The male Khalij pheasant measures between 63 and 74 cm in length and weighs 1,000 to 1,700 g and the female measures 50 to 60 centimeters and weighs 700 to 800 g. can be found up to 3700 m in Nepal. The nine subspecies of kalij live in an extreme diversity of habitats, at very different altitudes which can vary from sea level up to 3600 meters, in landscapes as different as rainforest and mountain woodlands.
The typical breed of the leucomele pheasant is found at altitudes similar to those of the white-crested kalij, i.e. between 400 and 3500 meters, however its greatest density is between 900 and 2100 meters. It can be found at greater heights in summer, and much lower in winter. At these average altitudes, the dominant vegetation is made up of pine forests below 1800 meters, and oak stands between 1500 and 2700 meters. colors: gray and dark gray (common, these are. patterns but from the link it seems to be this color), sky blue (common), black plumage (fairly common), white and blue (fairly common), brown (female very common), albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare). introduced to Hawaii in 1962 as a game bird, from Hawaii and West Oahu

Just a few things to keep in mind:

You are allowed to hunt Kalihi Wallaby if you get a very specific permit that is rarely granted (irl)

The turkeys of Hawaii are of the Rio Grande variety.

Purebred Polynesian Wild Boar are relatively hard to come by as they have been crossed with Russian Boars for a very long time, which resulted in bigger meaner boars (especially on Kauai and Big Island). They are more colloquially known as Pua’a on the islands. note they are relatively aggressive

Vancouver Bulls are a MASSIVE threat on the Big Island and Kauai, to the point of you could accidentally walk up on a herd in the highland brush and be dealt with by them very easily.

The Indian Peafowl are continuously being debated if they should be hunted or not, they are extremely vocal and brave which is quite unlike their behavior in their natural range.

There is a subspecies of Ring-Necked Pheasant in Hawaii called the Melanistic Mutant Pheasant.

The sheep of Hawaii:
Texas Dall Sheep (in select areas)
Black Hawaiian Sheep (not too common)
Hipa feral sheep x mouflon (very common)
Hawaiian Mouflon (extremely common)
Feral Sheep (common)
Painted Desert Sheep (very rare in select areas)
+European Mouflon is kinda debatable seeing as they have been isolated on the island for so long with other hair species that it’s a crapshoot if they are still considered European Mouflon. there was a legendary ram on the Big Island that ran a herd of nearly 100+ sheep for YEARS, so many hunters tried to get him but no one could manage to find him (he would find you when you weren’t ready). Select few people referred to him as Hipa Kane, but the more seasoned local hunters dubbed him Rufus

Migratory birds (geese, ducks, and the sort) are illegal to hunt throughout Hawaii

nova flare
#

Okay, at the beginning I put the wild sheep but I wasn't sure about it so I removed it

#

and all the species of sheep mentioned plus the subspecies of pheasant that you spoke about can be hunted because there are 2 (3 if you take into account the wild sheep which I did not include).

There was a male Black Bear on the island of Oahu many years ago, he escaped from a private circus/zoo (iirc) his name was Butch, I can find the newspaper articles about him if you wish.

In Hualalai near the Pu’u Wa’awa’a Forest Reserve there have been spottings of a Mountain Lion, and some other reported spottings near Mauna Loa (not to sure where exactly)

I remember a jaguar which burrowed from a circus not far from where my grandparents lived and it wandered peacefully in the French countryside. If I remember correctly it was a female and don't worry she is doing very well. But it was spent in my grandparents' garden while I was eating with my grandmother and my brother. With the drought and wildfires the Axis deer in Hawaii are significantly less substantial than their mainland counterparts, whereas the mouflon/wild sheep have no predators and an abundance of groceries that it’s not uncommon to get rams that go over 150 lbs. (Axis deer in Hawaii roughly reach about 120, but some are larger but many are at about 100.)

nova flare
#

Oh yes. Well I don't really know how to speak in Lbs so I used something to convert it was 68 kilos for the ram and 54.4 kilos for the deer so yes compared to usual (maximum 75 kilos from what I see so 165 lbs if I don't say anything stupid.

green pheasant measures 46 to 79 cm for a weight of 0.8 to 1.1 kg for the rooster and the female measures 46 cm for 700-900 grams. It frequents areas with sparse woodlands, close to crops and pastures where it can take refuge under cover and find places suitable for feeding. Colors black (fairly rare), multi-colored (fairly rare), light blue (common), green (fairly common), dark (fairly rare), albino (very rare, ps the photo may not be an albino after all but I keep it anyway.) Melanic and piebald (very rare).

The Black Francolin measures 33-36 cm long, 50-55 cm wingspan and weighs 485-500 grams for the male and around 425 grams for the females. Meadows and forest edges. It can be easily observed along roadsides, especially in the morning and late afternoon. Black francolins were introduced in 1959 to Hawaii as game birds. variety of habitats: cultivated lowlands with significant bush cover, large areas of meadows with bushes, river deltas and lake shores with shrubs and reed beds. Locally, it can be found on cultivated mountain slopes, up to 2500 meters in India and Nepal. However, it is an occasional spring visitor to higher elevations. Colors orange (fairly common), red (common), yellow (fairly common), light red (common), yellow and black (fairly rare), variety of brown for females (common) and albino, melanistic and piebald For both ( very rare).

It’s okay, I modified it for the turkey. If I have forgotten an animal that can be hunted and that interests you, let me know

nova flare
#

albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare). and all the colors you see are common or fairly common. the origin of the California quail in Hawaii. This medium-sized game bird first arrived in the islands in 1818, as a gift to King Kamehameha I from a visiting ship captain. The California quail adapted to our tropical climate and became a common bird throughout the islands by the end of the 19th century. But since then, predation, hunting and perhaps disease have reduced the quail population to just a few birds on the slopes of Maunakea and Maunaloa on the Big Island.

#

I'm trying to find the number of this species in Hawaii but I can't find it. On the other hand it can also be seen in the meadows and can be seen up to 3300 m altitude in Hawaii

nova flare
#

what do you call this hybrid because all I find is that the wild boar is actually the wild pigs so the same thing but mixed with the Russian wild boar which gives a pig-wild boar hybrid. This is the larger version you're talking about. ?

nova flare
#

I'm starting to have doubts because on one site I saw the blue grouse where I saw all the huntable species in Hawaii but by looking in more detail for size and weight I just realized it that there is not 1 but actually speaks of 2 (4 species from time to time) so I have a question, is there the Blue grouse or not? and if so which one is it?

nova flare

The average adult length of the Sharp-tailed Grouse is 38 to 48 cm and does not differ between the male and the female, a wingspan of 50-61 cm and a weight of 600-950 grams for the male and the female of 600- 815 grams. It occupies a wide variety of habitats which include steppes, shrub steppes, savannahs, green spaces populated with aspens, wooded areas of shrubs or young trees. This habitat changes according to the seasons: in summer, the sharp-tailed grouse tends to frequent open meadows, while in winter it is found in more closed areas, with greater cover, it is found on the Oahu Island and the Big Island. colors: orange (fairly common and yellow (common), purple (fairly common), albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare).

Grouse wise we have one species of grouse (on record) and that is the Chestnut Bellied Sandgrouse. They live on the dry side of the island and make daily journeys from the mountains to the sea to get water. Dipping their chest feathers in the water in order to bring water back for their young to drink.

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

yes I saw that but it seems to me that they are not really grouse in the sense of the species that I thought but it is a beautiful animal

distant sphinx
#

They were once in the same order as Grouse and in Hawaii they are still seen as a type of grouse. (Basically if you have “grouse” in the name they see it as a true grouse). However, with the vast amount of gamebirds introduced to Hawaii it wouldn’t be surprising if there are actual grouse there. It took 15+ years for the government to acknowledge that we had Coqui Frogs, a rat problem, and Small Indian Mongoose problem (they imported the diurnal mongoose to hunt the nocturnal rats and had the audacity to be surprised that both are now out of control)

The Spanish goat comes from goats brought to Mexico or Texas. They came from the Caribbean and were of Spanish origin. A study of their DNA demonstrated an Iberian origin. The extensive breeding method has created a small, rustic goat. Goats have long been the poor relation of livestock farming and only the most resistant have tolerated poor quality nutrition, little care and precarious shelter. The goat was a family animal, its products (milk, meat, leather) not being intended for sale. At the beginning of the 20th century, breeders imported Angora goats for their wool, then dairy goats for the emerging production of goat cheese. Some interbreeding took place with Spanish goats, further contributing to diversifying the appearance. Some breeders selected the largest males and introduced a few males of Nubian breed to improve the size and milk production of the goats. They have made this breed an effective beef breed. 42-64 cm in terms of height the female probably smaller and a weight of 90.7 kilos to 113 kilos and the female of 20 kilos to 68.39 kilos. The goats actually seek the shelter of the cliffs in the early hours of the morning and move to the lava plains where they spend the whole day feeding etc. In the early evening, they begin their migration towards the cliffs where they spend the night. But otherwise various habitat environments. otherwise various colors ranging from several variations of tricolor, bicolor of which the only rare ones are: albino, melanic and piebald.

#

They are found large in the Big Island and Maui, if there is another island did not hesitate to say so.

The average height of Hawaiian black sheep for ewes is 20 to 27 inches (50 cm to 68 cm) at the withers and 21 to 31 inches (53 to 78 cm) at the withers for rams. For ewe weight, ewes can weigh between 60 and 150 pounds (27 to 68 kilos). Rams generally weigh
from 75 to 200 pounds (34 to 90 kilos). from mountainous terrains to dense forests, The lush, open grasslands. Colors: black (very common), brown white (fairly rare), tan (fairly rare), orange (rare), albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare), various variations of black, brown or even orange (fairly common).

The brush-tailed rock wallaby measures 1 m to 1.30 m long (more than half of which is for the tail) and weighs between 5 and 11 kg. A population of wallabies was established in the Ko'olau Range, Oahu, in 1916. The few specimens available differ from the known Australian forms in skull characteristics, size and electrophoretic profile. The population appears largely confined to approximately 7.0 ha in a valley of approximately 150 to 400 m, on an average slope of 60°. There were approximately 53 individuals (range 27-94, p = 0.05) in a 1.5 ha grid, indicating a population of 247 animals (126-439). The sex ratio was 1:3 male:female. Brush-tailed rock-wallabies live on rock faces close to grassy areas and often in open forests. They prefer sites with numerous ledges, caves, and crevices. colors: 2 tones (common), light gray (quite rare), gray (common), dark gray (rare), white (or pink) (very rare), albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare).

nova flare

The Vancouver bull is During the last years of the 18th century, the British naval captain George Vancouver, landed on the Big Island of Hawaii and brought as a gift to the Hawaiian King Kamehameha I Mexican cattle: four males and eight females, of the Hereford breed, whose males can have horns up to 1.80 m long and weighing 680-900 kilos. They live in dense forests, and dense forests (and probably other places but I can't find anything on the subject). Colors: red and white (very common), black (fairly common), orange (fairly common), black and white (fairly common), lots of variety of bicolor, tricolor (fairly rare), albino, melanistic and piebald (very rare ).
If you have information on other geographical areas where we can see them like the Valleys, meadows etc... plus the size of the male and the female, that would be cool because I absolutely cannot find their sizes.

If one wanted to base a Cotw map in the Hawaiian islands it wouldnt be an easy quest to find the right mammal roster but following species would fit I believe

-feral cattle
-black tailed deer
-european rabbit
-axis deer
-feral goat
-feral sheep
-feral pig
-feral cat
-european mouflon
-brush tailed rock wallaby (protected by law)
-blackbuck
-small indian mongoose

I also want to note that on the forbiden island of ni'ihau there are introduced populations of aoudad, eland and oryx but the island can only be entered by people with permission from the robbinsons

With game fowl the options are a bit larger these species would fit most.

-cuckar
-rio grande turkey
-california quail
-gambels quail
-japanese quail
-chestnut bellied sandgrouse
-green pheasant
-ring necked pheasant
-kalij pheasant
-erckels francolin
-black francolin
-gray francolin
-spotted dove
-mourning dove
-zebra dove
-blue peafowl

In small numbers but not as gamebirds you might also find helmeted guineafowl, golden pheasant, and feral chickens
I also think that as waterfowl species (but native thus protected) both hawaiian duck and Hawaiian goose would fit

nova flare
#

yes apart from the forbidden island and its animals which I was not aware of, the rest I was. but hey 21 animals is not bad

nova flare
#

but this island where we can't go and where there are eland, oryx and aoudad, what are these animals used for, are they hunting game?

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

and you think it's a good idea to put these islands and these 3 animals?. Something like this, the character is brought back to Hawaii by this family to take care of problematic animals and also take the opportunity to meet unique species.

nova flare
#

I will wait to see what others think if they also want this island and if a majority agrees then I will try to find a place to put the island which will arrive with 3 new species.

#

if you want Ni'ihau Island to be there put a 👍 if you think it's not very realistic or you don't like it put a 👎

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

if there are as many yes as no I think I can put it towards where there is the yellow circle. After all it is smaller than the other islands.

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

ha maybe, I had thought of fairly large islands but the problem is that some islands have this type of species while others do not, that's why I made several different islands

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

it's not false. You are right. I would like to see what people think between a map with various islands large enough to visit and a map with one large island. But for the island with the eland and the Oryx it is better to have a separate island so why not a large island and another smaller island. yeah finally I still have to think about what the map will look like

graceful yoke
#

The smallest hawaiian island with public land hunting would be lanai which is still 6 cotw map so may be like you said a part of a large island (not the entire island) and a smaller offshore island which is based of ni'ihau

nova flare
#

yes at worst I will make do with where the animals are. because basically each of the islands that I had made each had at least its animal based on the real animals found there. because not in all the islands there is the axis deer or the Vancouver bull. that's why I did it apart

deep tartan
nova flare
#

ho yes precisely the island JANNY is talking about, it could be something like, showing your hunting skills, the family asks you to come and at the end of the story missions or at least after something that increases your popularity rating , the family asks you to enjoy oryx hunting. , elk and aoudad. I thought of something like this when I had the idea for the different cards.

#

Eland no Elk sorry

graceful yoke
#

I would also enjoy a desert/semi desert to be present on the lower elevations of the mainland, as many interesting species such as francolins, sand grouse and black buck are found here

#

Much of the upland bird habitat in the Hawaiian islands is open land in these areas axis deer are also found

nova flare
#

ha yes maybe only returned without having a mission on this island before finishing arriving at a mission. I need to find ideas for missions but basically some of the style we can go to this island but the missions are deactivated but for a moment because when we continue the main mission at a given moment we should go to this island for something . Yes, we have to find a way. But after the island would be a city for the closed version because it is private so do some mission (to show that we are capable / that the family can trust us) on the other hand if we do this technique, the people who playing multiplayer you won't be able to go on the map. Or you have to do something like this: discover 80-85% of the map (so visit the Other Islands) and then you can go to this island so that people play it alone or in multiplayer, everyone could go there and at the same time they can take the opportunity to hunt and discover the unique biomes on each island. In short, as a reward for the discovery you earn the right to hunt 3 completely unique and unexpected species. What do you think about it?

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

yes for the islands version it was expected that this island would be more heavenly, that this island more mountainous, that this one more desert. In short, islands with unique biomes like Hawaii in real life, each island is not alike and therefore that gives the fun and WOW side of the map. The fact that the islands have different biomes, landscapes, animals and flora

#

Nonetheless, the axis deer have very big horns, wow, these deer are beautiful.

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

that's why I made my map in different islands, the brown represents the mountainous areas and one for example is very very mountainous while another is very open, I based myself on the 6 islands where we can hunt and I tried to do my best so that it's island is roughly the same elevations, meadows etc...

#

Besides, on the Great Islands, which is the one with the white spots on the map so on the far right, we could put a point of interest with the caption: welcome to the top of the world. Because 4000 m of Mauna Khea di I write well is above sea level but in reality there are 6000 m below before the base of the mountain ends in the oceanic crust, which means that it is more taller than Everest. That would be an interesting anecdote

graceful yoke
#

Dense rainforests cover much of Hawaii these forests would be the home to Vancouver bulls, feral hogs, turkeys and blacktail deer all in high numbers but also lower populations of sheep and axis deer

#

In dry woodlands and scrublands you would find many birds but also big game such as mouflon, feral sheep, feral goats and axis deer

graceful yoke

It is currently illegal to hunt rabbits of any type in Hawaii, same applies to feral cats. Instead they have a trap spay/neuter release program for the feral cat population. If you really want to talk about the most widespread “farming” then it should absolutely be sugarcane (holy cannoli it is abundant).

For the sake of realism there could be different/certain hunting zones where you are permitted to only use a bow/crossbow. (These areas are typically marked by rickety fences irl and are rather sporadically placed around zones where you are permitted to hunt with guns. Yes, it is common to have your quarry bound into the bow area so you can no longer legally harvest it.)

The Blacktail that call Hawaii home also frequent the lava flows, where minerals build up on the very uneven terrain, and consume said minerals.

graceful yoke
distant sphinx
#

I see where you are coming from but Hawaii already has quite a bit of new species for COTW, especially if they don’t just put them into existing species (like the feral goats already in game are not a good fit for the feral goats of Hawaii). But, this would give a great space for returning species (looking at you Blacktail Deer) which would hopefully grant them a much needed overhaul (especially in looks).

graceful yoke
distant sphinx

Some do kind of have roughly the same shape of horns as the feral goats in game (just with less spiraling/twisting in the shape)

Others are more akin to a cross between the Gredos & Southeastern Spanish Ibex shape. Where they curve up and back before splaying out.

Yeah, a separate island based on Ni’ihau could absolutely work. Though I’m not well versed on that island in general (or the species on it), I am more accustomed to the hunting community on Kaua’i, Big Island (born and raised), Maui (not as much), and O’ahu. Kinda sorta, think of them as the living ancestors to our domestic chickens. They are typically smaller but far brighter and even more colorful (they also have very fancy morphs/plumage types too. People do have the the better specimens sent from family/friends on other islands, but attempt to breed better colors into them. Unfortunately not for the best reasons in regards to the poor critters (a very dark and cruel topic I won’t get into).

nova flare

Giraffes in Hawaii wow
but what are these safaris for?

distant sphinx
#

I’m not necessarily sure on how to put it, or what to call it, but I’ll try my best to clarify. These safaris are not of the hunting variety, but are instead like a drive through zoo. Where you purchase a ticket for your vehicle and sometimes little buckets of food/treats to give to whatever animal gets close to your car. They give people up close experiences with animals they would otherwise never encounter and also use the funds generated to help care for their animals, and rehabilitate any rescues that come through their doors.

The California quail is a fairly common and widespread gamebird you can find them basically anywhere besides dense forests. Especially in grasslands, scrublands and subdesert environments

#

The similar and related gambels quail was also introduced to the Hawaiian islands of Hawaii and kaho'olawe where you can find them in dry and shrubbed slopes of large volcanos such as Mauna kea and Mauna loa

#

The japanese quail can be found in many habitats especially agricultural fields and grasslands on almost all the (major) islands

#

The black francolin is a very common game bird on the Hawaiian islands it can be found in scrublands and grasslands as long they have enough plants for good cover and hiding

#

Both the erckels francolin and the grey francolin are common in the same habitats as black francolin

On hawaii the chestnut bellied sandgrouse lives in arid desert and semi-desert environments where they fly large differences for water

Yes, they can fly but they are by no means adept at flying for distances. But it is still amazing to see people’s reactions to seeing them fly.

Hunting a Nēnē will grant you quite serious jail time AND a fine of up to $50,000. If COTW adds Nēnē, it should be purely for ambiance. (not a game species)

graceful yoke
distant sphinx
#

The difference is there have been many a discussion on allowing limited hunting of the Bengal Tiger, even some on the Snow Leopard (not as much of a discussion as the Bengal Tiger). There has not been any discussion, much less thoughts, on granting permission to hunt Nēnē.

dry zealot
#

Not every map need to include protected species

Especially if they have a lot of legally huntable species in the area

graceful yoke
#

To put it shortly the Hawaiian goose is a waterfowl species of which many are hunted both irl and in-game and it is not endangered all it is is not legal to hunt there I understand that as a local this can be frustrating when i see european bison, black grouse and ferruginous duck beeing hunted I'm frustrated but it benefits the overall game

graceful yoke
#

If they'rd be a Japan map you'd wanna be able to hunt mandarin duck because it would beneficial so why not hunt Hawaiian goose in hawaii

dry zealot
# graceful yoke I see your point and I generally agree but a waterfowl species is a unique thing...

Hawaii is already a unique hunting destination

Adding a protected goose species feels a bit unnecessary when it has a good variety of upland birds

Hawaii could easily serve as a Big Game & Upland Reserve

And as fun as waterfowl hunting can be in the game, the geese get very annoying after a while with the constant honking (I do hope they can give us the option to turn that off like we have in Classic)

distant sphinx
#

The Nēnē was ONLY granted Near Threatened status in 2021, this is amazing for them. Therefore, we shouldn't be able to hunt them because conservation is a huge motivating factor in Hawaii, paying homage to the inspiration behind a reserve should be of utmost importance.

graceful yoke
#

This is a hunting game not a hunting reality it should be fun and feel like game and if a species feels and looks like a lot of other game species that is the case

Nēnē may be beautiful, but that is not a good enough reason to add them to a reserve. A species that is even more striking, abundant, and legal to harvest in Hawaii is the Indian Peafowl (as of late 2020 you can hunt them in Pu‘u Wa‘awa‘a)

Yes for the moment I have put 3 animals but if an African card comes first that would be good, personally I find that it is already more logical to have an African card with one of its animals or all 3 if is possible and thus we can make the link with Africa and Hawaii but thank you very much for the information because it is true that it is hard to find information on this animal

But the islands are super close to each other, most Hawaiian islands are so far apart that you can't even see the other islands, Oahu for example is 120 km from Kauai. I think one or two islands would make sense, the islands are also very large, the big island for example is 150 kilometers across, I feel a bunch of small islands would feel very hawai'iish yk, I think something like that would fit better in Indonesia or french Polynesia

These birds are not native to Hawaii. Many species were introduced—more than the ones you see in the picture. (1)

George Washington also brought the golden pheasant to America for the first time from England. In the 18th century, it was brought to Europe from China.

There are established feral populations in both Europe and America. They are hardly ever spotted.

There is a variant called obscurus (Black-Throated Golden Pheasant). (2)

nova flare

I tried to put the names in Hawaiian but it doesn't correspond to what I want to say so the island furthest to the right, which refers to the Big Islands, will be called "the island of the awakened giant" in reference to the Mona Keia volcanoes. which will have another name.

nova flare
#

A point of discovery can be placed at the very top of the volcanoes on the island which refers to Big Islands explaining why this is the true largest mountain in the world.

nova flare

another name for the islands would be Perdison Island for the island where the eland, the Oryx and the Aoudad are found. Perdison comes from the name of the hive family that bought this island. It's a private island that requires you to explore at least 80% of the map and hunt at least 5-7 different species. This allows the family to discover your talent and trust you to enter their islands to hunt the 3 creatures mentioned.

deft grotto
# nova flare Okay, but what makes that a map that isn't super fun? Oh no, I'm not offended, I...

The type or maps I enjoy are Coniferous forest based or something similar (Like Askiy and Layton) This map just isn’t my type of map, thus for the 👎. I can remove it if you feel it’s unfair that I add it because it’s “not my map style”. Hope this is helps 🫶 I also feel like I’d like to see a lot of these species first on another map, from a country/region they originate from. Also a lot of species in the list need drastic remodels, but they aren’t mentioned. Finally, I also think something else would work better as a G1, like the Eland for example.

Again, just my opinion 🖤

nova flare
#

Yes, I forgot to say because it seems to be the case since the last 2 maps, but the species that come back will be remodeled. In addition, I took the black-tailed deer as G1 because it is found in Layton Lake District, so everyone can have this G1. But honestly, I had thought about the G1 eland and I would have loved to do it. After all, these animals are truly hunted animals and they are hunted because historically they were brought back and now it poses a problem, that's why. You can keep your thumbs down, negative opinions are always interesting because they allow us to improve and see a more critical vision of things. Your opinion is certainly a negative criticism, but intelligently constructed, so no need to apologize for that. Finally, as for coniferous forests, there are some. Hawaii is an island that is all more different than the others, so of course there are coniferous forests. As proof, I will put some photos of these forests which are also in the map to give more variety in terms of biome

#

on the other hand we really find the Texas dall sheep and the paint desert sheep because I can't find anything on the subject of these 2 species in Hawaii, so finally we don't find them I will remove it.

#

deft grotto
#

If you want mission suggestions, I got some for ya. My idea was what EC should’ve been. A lot of pest control etc.For example, harvest a Wild hog that weighs over 200 KG or something. Maybe something about a giant boar that has been wreaking havoc and it’s a guaranteed diamond with a unique fur.

Ps. I removed the 👎, because I read through the whole thread completely, and did some extra research and I’m kinda liking the idea of this map now 🖤

nova flare
#

deft grotto
# nova flare good suggestion

All I’m trying to say is that if we get this map, it needs a really good story, so that EW starts steering away from the track of bad stories, like they are currently doing

nova flare
#

It's true to return to the old story while innovating, especially with long stories like the first maps,

nova flare
#

after that don't hesitate to also see the other maps that I made and tell us your opinion, if you also have ideas etc... Each map has its species and its biomes, there is necessarily one that you will like

graceful yoke
#

I think Hawai'i is so versatile that it has so much potential for a long story, something about balancing hunting opportunities (especially traditional hog hunting) with bird and plant conservation, about protecting the land from tourism or about the traditional life of the people on the "eland island" I also want some more challenges.

A nice challenging mission could be for example "shoot a golf hog at under 30 yards, on the farms at night", just something that really gets you fighting

#

The struggle of local farmers, invasive species, and harvesting axis deer meat could all be parts of story

#

These deserts like the ka'u desert irl could be great for mouflon, sandgrouse and chuckar

#

Hunting feral goats here😍

nova flare
#

That's what I thought at first, each island has its own biomes, its own reliefs, its own flairs, as is the case I think in reality and there is a desert but SOOOOO GOOD

#

As long as it's not like Askyie Ridge and its mountains that are useless, I want all parts of the mountain to be useful, so seeing animals above the mountains, even climbing the ravines, it could be epic.

nova flare
#

Here are the different climates found in Hawaii and also on the islands on the map

#

imagine hunting birds, deer and especially the different species of sheep here

graceful yoke
#

The sheep are so complicated I would just have feral sheep and mouflon imo

nova flare
#

The more complicated it is, the cooler it is, it gives challenges to do and achieve.

nova flare
#

Ha yes

graceful yoke
#

Like 4 different sheep doesn't make sense especially if it's just different names for feral sheep populations, have mouflon and feral sheep and that's enough imo

nova flare
#

This allows us to specify which species of feral sheep they have

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

Yes, but they are different variations.

#

If you want to please yourself, I can just put feral sheep

graceful yoke
#

Do what you want and find right, I'll make my own hawaii eventually but I won't force your idea to look the same

nova flare
#

No, but that way it reduces the number of species (honestly, that's just why I want to do this)

#

It's good, I just put in parentheses what type of Feral sheep we can see, but like that now I'm at 20 animals.

nova flare
#

I'm going to start with the main missions. Don't hesitate if you have one (I'll do a maximum of 35 main missions).
We'll start basically with:
First mission: Find an observation tower
Second mission: Find a house

#

For the next missions I will look for at least 7 names and first names of people from these places.

graceful yoke
nova flare
#

Yes, these are the first missions we had from the first 4 maps (from Hirfelden to Medved Taiga), since I only have this map, I'm inspired by it.

nova flare

I think that would be really cool and animals you would hunt there maybe lizards, some birds and goats. I do realize this may be not so realistic but wouldn’t you think that’d be awesome. The biomes could be rainforest, deserty dry area maybe and volcano area

nova flare
#

Yes, I had thought about that with the largest island which is inspired by Big Islands (the largest is the one on the far right of the map I made). It is expected that the volcano is dormant even if there is fresh lava, basically to say that the volcano woke up a few days ago and for the moment it is good. Goats and different breeds of sheep can be seen nearby, bighorn sheep too. Lizards, I had not heard of large lizards that could be hunted in Hawaii. But otherwise yes, it is possible I forgot to mention other animals found in the mountains

Are there bighorn sheep in Hawaii?
the ones we already have in the game on the new maps or another species of bighorn sheep

Hello, good evening, for the music of this map, I said to myself, tell me of course what you think, but why not a music by island, small music of 2 or 3 minutes, inspired by the traditional music of there (I will continue anyway put research on the subject). Why that, because I say to myself, a different music can make you want to "collect" them by listening to them all and that would undoubtedly make you want to travel to new places, new places

nova flare

Today, we're going to talk about music, and especially instruments. I could talk about the famous ukulele, but I prefer to talk about a flute called the Ohe Hano Hiu, or hano. It's a Hawaiian bamboo nasal flute of great antiquity. Its length is 25 to 50 cm, pierced with three to four holes. Its etymology comes from ohe = bamboo; hano = sound; ihu = nose.
Oral tradition from various families indicates that the number of finger holes ranged from one to four, and that their placement varied according to the player's musical tastes. Although it was primarily a court instrument, played privately and for personal enjoyment, it could also be used in conjunction with chants, songs, and hula. Kumu hula (dance masters) were said to be able to reproduce the sound of the flute as if they were singing, or to sing while playing. Leilehua Yuen, a kumu hula, is one of the few contemporary Hawaiian musicians to play the nose flute in this manner.

I imagined that this was inspired by a European instrument but no, I didn't know that it came from Portugal, thank you for teaching me something.

Hawaiian hibiscus are seven species of hibiscus native to Hawaii. The yellow hibiscus is Hawaii's state flower. The native plants in the genus Hibiscus in Hawaii are thought to have derived from four independent colonization events for the five endemic species (four closely related species plus the yellow-flowered species) and one each for the two indigenous species. The native hibiscus found in Hawaii are:

Hibiscus arnottianus A.Gray – kokiʻo keʻokeʻo ("kokiʻo that is white like the shine of silver") is an endemic species of hibiscus with white flowers. Three subspecies are recognized: H. arnottianus ssp. arnottianus found in the Waianae Range of western Oahu; H.a. ssp. immaculatus which is very rare (listed as endangered) on Molokai; and H.a. ssp. punaluuensis from the Koʻolau Range on Oahu. Perhaps only a dozen plants of H. a. ssp. immaculatus exist in nature in mesic and wet forests. This species is closely related to H. waimeae, and the two are among the very few members of the genus with fragrant flowers. It is sometimes planted as an ornamental or crossed with H. rosa-sinensis. In the Hawaiian language, the white hibiscus is known as the pua aloalo.
Hibiscus brackenridgei A.Gray – maʻo hau hele ("hau most similar to maʻo") is a tall shrub (up to 10 m or 33 ft) with bright yellow flowers, closely related to the widespread H. divaricatus. Two subspecies are recognized: H. b. ssp. brackenridgei, a sprawling shrub to an erect tree found in dry forests and low shrublands at elevations of 400–2,600 ft (120–790 m) above sea level on Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and the island of Hawaii; and H. b. ssp. mokuleianus, a tree from dry habitats on Kauai and the Waianae Range on Oahu. This species is listed as an endangered species by the USFWS. The yellow flower of this species was made the official state flower of Hawaii on June 6, 1988, and although endangered in its natural habitats, has become a moderately popular ornamental in Hawaiian yards.

#

Hibiscus kokio Hillebr., kokiʻo or kokiʻo ʻula ("red kokiʻo") is a shrub or small tree (3–7 m or 9.8–23.0 ft) with red to orangish (or rarely yellow) flowers. This endemic species is not officially listed, but considered rare in nature. Two subspecies are recognized: H. kokio ssp. kokio found in dry to wet forests on Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and possibly Hawaii at elevations of 70–800 m (230–2,620 ft); and H. k. ssp. saintjohnianus from northwestern Kauai at elevations of 150–890 m (490–2,920 ft).
Hibiscus tiliaceus L., hau, is a spreading shrub or tree common to the tropics and subtropics, especially in coastal areas. This species is possibly indigenous to Hawaii, but may have been introduced by the early Polynesians.
Hibiscus waimeae A. Heller, kokiʻo keʻokeʻo or kokiʻo kea ("kokiʻo that is white as snow"), is a Hawaiian endemic, gray-barked tree, 6–10 m (20–33 ft) tall, with white flowers that fade to pink in the afternoon. Two subspecies are recognized: H. waimeae ssp. hannerae (rare and listed as endangered) found in northwestern valleys of Kauai, and H. w. ssp. waimeae occurring in the Waimea Canyon and some western to southern valleys on Kauai. This species closely resembles H. arnottianus in a number of characteristics.

#

Hibiscus clayi O.Deg. & I.Deg. is an endemic shrub or small tree with bright red flowers, generally similar to H. kokio, found naturally in the dry forests of Kauai. It is listed as a threatened species by the USFWS.

Thank you very much, I hadn't specified what type of places it was, I should have done it, sorry for that. Because if I had specified that it was a Hawaiian map even if I did it on the main description, it could have helped to better visualize this thread. I don't know if there are other things I could fix. I try a little every day to remove the many bumps that I had put, I realize that it destroys the rhythm of the idea and makes the thread rather ugly

So I don't know if this is available in English, but for a few days now, Arte, a Franco-German channel recognized in both countries, has released videos on the islands. For the moment there are 3 islands, if it's in English you can take advantage of it to see and learn a little more educationally. and especially see its diversity in all its forms.

nova flare
nova flare

As for this map idea, the key word is diversity. Diversity of places, islands, animals. Diversity means fun in every corner. Since they will never be the same. With some species visible only on one island and not others, the other may be reserved for a particular ecosystem on a particular island.

Axis deer were brought to the Hawaiian Islands from India in late 1867 as a gift to King Kamehameha V and released on Moloka´i in 1868. Some were moved to O'ahu before 1898 and some to Lanai in 1920. Axis deer were also released on Maui in 1959. Only in Lanai island there are between 25,000 at 30,000 of this deer

Hawaii is truly paradise on earth. Beautiful scenery, beautiful animals. Unfortunately, none of them are native and they harm Hawaii's fragile ecosystem, so why not help improve this ecosystem by reducing our aggressors?

graceful yoke
# nova flare Hawaii is truly paradise on earth. Beautiful scenery, beautiful animals. Unfortu...

Some of the introduced wildlife liked freak hogs have been brought over to Hawaii by Polynesians millennia ago and have been traditionally hunted for thousands of years. Some other species like many game birds do not do that much damage (especially since basically all the larger Hawaiian birds are long lost) and fill a niece that's pretty unoccupied, they also provide hunting opportunities.
And then there is a fee that are just plain damaging, like mosquitos, mongooses, rats, many invasive songbirds and a HUGE amount of plant species.

Some species are also controversial there are people who call for the complete eradication of species like axis deer, fetal goat, black buck and there are others who argue that they have economical and sometimes even cultural upsides.

nova flare
#

Okay, I wasn't aware of the hogs. As for the birds, I suspected as much, since they're small birds, and birds can drop seeds from their caves and promote biodiversity. But yes, I was mainly talking about deer, bulls, and the numerous species of goats and sheep found all over the islands. Thanks for the information 🙂

nova flare
#

So this represents, it seems, all the species of large game birds in Hawaii (some have already spoken about it, saying that it was quite difficult, frowned upon, if I remember correctly, like the peacock).

I've never seen one, and frankly, it doesn't interest me much. I'm mainly into flamingos; they're my favorite birds. I know there are three species where I live, but since I like colorful animals, the most colorful francolin would probably be my favorite. And after doing some research (right here), I'd say the Red-necked Spurfowl for now. What about you?

nova flare

For the outposts, why not traditional Hawaiian houses? Here are a few examples.

graceful yoke
nova flare

Yeah, a mix, and for the island ruled by the wealthy family with the elands, why not a large villa with space to display trophies? That could be interesting with the modern style you were talking about.

nova flare

nova flare
#

What's going to be cool about this concept is the idea of various islands with different biomes and morphologies. Okay, so it's going to be different in terms of terrain difficulty, with different colors and biomes to please everyone. But above all, some islands have their own unique ecosystems. The fact that you'll only find animals like wallabies in cliff systems, just like in real life, adds an element of exploration. It forces us to go from one island to another if we want to hunt a particular animal. Perhaps there's a lack of marine animals (I'd need to find at least one or two marine species, like seabirds or marine mammals), but I'm not sure if they'll be legal. But at least some decorative animals, maybe, to add a bit more life. Because it would be a shame if life were confined to the land, but we also mustn't forget that the sea plays a significant role in the landscape. Having nothing on that side (even though it makes sense) would be a bit like the mountains in the Layton Lake District. But otherwise, you'll have plenty to keep you entertained.

For a hunting rifle in Hawaii, maybe a .270 or a .302. In any case, a rifle for medium-sized game (something equivalent to being able to hunt game between sizes 3 and 7). Yeah, okay, I'm having trouble understanding how this works. I'll probably come back with some better hunting rifle ideas.
