First rule: This is just a thread for folks to share ideas, don't be petty idiots and start stupid fights over an opinion. This isn't Twitter.

Basically, the Angler ending development has a ton of us curious about the company's next move and most indications have been about a new game that allows hunting and fishing both. I'm fine with this but there will be some things I'm expecting.

First is, I don't want to see 'balanced for gameplay' over the weapons. The class system in cotw is restrict and annoying enough we don't need it to be repeated. The Classic system works just fine and they should mirror it. No micro dlc mess, no micro transactions, just rifles bought with in game money.

The weapon type XP and level locked calls and scents are just pointless too. All.it serves to don't restrict gameplay and it makes enjoying the game difficult for people who lost their accounts (5 times for me now)

Settings for all the sounds in the game, we need these. It's not even a discussion, we need to be able to mute flock sounds, control the headache inducing atv noise, and boost the gunshots to sound a little more crisp

Weapon customization. It should absolutely include at least 3 different calibers for a rifle, and the option to buy multiple of that rifle if we like.

Third person perspective and camouflage that actually works. Even the VERY old Cabela's games had a third person perspective. Camouflage should actually work and effect your hunt, the current system has backpacks that make you louder and more visible but only add a few pounds and there's no way to counter it. Something needs to make you quieter and less visible to make them viable.

Emerald Coast, a better Vurhonga Savanna, and a more wintery Yukon need to be part of the first lineup of maps at release. This is purely personal bias but I stand by it, these are the best maps in the game.

I'd like to see the Jeep from the Angler and the Olsson and Malmer with their current animations return

@civic atlas Love the Suggestions.when it comes to weapon customization i'd like to see Attachments Like bipods, brakes, suppressors

And i'd like more scopes and reticles. From simple crosshairs to tactical "Christmas tree" reticles and scopes in a lot of different Zoom Styles. 1-4x24, 3-12x56, 4-16x50, 5-25x56, etc there are even some 1-10x or 10-50x scopes on the Market.

If the Render distance is large enough i might like to see rangefinder scopes like the Burris Eliminator series

In my opinion: when NFS:UG2 was capable of rather detailed Performance Tuning for their Cars , EW should today be able to deliver good customization options

New Game options.

DLC gear is amazing, especially when you've done your first playthrough and know what you need.

A man menu option to change your inventory would be amazing. It would give you a chance to customize your character and gear from the outset with any dlc you happen to have aside from the base game starting gear.

Boots, pants, gloves, shirts, outerwear, gloves, and hats. Start with your dlc .270 in the fancy stock instead of the plain .243. Put away the roe deer caller since you're starting on Layton. That kind of thing

A Mastery system would be great too. The more familiar you are with a certain rifle or shotgun or something the better you are with it.

Less scope sway, less recoil, slightly faster reload, that sort of thing.

I've been grinding away on Yukon this morning and I've been thinking a lot back to this thread.

  1. I want to see maps of all different sizes. I want to see more Salzwiesen size maps, and I want to see maps double the size of the biggest we already have.

  2. Give us more modes of transportation! Trucks, Jeeps, ATVs, E-bikes, horses, snowmobiles, dog sleds, usable boats/canoes/kayaks - heck, make the float planes we fly in on useable to reach some of the more remote areas (i.e. the back side of Copperbowl Lake).

I'd love to see the addition of traplines, and some fishing that doesn't come at the expense of the hunting.

Give us the ability to actually break out a chair and sit and enjoy the view instead of just squatting and pretending. The ability to make a campfire would be fun, too.

There's so much potential with this game, I'm really excited to see what happens.

It needs to have a hardcore mode.
Woth is a mess with how many different difficulty settings there are, but having a standard and hardcore mode would allow them to appease the people like me who want a sim that is more or less classic 2.0, while not abandoning the more casual player base they built with cotw.

Hear me out. Training Range challenges.

A target range set up for challenges like shooting moving targets, obstructed targets, long distance.

Basically you take a weapon into the challenges and for every challenge you beat you earn something for that weapon, less sway, less recoil, slightly increased reloads. There might be just three challenges per but making it more rewarding to have a favorite rifle or something

What id like to see is something similar to a Classic revamp.

Replace the animal classes, instead have the ethicality be designated by caliber rather than class.

Have more realistic animal behavior with the animals being able to fight for mates (like the Bighorn and Dall Sheep), for food (like the Pumas), and have animals sorta wander between zones rather than simply jump around between them.

Have calling be an actually useful thing

Include different types of shooting ranges like clay, trap, and skeet ranges.

EW, PLEASE.

Go and consult with real hunting guides and recognized authors for what calibers are the most common for each species. There are so many miss classed animals and weapons it's legitimately irritating to people with irl experience.

There are plenty of legitimate sources for the information this game relies on. Try Safari Club International and the NRA. They have plenty of books on the subject if nothing else.

You should also look at minimum caliber laws across the US and Europe. Please EW

Considering we have the framework, I hope we get a lodge with the base game.

Like Layton Lodge but without the restrictions and maybe some benefits, a short rifle or bow range, and a spot to display all your gear and change your loadouts.

Honestly, it would be amazing to place the taxidermy plaques and stands

If we have lodges, why not add an additional extra large range seperate from Maps? As a Sandbox and Training ground

For CotW 2's initial weapons line up I'd love to see 2 different designs for each caliber.

Let's say a rifle that's bolt or lever action having a single shot counterpart using the same ammunition. Different designs would be really welcome too it doesn't all need to be ultra modern.

Let's use a .30-06 for an example here, we need a good fun but solid bolt action like a Remington 700 style, but along with it as another option how about a Ruger no.1 style falling block rifle? They can both benefit from the scopes and better ammo but they offer different play styles.

#

Lever action rifles would be great too. They can share calibers with big single shot handguns

Maybe, this time around. The game actually pauses when you hit the pause button. At the very least let me pause single player!

Found Weapons.

Hear me out, y'all remember Gunter Baden? The poor fella found frozen in Medved? Yeah, Elana mentions he has a rifle but you don't see it during the quest chain.

Lots of other games do this, back in like 2008 Cabela's Alaskan Adventures did it, but I'd love to see this make a bit of a return.

Let's say your mission is to find a hurt/missing hunter who's run into some bad luck. Maybe he's not quite up for another trip out and gives you his rifle as a reward or maybe you find it next to his torn apart backpack in bear country. Either way, you get rewarded for all your running around.

Ideally, there would be absolutely no mention of this in the trailers or YouTube hype videos, it's just something you find out when you do the missions. Grankin's shotgun is a good example of this, if it wasn't shown in the store, so would the rayo or the .303 on te awaroa. I'd love to have found a wood stocked version of the Huntsman .270 in that church in Layton's southwest corner that had claw and tooth marks from a bear attack, maybe it could have been connected to that first hope mission. The torn clothing and wrecked camp is from a hunter injured by a black bear and trying to find help or supplies.

I'm just saying, it doesn't have to be fancy, but it would be cool to see details like that

My wishlist for a COTW 2 is the following:

  1. Different seasons on all on reserves that don’t just change visuals but change animal behavior as well and possibly which animals are available to hunt. While this is certainly a big undertaking, I think I would rather have this with fewer reserves, than tons of reserves without it.

  2. Camouflage that actually works.

  3. Dedicated photography mode that recognizes the animal you are focusing on and grades the photos based on several criteria. If anyone has played Pokémon Snap it has a somewhat decent system for this despite how subjective photography can be.

  4. The ability to place a graded photograph on a plaque in the trophy lodge next to the animal I’ve shot. Graded photography is important. In the same way we love chasing those diamonds and Great Ones, wouldn’t it be great to have the thrill of setting up the perfect shot of your Great One with proper focus, background, and composition?

  5. Improved graphics built from the ground up. More detailed and unique animal animations that convey deeper immersion and life.

  6. The ability to download updates to the game that don’t require re-downloading all 20+ GB of data as if we were re-installing the whole game. I remember this was said to be due to how the game engine is built but it’s certainly frustrating.

  7. With improved graphics and fidelity, possibly a optional mode where you can successfully track an animal without having the aid of floating footprint highlights

  8. Smaller trophy lodges accessible in each reserve without requiring you to load into a separate level. Ideally these trophy lodges would only support trophies available at that specific reserve. Larger off-site lodges would still be available but would love unique trophy lodges in each reserve that you can just run up to and customize.

If I think of more I’ll post them but wanted to revive this thread.
