So we just recently got the pointer I can say as most is amazing but there is a few of us that would like the ability to bay predators with a dog or boar well I think that might work the ridge back is a dog that is brave and fearless original breed for hunting Africa lion and still dose bays lions in some places in Africa but mostly a hog/boar dog or used for mountain lion or bear hunting and just like that pointer will track down dangerous animals like lynx,boar,black/brown bear and will hold them in a place for 10-15 in game minutes then that animal will flee and the dog can tied out after two attempts and will not bay for 40 in game minutes. ……..that can be overcome by a perk called “pack”and where hunters can link dogs together where it’s a bloodhound and a pointer or retriever and pointer etc etc but a pack of 8 dog with find, track or retriever killed or wounded game like a bloodhound retriever pack the bloodhound will still howl if it’s a large or medium sized animal but is its a rabbit or a bird the bloodhound will tell the retriever where more then one is at once redeployed to find more small animals that where killed or downed and will mark on the hunter mate where each animal is or with a pack of baying dogs can tell where animal is like a boar or bear etc is but the dogs don’t kill the animal that only hold it still in a spot the hunter or hunters will have to get that animal downed and in game credit is spit between all hunters that had there dogs in a pack the one that claims ms the kill can tax it or just harvest and take the credits But that is just a suggestion thoughts on this are welcome. And yes I know the pointer can point to boar

As the guy who made the pit bull thread, I would like to say that there are a lot of people on this server who don’t like the idea of hunting dogs. Also, while I would love to see dog combos, the odds that feature will be added is pretty low.
True but never hurt to make a wish or put out a suggestion but I think the difference that people think is a lot don’t agree with using pits or other dog that aren’t breed for hunting because used for hunting but I never seen a problem with it
This is Bernie Sanders, and I'm once again asking for bear hounds.

I do like the ridgeback as a breed that could be added ....
But I Don't think dog packs for a single hunter will happen.
perhaps make it a feature with Multiplayer that dogs with certain skills could be combined together as a pack ..... such as a pack (more than 1) chase dogs ...
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1071107633571963031
For example with a chase dog or dogs they could chase prey in a certain pattern for a given amount of time in which the hunter or hunters would have the opportunity to shoot the target animal before the timer runs out .... This could work for bears, hogs, foxes, rabbits and others ....
For more details see here: https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1070641304255598602
Once the chase begins the dogs never actually catch up with the target animal but the target animal runs in a predetermined pattern or course around the hunter (say in a 100 to 150m radius ) .... and the hunter must shoot the target on the run while it's being chased )
The Hunter / Hunters can terminate the chase at any time by calling the dogs off. .... or let the timer expire without killing the animal..... This basically simulates the target animal was successful in evading the chase.
Also as an added challenge the target animal could be given a random chance of evading the chase dog(s) and ending the chase before the timer runs out ... This random chance would increase depending on the level of the animal ... Higher level targets would have greater chance of evading the dogs so the hunter(s) will have to be quick and accurate to shoot the animal early in the chase ....
As an option perhaps consider increasing the payout for animals killed earlier in the chase ...
I get what your saying but these are BAYING dog not chase dogs the reason I went with baying dogs is most new players can’t hit moving targets from the get go and most players that are experienced still have trouble with moving targets it’s a good idea but not for these dogs
The term baying means to chase an then circle the target animal keeping it at bay .... This would absolutely require a pack of dogs and I'm not sure how fun this would be in a game context .... Sure it works IRL but in a game I'm struggling to see how the mechanics could work and how fun it might be
No bay means to with hold a person or animal in one spot but we’ve done this with pointers and spot point the same animal and it breaks the path finding or arrogates the animals like moose and then bang splat done it’s fun
I've only used pointers on upland birds .... Are you saying that it currently works the same on med and large animals like moose ? so when a pointer spot points a moose it will hold in place (bay ) ..... So a traveling/nervous or fleeing animal will hold in place so you can shoot it stationary?
If that's the way pointing currently works for med and large animals then that's awesome!!
If that's the way it's working currently then EW could just add a Ridgeback to the game with the ability to point and you will have a baying hound correct?
It doesn’t it makes them flee but more then one dog will break the path finding so no it doesn’t work like that it will cause them to flee

I love it, but it seems very similar to the pointerdog’s playstyle yk
just wanna see a dog for boars
The pointer already does that
ye but to attack it
So like it can kill it too or? It’d be cool to have a dog to chase down such animals and predators too if you miss a shot or spook it
hopefully
Now that sounds like a new playstyle, im for this
would kill wolves and coyotes
and others in that spectrum then? Boars, like dangerous game yk
tigers lions bears
Doesn’t sound very realistic unless you have like 10 dogs or smthn
yea you get packs of them
That’d be interesting, seems like a big ask though, but for smaller animals to like class 6 i can see happening
could work on on small animals by treeing them
Animal treeing i also see possible for the upcoming dog, can work for a lo of species in-game. Possibly even for grouse too
just gotta get more
Squirrels i believe would come with that update, maybe to the upcoming reserve or just as a backfill to like Layton
