I was running around in Hirschfelden completing 2 different quests; first of which required me to down a deer AT NIGHT. I shot a roe deer and completed said quest receiving the according rewards and the next mission of the questline. Went to ernsdorf cave after the fact to complete Bhandari # 10. Followed the trail to the bison, shot it with .454 pistol and harvested it. The tracks had taken me way outside of the map-marked cave area but I had done as the quest told, but still have Bhandari 10 incomplete and no trail of blood to follow at the cave entrance. The middle of hunting pressure marks the point where the tracks led.
