As I've discussed with other animals, the Wild Boar is in need of some updates, as its age is showing and it doesn't really resemble the actual Wild Boar. Below, I will detail various changes I would like to see to help bring an iconic European species up to the same standard as various newer animals
Model Updates: As of right now, the current in-game Wild Boar only somewhat resembles a true pig. While its body is okay, the head needs a lot of work. The snout is unusually wide, and it seems to completely lack nostrils. While tusks will naturally show some of the inside of the mouth when the jaws are closed, the in-game pig suffers from being a constant mouth-breather like other older models, and sometimes its molars are visible when the mouth is shut. The fur could also benefit from being updated, as its current fur looks odd and artificial at times, especially on the head. Additionally, there is dimorphism in boars vs. sows, with boars sporting a mane along their necks and shoulders
TruRACS Update: With the proposed changes, I also suggest remodeling the tusks for both boars and sows, as well as introducing the TruRACS system to them. Having a variety of shapes and sizes for their tusks adds a ton of uniqueness to each pig, and it also offers the ability to improve on the current tusks
Sound Updates: While wild swine can be fairly elusive, there is one thing that pig hunters know well: they can be noisy eaters. While feeding, pigs vocalize a lot, making various grunts and squeals as they root around. When spooked, pigs are sometimes fairly vocal, making loud grunts and squeals as they flee. The Wild Boar could also benefit from having an increased vocal range, including sounds that are currently heard from the Feral Pig/Wild Hog. The Wild Boar also makes a distinct alarm call which is not present anywhere in-game, and it's often heard as loud huffing and screeching. Ideally, this would replace the current Warning Call (which also seems to be bugged right now, as it only ever plays the Mating Call).
Behavior Updates: While feeding, it would be great if Wild Boars would cover wider areas, spending a lot of time moving as they root around. Pigs sometimes cover vast swaths of land as they feed (which is one of the reasons they are such a problem when they're introduced to non-native areas). It would also be exciting if they were more prone to aggression. Making them more likely to attack at close range like Moose do would fit the Wild Boar well. When charging, pigs sometimes "bark" at their predators, which would be a cool immersive feature to raise the intensity of a boar attack.
Animation Updates: The animations don't really resemble how pigs move. This is especially present in how it runs. The in-game boar looks awkward when it runs, while they can be surprisingly graceful irl. A small detail that could be added is raising the tail when they run. Wild Boars, as well as Warthogs, sometimes raise their tails into the air as they run. Lastly, introducing death animations to the Wild Boar like what is seen in Moose would make shooting them feel much more grounded. Right now, like many other animals, they often flop to the ground in a very unflattering manner, sometimes not even actually falling (I've had some look like they sat down like a dog instead of falling over).
