Okavango River Reserve

Where deserts turn to dense scrubland and those scrublands turn into the thick swamps and lush forests of the Delta,
WELCOME TO BOTSWANA!
On your trip you’ll find infamous predators with hundreds of stories written about them such as the African leopard and lioness. But we know why you’re here… due to a massive boom in the elephant population accounting for a whopping 30% of the existing elephant population! AFRICAN BUSH ELEPHANT hunting has been legalized. But don’t forget about the many beautiful species of antelope!
Enjoy your trip, Hunter!

Nice species list

#

would Gemsbok also be a returning species? They would fit in well in the desert areas, and I would love to have another map for hunting them.

I think

Southern Eland
Blue Wildebeest
Southern Impala

Representing the more arid species would be fine though. I’d need some of our Africa friends to provide some knowledge on environments since most of mine comes from the Eastern Cape, a completely different country and super different environment.

Anything above 2800+lbs should be C:10 and listed as Safari/ XL Game as its own imo.

Leopards defn. 8 due to danger lvl for sure.

African Wild Dog? Ik ik but they do have robust pops in Botswana.

tropic pond
# radiant belfry A case should be made for giraffe though since they are often shot with a decent...

I'm aware however EW messed up using #'d classes over categories in this case bc if I recall Giraffes are categorized as Safari Plains Game, though I could be wrong. But most ammo manufactures have safari-based ammunition specific for African Game. Unfortunately it was a huge miss on EW's part not applying it to our ammo atleast at this time. They might switch gears in the future, but given the current mechanic & game listed in the #'d classes I would presume this is the action they would take.

Although may I argue with a Black Caiman - Class 6 instead of a Nile crocodile?

#

I feel like Black Caiman, or any Caiman, would complete the trio of Croc Gator and Caiman in game, and the rares (or great one) for a Caiman would be amazing

radiant belfry
#

Caiman are from South America . . .

uneven mirage
#

Are they? I thought they were in the Nile as well TwT this would look so good in game

#

Nile Crocs are the only crocodilian that lives in Botswana as far as I know

uneven mirage
#

Yeah they are, just did a Google search and wow am I geographically ignorant, ignore that whole section lol

Still applies though, even if not on Botswana exactly, I'd like to see Caiman in the game one day, maybe Caiman and Jags in the same map?

so I just did a quick google search to see what other animals could be included on this map. Gemsbok inhabit most of Botswana, it seems. I think they'd be a nice inclusion on this map, they're one of my favorite species on Vurhonga so I think a second map with them would be a major win.

Exactly, the addition of tigers essentially opened the doors for anything

weary trail
#

honestly just give them truRACs too at that point. Gemsbok remodel and TruRACs, on a new map? That would be epic.

south bolt
# weary trail yes, I approve

Vurhonga is the only map with all species needing remodels some more then some other but if jackals look like this it's really needed except the wigeon but that isnt part of Vurhonga to me

yeah the Roosevelt Elk, Blacktail, and Jackrabbit should all be completely reworked. Coyotes could use some touch ups on the model too. Also Whitetail and Moose could use a rework for their antlers (whitetails need more work than moose imo). Black Bears... are fine currently. So yeah pretty much every animal on Layton needs some amount of a rework, except for one.

honestly they might as well rework the Merriams Turkey too. They don't look nearly as good as the other turkey species.

As well as the backstories in the missions and the Xitsonga language place names. All those place it in South Africa. The Tweet is just wrong.

Honestly Vurhonga altogether is just really strange. The species roster doesn’t reflect a certain location, just generally all of southern and Eastern Africa. The location on the in-game map shows it as being in Eastern Zimbabwe or Western Mozambique, despite having the Xitsonga language of South Africa, as well as the plateau which I assume was meant to be a representation of the Drakensburg Mountains, and various other things. Yeah, it’s an older map, and has that weird vagueness that all maps prior to Yukon had, but it’s way worse than somewhere like Medved which is simply a location error (it mentions being in the Yamal Peninsula despite seeming more like Central Russia in both location and species).
