Te Backfill. Tahr, Rocky Elk, maybe Whitetail.

It has been over 6 months since Sundar came out. With that we got Tahr. At launch people were asking to put Tahr on Te due to it being set in New Zeland. With that Rocky Elk are one of the more popular animals to target in New Zeland. Whitetails are also a popular animals in the area aswell, however we have so many Whitetail maps already. I dont think we need them on Te. But it would still be a welcome addition. Down below I have some Home ranges that I think would work for them. Please share your opinion in the comments!

Don’t Whitetail exclusively live on like a single tiny island and also around a small lake in NZ?

I also think giving tahr a drink time kinda defeats the whole point of hunting them; The King Of The Mountains

I think if whitetail were to be added they should be west side of the map so they don’t clash with fallow deer drinking and so the west side has something more for drawing hunters there

So whitetail less distributed I'd rather have rusa deer, rockt elk I support with may be a smaller range and tahr shall be on the high mountains including the peaks and should not drink otherwise I support this

Btw, the elk/wapiti in NZ are likely hybrids so I wouldn't really attribute them to any subspecies (nor actually have them, for that matter). I would rather see Arapawa Ram added.

I would make them rocky Mountain elk as that's what they were brought in as under the Command of hunter, president and conservationist teddy Roosevelt

Personally I don’t want Whitetail on Te as we have absolutely plenty of maps with them already, but Tahr, RM Elk, Rusa & Sambar, and possibly even Pheasants.

Tahr absolutely need to be backfilled on Te Awaroa now that we finally have them. My one concern however is how cramped the mountains feel on Te Awaroa. The tahr home range is going to feel pretty congested, especially alongside the existing chamois.

It does with the current chamois population as they tend to travel off the mountains quite a bit. With the reserves entire tahr population spending most all there time in the mountains though I feel it would be otherwise.
