Whilst i understand many people may find this "nitpicky" or minor, this is still incredibly important to me as a creative especially one deeply inspired by this game,
so it stings very much to see this in a game I've invested so many hours and so much money in!
So , I would like to bring attention to this image in the new map outpost.
This image of deer in the snow is clearly generated by artificial intelligence , one of the deer appears to have three ears or some strange horn protruding from its forehead for goodness sake alongside many other strange abnormalities.

When scanned by detecting tools it confirms further, linking this image most likely back to the midjourney or stable diffusion generators potentially.

(I could go into why these are extremely poor tools - but I'm here regarding this image specifically and not to get into the deep ethical issues overall, that can be studied independently if anyone reading this post is curious)

** Please replace the appearances of this image around the map with some genuine photography or artwork instead.**

I am deeply hoping this was a one off mistake &/or an oversight , which it probably is, the only record of this specific image is found on this print site which is full of other ai generated imagery. Yeah this piece has always annoyed me, especially with how center stage the one on the left is. Why couldn’t they just add a photo in game with a filter over it? There’s other photos (like the pheasant photo in there) that do that, which would look better and not have the questionable practices behind it. Not to mention hypocritical when their own fan art channels don’t allow ai (which is good don’t get me wrong).

They could run a photo contest of photos taken in game to decide what replaces it, would be a fun way to get the community involved.

It's environmental filler. Why should they waste a lot of time and effort for something that has no effect on game play and is otherwise ignored by 99.9999999999999% of players? But I love the idea of community submissions!

Personally I don't mind a digital image in the middle of everything else digital xD
But having a photo competition to replace a single image seems like a waste of time to me, especially since the appreciation of what is beautiful and what is not is completely personal and some would end up with an image they don't like again.
I think there were a couple of threads asking for photos to be uploaded to put in those frames, that would be the best option.

my original post is not about community photo competitions or anything but i think with introduction of more camera features , some friendly events could be a way to introduce people and encourage more photo taking in game.
We're already getting photography challenges and I'd hope they expand further on the feature, there is nothing better than the satisfaction of getting a good shot whether it be with a rifle, or a camera.
but im not asking for a whole competition or such, it's a fun idea absolutely ! but my post is about the removal of the image rather than extra effort to replace it.

I am fully aware this is just one environmental filler, but it still has meaning and is a slap in the face, intentional or not! to hardworking artists and photographers, i hope its just a mistake , we all make them and that's okay, if its not then, eek.
i don't expect the devs to get on this so urgently like the world will explode but i would appreciate communication from them at some point regarding this

You should probably just work on an alternative for them yourself. It would be a nice way to show appreciation of the game, showcase your talent, and give the devs one less job to "fix".

Just start posting alternatives here and the community will no doubt join in. We'll have a bunch of choices to run a poll on in no time.

a few people have already chipped in with ideas already but they may not be viable, running a photo competition or art just for one asset will take a lot of effort, and that would also mean bringing publicity to the issue they are replacing an asset,
maybe in the future when it's planned appropriately ! that'd be really fun! and also custom photos in your lodges, yes pleaseeee!!

and I , even if i deeply enjoy and love the game won't spend time preparing an asset for them in advance , its not my job , and that would open up many other possible issues in itself, whilst it's not the most fun route, letting it be solved internally is much more effective

I for one have no issue with ai generations if done well n yes I use the tools for my own use. But in this case realistic photos would be better.
