#Connection timing out
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Mine doin the same can join on randoms multiplayer games but cant join my friends game. weve tried eveything we can on our end so this must be a game related issue. HELP
So glad I’m not the only one but yet still no tips on this.
it depends where the other people from and what connection he or her has
imagine you are from the us and the other is from china then you would get timeout because it is peer to peer
I can’t speak for them but my friend lives one town over from me and I have this same issue.
have you tried the reverse ? like you host it and he joined ?
Think of it like this whenever you have a peer-to-peer connection your internet connection is directly going to someone else's internet connection. As in, their PC is one of two computers hosting the server so if that person hosting lags out (that's hosting the server on their computer ) then you're going to feel that lag. A dedicated server is a third-party type of box so usually dedicated servers are purchased through a third party company and it's just a static server that sits SOMEWHERE else. Essentially now both of you can connect and say the person that would have originally been hosting the server disconnects their internet , the server doesn't go down because there's a dedicated server actually running the software so you can still connect to it
i put it, in a term easy to undertstand the process of a p2p game vs a dedicated server
Yep. Still doesn’t work. We are both on Xbox and the only way for him to join me is if I cloud play the game. Having it installed doesn’t work.
what's your speed of internet ? it could be that or some port that are closed
since it's a p2p game i would recommand to try with other people to see if it's happening with them too. Then you could have a good conclusion about the issue of the game.
because i play on xbox and pc and i can join any peole and they can join me too
is your nat open ?
i would recommend both of you checking the nat state make sure it's open
We can both join random people but when he or I try to join the same person it won’t work. My NAT says strict not sure why. It’s usually open.
strict is the issue you need to change that to open
How do I change?
https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/help/hardware-network/connect-network/xbox-one-nat-error#general-nat-troubleshooting hope it helps alot of explanation here of nat what is the issue and why you need it open
Open NAT: You're able to play and host multiplayer games with people who have any NAT type on their network.
Moderate NAT: You might not be able to play multiplayer games with some people, and normally you won't be chosen as the host of a match.
Strict NAT: You're only able to play multiplayer games with people who have an OPEN NAT type. You can't be chosen as the host of a match.
Unavailable NAT: If NAT is unavailable, you’ll be unable to use party chat or connect to multiplayer games for some Xbox titles.
for example you have a strict nat ad your friend has a strict one too then you can't both play together. but you play with a strict nat and the people you join that works have open nat then you can join them
Dude I don’t know who you are but you’ve been awesome
Np i have been playing alot of games and the hunting gam since 2017 and i work in IT computer fields i just want people enjoying the game like i do.
As soon as I get this resolved I’ll reply to this.
Series s
Well it didn’t get it set to open but it’s on moderate.
Okay have you got inside your router settings?
If you have a firewall or network hardware, such as a router, you might need to make a configuration change in order for your Xbox One console to communicate with Xbox Live. This configuration change is sometimes called "opening ports" or "port forwarding." Xbox Live requires the following ports to be open on your router:
Port 88 (UDP)
Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
Port 80 (TCP)
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 3544 (UDP)
Port 4500 (UDP)
If you need more help you can dm me and we can check this out
Because in moderate nat you can't host game
And you will have still some issues with connecting with others online
Remember if you have moderate and you friend is strict you will some issue the best way is to really port forward on your routeur and make your nat open
Also put active upnp in the routeur settings
