I think adding more diversity to the game with how the animals act would really improve the gameplay. These are just a few main examples and I’ll add onto this later with certain species.
Predators to Prey
Prey animals will get nervous when predators are nearby and may shuffle away but not flee completely unless necessary.
-# Example: Grizzly Bears drink at the same zone as Caribou, to where the ungulates have 0 prey instinct and are fine with a bear posing as a herd member/drinking alongside them. This should be changed to where the caribou get nervous around the bears and move away from them.
Mating
Okay weirdos, no I’m not asking for a detailed mating animation, but to have similar behaviour between males and females would be cool.
-# Example: Bucks tend to chase and sniff does during mating season.
-# Example 2: To be able to see things such as rubbing heads together affectionately and licking faces/grooming fur would be sweet.
The Rut
Branching off from mating, to have realistic rutting between males with antlers and horns would be awesome.
-# Example: All males tend to square each other up (circling, huffing, roaring, etc) before locking antlers or butting heads.
-# Example 2: Deer and moose tend to lock antlers and shove each other around. The winning male is usually the larger one, so to see a level 4 moose win against a level 2 would add to the realism. Same goes for deer.
-# Example 3: Goats and sheep such as bighorns tend to rear up and smash their horns together.
-# Example 4: Bison tend to but heads and lock horns.
Realistic Herds, Packs and Flocks
Lots of animal groups tend to have one dominant male and/or one leading female.
-# Example: Elk herds have a breeding male in the fall alongside younger males. Though, the herd is led by the eldest female.
