I think the 300 should not be class 9 for two reasons one the fact there’s a ar that is allowed to kill Cape buffalo and lions or tigers is just whack and what’s even more whack is that in most countries for example hunting water buffalo Cape buffalo and lions is just out right illegal with a 300 I think it should be put down to 6-8 it would still be really good on certain maps and would give the 338 and 375 and even the 470 more use for they are way more appropriate for animals of that size I have a 300 I live in a place where there’s bison and like most people would say around here that 300 is a little light for them
#Hot take on the 300

To be fair, I've dropped a bison in its tracks IRL with a well placed 180 grain .30-06 Remington Core-Lokt. Shot placement is key. But yes there are definitely caliber restrictions in certain countries for certain species of game.
5-8 would be perfect, it's THE mule deer cartridge, and it's only class 9 for bison and any .30 caliber (except the 7.62x35) can bring them down
no the mule deer cartridge is the .270, irl its basically a 30-06, in game it needs a huge buff
Living in Wyoming for 5 years now, the .300 is the king here. People love the .270 but for pronghorn. At least that's how my club is, 45 guys.
And I know the .270 is a .30-06 case necked down for a smaller bullet. It's my wife's deer rifle and I love it in game too, just wish it covered class 3
See here in Alberta the 300 is the deer gun you also can take moose hunting I know more people that hunt whitetail and mule deer here with 300 than 270
Bison should be class 8
This is a really cold take. One that I agree with 5-8 would be preferable
Deer with a .22 is well into the realm of respectful passage in real life. Blasting a soda can sized hole in them...
Depends which .22 you're talking about. .22lr, I don't think so. .22H, maybe, but emphasis on the maybe
Arrows used to be shaped for... and not for X
Idk bows too well
What does this even mean?
Have you ever tried talking like a normal human being…?
Arrows kill by exsanguination, blood loss. Whether your bow is 40 pound draw longbow or a 160 pound crossbow the arrow kills by severing arteries and organ damage (lungs are easily cut) and 98% of the time you will see the deer run off. They don't drop like in game and you almost always have to follow a blood trail.
Bullets kill by hydrostatic shock, in other words they punch into the body cavity and expand, dumping almost all their energy into the organs and causing massive damage with what is pretty much a tidal wave in the organs. You'll see deer drop way more often with rifles than with bows but you still have to follow a blood trail more often than not.
Most states and hunting areas specify a minimum caliber of .240. So .223 is not allowed for deer or other big game but some states permit it for turkey

300wm is a 4-8 as declared it is used often for both whitetail & mule deer. 300wm is C:9 bc of bison & it is more than capable to take other C:9 game. Even so it comes down to regulations & yes strangely enough African PH's allow use of various calibers even though the minimum is 375 H&H. I have plenty of videos that back up my claim. I would have no issue with 300wm being a 4-8 or 4-9 caliber. As for your claim to an Armalite its a modern platform & legal to use. "But not everywhere this is true!" Even so its not relevant on the platform except by perceptive regulation. The cartridge is still capable & is rated to hunt various game.
EW attempts balance and fun gameplay. It is a different world with no rules other than those they set themselves.
While technically @flint merlin was right. We live in modern times where firearms and metal working have sway. Heart shots using what many would consider ancient firearms were as relevant as a strong bow arm and good timing to avoid uneccessary suffering.
You realize that it has nothing to do with metal composition or the type of firearm right? That's true at literally any level aside from small game arrows designed to kill with blunt force trauma( these have been around for as long as the bow as well)
All you said was shot placement is more important than the caliber, true in most cases, but there are times where a certain caliber just isn't suited for a job.
.300 Magnum against cape buffalo is both a ible idea and illegal. Not because it wouldn't work but because it would put the entire hunting party's lives in danger
I fully realize expectation for modern rounds and modern quiver lack motives present throughout time.
The hell this even mean 😭

I think the .300 is fine as a class 9 gun, given that we can also shoot cape buffalo with the 7mm.
But, it definitely needs a nerf and class change. It'd be a solid 5-9 gun and would make the grind that is getting the Canning Magnum a bit more worth it
It performs too similarly to the .338 and .375, something a .300 should not do.
Also removing it's ability to hunt class 9 would probably cause the community to absolutely explode, given the popularity of the .300AR
