Back in the golden era of the American west there are records of groups of cowboys who hunted grizzly bears by roping them(like a bull)

It’s happening, these are dire wolves

To be more specific, dire wolf and grey wolf hybrids. But they’re have a lot of dire wolf genetics in them. For being 6 months old, they’re bigger by like 60% or something than grey wolves are at 6 months

# cerulean pier So dire wolves are back. Colossal Biosciences just announced it

What exactly was the reasoning for bringing back Dire Wolves or at least some form/variant of it? I don't really see how bringing back species that have been extinct for 10,000 and 4,000 years I just don't really see it but I'm always interested in learning and I guess it does show huge technological and scientific potential

No, the Dire Wolf has not been brought back from extinction. They are actually Grey Wolf with genetic edits intended to make them resemble to the lost species.

Like does it enhance their size what’s it do

I remind you that this subspecies, the Pyrenean ibex (Capra pyrenaica pyrenaica), was technically “brought back” after extinction, although only for a few minutes due to a lung malformation. This marked the first successful attempt. It was achieved through cloning from preserved cells.
