Often Called a Small Game Hunter’s Paradise New Jersey has over 15 species of ducks (one of which I would really really love to see in The Hunter COTW) the Wood duck it’s spectacular plumage coloration would make it a trophy worthy duck that I’d love to see mounted in my game, we have White Tailed Deer, Black Bear (Outlawed in 2021 but reinstated 2024 with further information tba), both Gray and Red fox, Rabbits, Hares and Jackrabbits, Coyotes, Feral Hogs, Common Raccoons. Along with our ducks we have Brant, Coots, Snipes, Scaup, Mergansers, Geese, non-waterfowl like the Woodcocks, Rails, Crows (while protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, New Jersey has a season for legally hunting Crows), Quail, Pheasants, and Turkey. we could use New Jersey as a way to add Squirrels (Gray, Red, Northern & Southern Flying), Beaver, Muskrats, Ground Hogs, Ermines, and Opossums, as new small game. It would be great for those who love small game hunting like myself, with a few bigger guys for everyone to enjoy. It would be pretty awesome if they added Traps too for small game.
