#Some Pointer dog improvements/issues

  • Pointer often picks animals to track in the direction the wind is facing, even if you are walking in the opposite direction. This makes for a pretty bad experience, since they can easily smell you coming and since you need to stay close to the dog and don't know where exactly the animal is, you can't really sneak around them either. And it doesn't make sense to me that the dog's sense of smell is not affected by wind direction the way the hunted animals are.
  • Make Spot Point command usable while looking through binoculars/scope. (At least I think you can't do that right now.)
  • I would also appreciate it if the pointer could be told to follow a particular trail or distinguish by other features that the NSFW filter won't let me mention, but I can see how that might not be a thing for a reason.

Yes bird dogs / pointers need to be tweaked .... They need to hunt faster when in searching mode . As the OP mentioned spot point needs to work correctly ...

So if I spot with a scope or binos and highlight a bird ... I should be able to issue the spot point command to the dog... This is not exactly realistic to RL bird hunting but in the context of the game and current implementation it is necessary when Trophy hunting ....

Overall a very good initial implementation but needs some tweaking .....

I would also like to see the pointers hunt/search command become more specific so instead of being able to hunt small, medium or Large game we see only one or two specific species the Dog is able to hunt ....

And it's in the training tree that you get to specify which species they are able to hunt .... So when training I get to select from a small,med or large training tree and within that specific tree I can specify this will be a quail / pheasant Dog.. Or perhaps a rabbit/coon dog ....
