upland birds. I also hunt deer & elk often both IRL & in-game although I haven't hunted in 7yrs IRL bc of my children's needs. So, CotW is my fix until a better title comes along thats more authentic & realistic.
Bottomline as much as I want the pack, I'm refusing to buy it till the Fors Elite matches the SKS as a 2-6 as it should be. To put it into perspective this would also mean players would have [4] 2-6 calibers: .243, 30-30, 7.62x35, & 7.62x39. Though I firmly believe 30-30 should be 3-8 bc its applications and history dating bk in the 1800's to current day for large game such as bear, elk, & even bison.
I’ll still probably buy it, I don’t hunt anything smaller than deer unless it’s for a random small place, coyotes need to look better and be a little bigger than the foxes, the piebald looks horrible, like a dog yk,
I defn. know it hurts to look at them as they are & I want to put them down to end their suffering. Like I said I want the pack but I cant overlook the 7.62x39 as a 2-6 to make up for the 7.62x35 being 3-6 on release with a C1-2 reserve. They always have released packs that can be used on every release. Winter release was a good idea but really botched it hard. 1st SP is a waterfowl dedicated reserve with a pointer (upland bird dog), 10ga on a C:1-2 reserve & reclassing birdshot from 1 to 1-2 to justify when a 410 or 28ga would've been appropriate. & the release of a class 2 Fox G1 while also releasing a voted wpn pack & denying the packs use on a new reserve by classing the Fors Elite a 3-6 instead of 2-6 where players could use it in a premiere release. Thats really hard to accept given EW's history for immersive gameplay year after year minus the bugs. It was really poor decorum & taste on their part. If they thought it through better it would've been a successful release.
Yea
I can forgive EW if they reclass the Elite & move fwd. But I hope EW reviews & really looks over future content to avoid overlooking details that impact players negatively. The new pack is good but it's not great either. However, is manageable. Again, another example of oversight & not well planned out overlooking details.
Don't like it, good guns, but not me or my friends want any more guns, maps, animals or SKINS... We want N E W content, something new, anything, cause the game feels just too flat, boring. We can't play more than an hour, in Classic theres a least many small things that make the game more enjoyable...
I wouldn’t mind seeing the .30-30 being a 3-8, but in my opinion it’s just wayyyy too weak for an elk in game. Irl you could take an elk with a well placed heart or neck shot and it’ll die very quickly, but with the old, outdated and frankly western looking in game .30-30 rounds, it could work as a class 7 round at best. If they bring .30-30 polymer tip rounds I could see it being a class 2-7 round.
Personal experience is that an elk hit with a lung shot will run about a hundred yards. Used leverevolution ammo. You might not have noticed, but elk are now class 7 too
Also, yes, it needs new ammo. They used disgustingly weak ammo for a baseline, probably the tiny 125gr recoil controlled ammo that WotH based there's on too. Modern ammo is miles better
I genuinely forgot that elk were class 7 nowadays, as I rarely hunt them in game anymore, and seeing as I’ve never shot an elk with a .30-30 irl idk how well it does on them. I’ve shot Mulies with them and they’ve ran forever on double lung.
Depends on how you hit and what bullet it is. Soft points are good for penetration but a heavy hollow point is better for quick kills. I've been using some 190gr hollows for a few year ls now and I don't have to track too far anymore
Personally I’ll always prefer the .300 PRC for Elk but I may have to try out my .30-30 for Mulies with some 190gr hollows this season. May have to retire my 6.5 as my Mulie rifle.
I have a .300 WM I use for elk most of the time, but if I'm in heavy timber I always go with the .30-30. I'm used to it and it puts meat on the table so it's my go to
I will say, there is absolutely no better brush gun than a .30-30. It’s a beast at close range on pretty much anything I’ve shot. Black Bears, Mulies, Wolves, and Coyotes.
True. Oh, Buffalo Bore is the place I get my 190gr. Ammo from. If you aren't after elk it's cheaper and just as effective to get some 170gr Nosler Partition bullets. Punches through a mulie bucks shoulders like paper for me
M1 is my favorite weapon right now, but will be replaced by the hansson or whatever it’s called
I’ll keep that in mind, may go and get some for Mulie season assuming I actually get drawn.
What kinda .30-30 do you have?
I have 2, ones a Henry Golden Boy and the other is a Savage 340.
I have a Marlin 336 I've had for so long I don't remember when I got it and an R95 I just got a month or two ago
Those are nice. I’ve had the golden boy since I was about 14 because y grandfather gave it to me, and that savage was my dads but he gave it to me when I started hunting Mulies because he didn’t need it anymore. Both are really good rifles but I much prefer the savage because the golden boy has some cycling issues due to age.
Bet it could be fixed pretty easy. Lever guns are simple but solid
It probably is easy to fix but I’m kinda just keeping it as an heirloom of sorts, not meant to be shot often. I don’t use it to hunt because I don’t want to beat it up.
