#South African Boerboel (Guard Dog)

This is a new thread created from the previous Pit Bull concept. The function is very similar, but with some help from other commenters, I have altered the species to a larger and more capable hunting breed. The Boerboel is a large and heavy set dog breed that can often reach weights of close to 200 pounds. This allows it to hold its ground against many hostile creatures you might encounter when hunting. Its African origins will make it a great fit for Vurhonga, but at the same time, the fur that cools it down can insulate it just as well. This makes the Boerboel a great fit for all maps.

As you level up the perks of your new pooch, it will be able to defend you from increasingly larger creatures, e.g. Capercaillie, Wolf, Buffalo, etc. This list may even range up to including large felines and crocodilians. The protective feature could entirely eliminate the constant risk of hyper aggressive buffalo or wolf packs. Of course, you will be able to toggle the aggression of your dog when actively hunting.

That’s already in another thread. I would have used it but I decided to respect the existing claim. I used the Boerboel because it’s heavier and less commonly in a pack. Here is the other thread if you haven’t seen it.

I wouldn’t mind seeing something like this. Perhaps instead of simply having different coat colors, there were also other dog breeds. I’d like to see English, Neapolitan, and Cane Corso Mastiffs alongside Boerboels, although idk if it would fit well seeing as they’re more show dogs than hunting/guard dogs nowadays unlike the Boerboel.

Admittedly I would too, but there is something appealing about the ugliness of the Boerboel 😂. I picked it for its heavier nature in comparison to most dogs, but the English Mastiff can probably match it. The biggest reason though was that the Boerboel is much smarter, and was bred to be a fiercely loyal guard dog that will sacrifice itself for its owner. They are such good guard dogs that they were used to protect the South African diamond mines. Overall I thought they were the most loyal, largest, and smartest option from the long species list.

Once again not really commenting on the breed itself since idk dogs but them having a perk to make animals warning call early or something I think would fit and also be handy. Animals making more noise to try and locate them but with more chances before they straight up spook.

It’d give it a bit more utility but without too much over lap with the other dogs. It’s locating animals but not in the same way as pointers
