Welcome to Newfoundland, a hunting paradise located in Eastern Canada. Here you may find yourself a moose of a lifetime or spend hours glassing for woodland caribou from the mountain tops, and should you feel adventurous enough you can head down to the coast to hunt birds like the Common Eider, Thick-billed Murre and Brant Goose, though if you are 100% sure about hitting a small target you can try your hand at shooting some seals. If you wish to relax after a day of big game and waterfowl you can spend your time chasing grouse and ptarmigan with a shotgun or sniping muskrats with a varmint rifle. I hope you enjoy your time here

Terrain: The map is mostly made up of boreal forest made up of black spruce and balsam fir with various mosses and shrubs. There are also various wetland types like freshwater marshes and bogs and coastal fens which are home to plants like sphagnum moose, sedges and cattails. There are several offshore islands to the east that are mainly home to turr (murres), sea ducks and seals. The interior of the reserve is dominated by highland forest and is often the best place for ptarmigan hunting and long-ranged hunts for big game. It should be noted that it occasionally snows on the map like it does on Yukon Valley and the high mountains of Sundarpatan.

Associated Weapons

  • 280 Ross Rifle: A rifle that has historical importance in Canada, would serve as a nice gun for hunting caribou and black bear (Class 3 to 7)
  • 17 HMR Lever-action Rifle: I feel that with all the small game on this map having a suitable small game rifle would not be a bad idea (Class 1 to 2)
  • 308/12 Gauge Combination Gun: An over/under combination gun based on the Baikal IZH-94, its suitable for doing a one gun challenge (or setting up the map with tents and blinds)

(forgot the images of the weapons lol)

As for the images of the terrain, this is what can be expected

#

And for big game species, there are 5 species, though I could count the Eastern Coyote as a 6th, and in order of all of them we have: Eastern Moose, Woodland Caribou (Class 6), Newfoundland Black Bear, Harp Seal (Class 3), Grey Seal (Class 3) and Eastern Coyote (Class 2 or 3)

#

In terms of Small Game there is a pretty good variety with the most common being Snowshoe Hare (with two images showing the winter & summer coats), a favoured prey of the Canada Lynx (Class 2) which is also present, other species present include Muskrats, Minks and American Red Squirrel

#

Upland Game on the other hand is limited to 4 Species: Rock & Willow Ptarmigan, Ruffed Grouse & Spruce Grouse

#

As for aquatic birds, there is an excellent variety with Black Ducks, Shovelers, Ring-necked Ducks, Common Merganser, Brant Goose, Wilson's Snipe, Common Eider and two species of murre: Common Murre and Thick-billed Murre. Locals call murres "turrs" and are a popular target bird. Goldeneyes are also present on the reserve

So I just watched a video of murre (turr) hunting from Newfoundland. Between those and the eiders, we definatly need boats for hunting them

I feel puffins could be a great addition too

Thick billed murre looks cool. If EW made this reserve they might include one murre species. Also, hooded seals and harbour seals are hunted

Some Potential Species that could be added to the species list at a later date

  • American Beaver - Class 2
  • River Otter - Class 2
  • Razorbills - Class 1
  • Hooded Seals - Class 4

Species I am excluding and why

  • Polar Bear: The occasional polar bear showing up in Newfoundland does not equal a good inclusion, plus I made this #1070045518002147458 specifically for Polar Bears
  • Puffins: A compact reserve in Iceland would be a far superior fit for puffin hunting
  • Wolves: I simply felt no need to include them

I love Revontuli, so there’s no reason I wouldn’t love this! This could be our first NA waterfowl reserve. You get my vote.
