Three of the species do not have available hunts that being the Bactrian deer, snow leopard and Tibetan wolf but since snow leopards are already in the game I am sure they can work out a way for Bactrian deer and Tibetan wolves to be in the game

As for a Great One I really love markhor goats and Marco Polo sheep could be the perfect Great One specimen but wild boar are a base game animal and deserve a great one

Tajikistan does offer grey wolf hunts so Tibetan wolf could be replaced with grey wolves but I’d prefer Tibetan wolves

The another subspecies in that part of Asia that could work in place of the Tibetan Wolf would be the Steppe Wolf (Canis lupus campestris)

This is the map I went off of but I’ll look to see if they offer steppe wolf hunts in that area if not it would be like the Tibetan wolf in which they were able to put in snow leopards and bengal tigers so why not endangered wolf species

Also I chose Tibetan wolf over Iranian wolf because I could find very little information on Iranian wolf

There seems to be different maps showing different distributions for wolf subspecies, plus it seems Eurasian Grey Wolf, Steppe Wolf and Tibetan Wolf are all said to live in Tajikistan

If it helps. Tibetan/Himalayan Wolves are only considered protected in India, Bhutan, China (Countries we really can't hunt in anyways), Pakistan and Nepal (countries that can be hunted in), I have seen nothing saying that wolves are protected in Tajikistan, then again what I have read assumes the wolves in Tajikistan are either Eurasian Wolf or Steppe Wolf

Yeah Central Asian countries primarily promote their main target animals like blue sheep in Nepal and Caucasus tur in Georgia but the other animals kind of get left out as there is little information on Himalayan bear hunting and bactrian red deer hunting but you can still find offered hunts on them and I did find one wolf hunt offering in Tajikistan but it just said canis lupus so I don’t know what subspecies

I have never heard of anyone hunting in Georgia for tur, I have heard of people hunting East Caucasian Tur in Azerbaijan and Russia, and West Caucasian Tur was always hunted in Russia

I had looked at there home ranges and saw both species in Georgia and just assumed but you are right they can no longer be hunted in Georgia

Yeah that’s why I really want this map to happen because these are some of my favorite animals but unless you’re gonna pay a few thousand dollars you’ll never be able to experience them and that’s were a hunting simulator comes in to play and I’d say most people in America have hunted whitetail and and in Europe roe deer so the companies focus should be more on the animals most people will never hunt

Ok that’s good to know but I chose the specific region of that western bit of Gorno Badakhshan because the main focus of the map for me was to have Markhor, Marco Polo, mid Asian ibex and urial sheep and all four are found in the part of Gorno if I can squeeze any other animals in there that would be good but I’ve been looking at distribution maps a lot and not everything lives in that area where the four sheep are for instance Tajikistan has elk but they live closer to Uzbekistan

The reason I suggested the ak was one I own an ak and they’re awesome and two Tajikistans Soviet connection but ak’s are not hunted with in the country since they are banned but we would have both an ar in 308 and 300 blasting everything we see so I didn’t think an ak would be a bad suggestion although there wouldn’t be a good way to tie it into the missions but I’d prefer the map just be an outfitter with missions based on harvesting

Let’s be honest, AK rounds aren’t exactly famous for making it past 250yds. And that’s completely disregarding the lack of energy it would by carrying by that point

7.62x39mm is almost exactly the same as a 30-30 from my experience so it’s not a great long range round but you can get good with it keep in mind the reason ak-47s are considered to have bad accuracy is because they were being mass produced across the Soviet Union with little care to the quality of production but modern ak-47s are quite capable but I still wouldn’t want to shoot pass 300yds

I’ll be honest of all hunting calibers I am most biased towards 270 and its variants I grew up hunting with 270 and still own my first 270 so if I could choose any gun for this reserve it would be a 270wsm in a Westley Richards style take down safari rifle but i understand that’s not everyone favorite and its not really interesting to most people

Most of the 7-8 calibers are more versatile in real life than they are in the game the 7mm is the most accurate caliber in the game currently although some may argue that it shouldn’t go to class 9 I hope this map happens but I’m still rooting for a big 5 African map and if we get that we need class 10 animals and then there is really only two guns in the game for them

Oh ok that makes sense I had actually gone to google earths 3D mode to look at Tajikistan while making the original post it wasn’t very detailed but the terrain was still very interesting and from what I saw if this map was to be made then it would likely be the most mountainous map in the game and because there is very little brush it would be pretty easy to hunt unlike sundarpatan which is covered in trees

Their is no single makhor, but 3 distinct species the species would be the Bukhara makhor on a map set in Tajikistan

That species is listed as critically endangered thus making all makhor in Tajikistan critically endangered, they are still hunted so It would make sense to include them

Tajikistan Is a country that makes good money off of hunting so like South Africa and other countries down there they will often allow hunts for animals that may be threatened or endangered but they money helps to support the redistribution and growth of that species and also helps the economy

The trinomial scientific name for the Bukharan Markhor is Capra falconeri heptneri, which backs up the fact about them being only a subspecies

Hunting is used to fund conservation efforts for Markhor in Tajikistan and Pakistan from what I remember reading, and that is partially why their population is doing well in those two countries

Regardless of either stance Tajikistan still offers multiple hunts for them and also I’d mention that there are multiple species in the game already that are far more threatened and or endangered than Markhor I’d also mention that since Tajikistan declared independence they have put in a major effort to grow their hunting industry and thus increasing the population of animals in that country I will use an example of my home state in Alabama black bear are our state animal and at one time due to over hunting the population was about 200 then many years later they did a population recount and found about 500 as of today the sightings and encounters of gone up dramatically and we expect about 700 this is a span about 100 years I know this is very different scenario from the Markhor but I’m just emphasizing the impact of time

And for those who do take interest into Alabamas black bears you will likely have a hard time reaching anything but part of the increase is that there are two subspecies of black bear in our state but there only used to be one however the second subspecies is native to the state but was extirpated but bears have been slowly migrating back to the state and and bears birth rates are going up if you google the population in Alabama you will see a number of about 200 this is wrong and that population count was done in the 1900s

I can only hope but I’m not sure if we’re quite ready for it however when Alabama reopened alligator season for the states first time we then broke the world record with a gator that was 15ft 9in and weighed over 1,000lbs so maybe we could have the same result

the American eastern black bear is one of the subspecies found here and is the subspecies that has recently been found in the state after being considered extirpated the Florida black bear is the more prevalent species down here in the south of the state but there is evidence that says the Louisiana black bear also is in the state but not enough evidence regardless I am very happy for Louisiana and the efforts they put into their wildlife programs I hope Alabama can achieve the same but our tourism isn’t great and stereotypes and memes that are funny but aren’t true have not helped in the slightest

A species that I remember adding to both my Tajikistan/Kyrgyzstan/Uzbekistan Reserve and later the expanded version (Tajik/Kyrygz/Uzbek/Kazakhstan) that could fit are Feral Yak, they are a bit smaller then the Wild Yak and are classified as a different species but are just as dangerous and have more fur colour variation and do get hunted on occasion in Tajikistan. I was just looking over the species list and yaks came to mind

I had saw those and thought they were cool but I was trying to think like EW and figured they wouldn’t add them because we have wild yak however they wouldn’t be able to add wild yak to this region because they don’t live there I also didn’t want to add to many species because EW would likely ignore my suggestion but I do like the feral yak and since there are a few variations of feral hog it probably wouldn’t be to difficult for them since it would be a reskin of an animal already in the game I focused more on that which we don’t have but if it’s one y’all are really set on I like them and could add them to the roster since I don’t have class 9

My Canadian Arctic Reserve has 30 species listed (Last I checked) and it has certainly been seen, but I did make a second version of the list that was reduced to 18 species (accounting for some species being rare and other species having limited distribution)

Given the size difference between wild yak and feral/domestic yak what class do yall feel like they belong in and would yall what them on this map if so I was thinking maybe class 7 but that may be too small

Honestly, I'm fine with yaks at class 9. They fit it better than bison do as far as I'm concerned

I agree yaks should be 9 but feral yaks are quite a bit smaller and they would be the smallest bovid in the game whereas bison are bigger than Cape buffalo and feral yaks would be smaller than Cape buffalo

Class 8 would be fine for both, bison are not as tough as most people seem to believe. I know they are big, but they didn't evolve to deal with big cats using group tactics to hunt. Bison simply don't have many predators and haven't for a very long time

I don’t think any bovid is really as tough as we make them out to be but bison in prehistoric times had to contend with American lions, dire wolves and many other land predators that lived in North America during that time and was able to out live them and in modern times they still are hunted by wolves and cougars it’s normally the young or weak that get eaten but the same goes for other bovids including Cape buffalo so I feel bison deserve class 9 even though some people hunt them with a 270 I’d argue the story of the bell of Africa which shows that a well placed shot from most calibers would bring down large game and if it was legal to hunt Cape buffalo with a 270 or 6.5 then I would prefer to use those calibers however some people just prefer the idea of 375 h&h or 505 gibs but I prefer the methods of Jack O’Connor

goitered gazelle are not on my species list for the same reason maral elk aren’t and that is they live in the far western part of the country which isn’t as mountainous the areas this map would take place would have to be more central to have all four major goat and sheep species I think there should be 2 or 3 more Asia maps and one of which needs to be Mongolia and a map set in western Mongolia could include goitered gazelle, Mongolian gazelle, maral elk and many other cool species but Tajikistan is the map I’m more interested in right now but if anyone wants to start a Mongolian suggestion or revise an old one I will support it

I am removing the Ak from possible map weapons. With the announcement of the rapid hunt rifle pack, AK variants will be implemented into the game. However a AKM/AK-47 chambered in 7.62x39mm covering classes 2-6, could still be a good option. I feel it would probably be better to add a different gun to this map.

Emerald coast, Sundarpatan and Askiy ridge show a major change in the quality of EW’s maps but the mountains on sundarpatan while beautiful don’t really give me the hunting experience that I expect out of mountain hunting which is what I was referring to in my comment however the mountains on sundar are difficult to hunt as mountain hunting should be the reasoning for sundars difficulty is because of it’s heavy foliage and the lack of opportunity to glass across landscape and or other ridges but askiy does offer that which is why I left sundar out since it doesn’t seem as authentic/enjoyable of a mountain hunting experience as askiy and honestly I feel that the mountain hunting on SRP and TeAw is just as good as sundarpatan and that’s not to say sundar is bad as it might just be the most well crafted map in game but still I just don’t enjoy its mountains as much as I want to and I rather hunt chamois and tahr on TeAw and yes i understand that’s my opinion and I stand by it yours is not wrong either I do agree sundar showed a major improvement to mountain generation in game but my original comment was on the feel of mountain hunting

You could also throw New England in there as one of the turning points in their new map quality but I don’t really enjoy hunting it

Oh yeah sure yk i agree it has a lotta foliage, i really enjoy the top mountains but not the middle mountains on sundarpatan, and speaking of NEM i notice mountains is in the name but idk it barely feels like the mountains at all, if anything imo that map lacks a great deal of mountain hunting, while still being a good and fun map (in fact on of my favorites) it doesn’t support that hunting we get on other maps that has mountains

Rock ptarmigan and northern pintail have been removed from the species list

There isn’t any available hunts for marmot in Tajikistan but given the state of the game and possible future I think they could work on this map

It’s legal to hunt wolves in Tajikistan but it doesn’t specify what species so I’m sticking with Tibetan wolves

Snow leopards are already in the game and this would be a fun map for them

Bacterial deer are endangered making them illegal to hunt anywhere but so are snow leopards and bangle tigers plus I think they can be tied into the missions in a fun way that explains their presence on the map

Hopefully this gives clarity for why there are some endangered species on the list and my reasoning for them being there

As far as wolf subspecies go I have seen Eurasian (Canis lupus lupus), Steppe (Canis lupus campestris) and Himalayan/Tibetan Wolf (Canis lupus chanco) all being quoted as living in Tajikistan so I understand the reasoning for sticking with the Himalayan Wolf.

On the hunting forums it just mentions Canis lupus without specifying so I chose Tibetan since it seemed the most fitting any verity to the game is good so I’d be happy with any even without as long as I get the four main sheep & goat species

unsure if i've mentioned this here or maybe in a similar thread, but there's been way too many missed opportunities to add chukar </3. they're an introduced game species in new england, and native to nepal while there's still a troublesome lack of birds on sundarpatan. if you really wanted you could make a case for them on SRP as they're introduced to western colorado but imo wouldn't suit that reserve much.

for Sundar and NEM though, i've rarely seen a better opportunity to backfill. justice for my little partriges

Yeah they are and I have them on the list but maybe they will be added with the new map also i don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion or not but I’m really not excited for as Scottish map or any uk based map I think Scotland is stunning but is it not just gonna be another Revontuli/New England mountains the only new species we’re getting is probably a few bird species but at the same time when EW does these kind of maps they follow up with a really unique map like emerald coast, sunder patan and while most the species on askiy are already in the game it’s still the best North America map in my opinion but I do really like saltzwiessen so maybe my opinion will change

It could be interesting but personally I don’t like small predator hunting just for fun but I’m sure the overwhelming majority of the community wouldn’t mind and it’s just a game so if it’s something people would want I can add it

Probably just brown bears at that point and a lot of the species I added were filler species the most important thing for this map is the four mountain species that is Markhor, Urial, Marco Polo and ca Ibex

For some of the species I added it was because people asked and that’s fine but at some you end up with too many species

Blue Sheep would not work for Tajikistan, as I said to someone else before about Marco Polo Sheep on a Pakistan reserve: A couple sightings in a specific does not mean an animal would make a good fit for a reserve set in that area.

If you'd follow subspecies it would be the bactrian deer in tajikistan, the goitered Gazelle is also present. However both species don't have super wide ranges in the country

I had originally added bactrian deer but they are critically endangered and I know they said they’ll add anything and snow leopards are my favorite thing in game but I don’t know if they would add them

I think there's around 200-300 bactrian deer in tajikistan, which is around the same amount as baarasingha or buffalo in Nepal.

It’s legal to hunt gazelle in Tajikistan so that will be added though it’s not a mountain species and this map would be in the heart of the Pamir mountains but EW can figure it out if they do it

They should also look like they live in a cold climate, no intense colours and scruffy fur like those populations living in Arabia and iran

There horns can get pretty large they also sometimes live in close vicinity to mountains

Another important discussion is that of drinking species in my opinion these should drink:

The should no drink:
Argali
Ibex

A species drinking doesn't only affect the game play but also limits it's range to places near water sources which would either make the map feel weird and full of lakes or would leave vast lands free of wildlife beccause there is no lake close by

This map would have to rely a lot of feed zones the player would mostly be hunting mountain ridges and there wouldn’t be a lot of large foliage so it should be fairly easy to “glass” and the only water on the map should be a few rivers that lead to a lake in the steppe part of the map it’s there where you’ll find the species with drink zones
