🇦🇪 ORYX, GAZELLES, AND BIRDS - Al Barari Coastal Reserve, United Arab Emirates

Welcome to the United Arab Emirates! Here on our sandy coast we have many opportunities to hunt species found nowhere else on earth! On top of this, we have some of the best bird hunting in Asia, and some species you wouldn’t expect to find here.

This reserve includes 2 portions: a native game portion (NGP) and an introduced game portion (IGP). Species will be listed separately from if they are introduced or native, with exceptions for Feral Species.

There are some truly crazy species that have been introduced here for the purposes of hunting, and the reserve is split down the middle by a channel of water.

Yes, all returning species are introduced. They have been introduced to an island off the coast and while you cannot hunt there irl, I think it would make for a cool concept.

I think having gemsbok and oryx in one map would feel a little cluttered but, if applied well it could work well.

My idea is a split map, with one side being a wild area with (mostly) native species and the other being a ranch style island with only introduced animals. It would be split by a channel. The Oryx and Gemsbok wouldn’t be in the same areas. Then again, I see your point as to how it could be cluttered.

I see your basing the island part on Ṣīr Banī Yās Island, I was tempted to do that for my UAE Reserve but then I decided to make it a more compact reserve on the mainland

I recall the island also having a small population of both cheetah and striped hyena (The hyenas also occur on the mainland)

I did indeed. I know it’s more of a safari park than anything, but seeing as all those animals have survived incredibly well in a desert environment, I could imagine them being imported for hunting purposes as well. The UAE is one of those countries that is super interesting in terms of its hunting, and I think it would be the perfect candidate for an Arabian Peninsula reserve (other than maybe Oman).

I was tempted to put Cheetahs on there but I feel they’d be better for an Africa 2.0 or maybe an Iranian map, but I completely forgot about Stripes Hyenas. I knew they were in the Arabian Peninsula, I just straight up forgot to add them.
