#Megatron's TheHunter: Call of the Wild Ideas Forum
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I love the idea of this, I should be able to contribute here soon as uni winds down!
I've posted this in a few other places too, but this is a challenge thing I created/am doing if y'all wanna do it on your own too. basically, you gotta fill up a Spring Creek Manor with these species. there's replacements for some species to fill in for the extinct species not in the game, which you can see at the bottom (that and Bengal Tigers replacing Siberian Tigers since Siberian Tigers aren't in the game)
I'll be making more challenges like this in the future!
Thanks! Can't wait to see your ideas too!
Is this focused more towards prehistory or can we throw down whatever ideas we have in here for discussion?
Any ideas are welcome! Some of my ideas will probably be focused towards prehistory/paleontology due to my huge interest in the topic, but anything is allowed here!
Awesome! I have a lot of ideas for older firearms that could add more variety to the game's weapons, so I'll start posting them here for brainstorming then make dedicated feedback threads on top of that where it's all consolidated.
I have a lot of trophy lodge ideas myself
I also have a lot of animal rework and backfilling ideas if you ever want to help out with that
Sounds great! I'll try to help out wherever/whenever I can!
@modest yoke @versed haven I'm probably gonna make ideas in this forum that correlate with y'all's #1276987171038953503 and #1195097534239088720 forums. I'll post them here and in y'all's forums too
You have my blessing, fire away
Hello Megatron!
It’s awesome to see you creating a space for ideas and challenges—sounds like a lot of fun! I love how you're blending different themes, like prehistoric animals, firearms, and trophy lodge concepts. It’s clear you have a lot of passion for the game, and it’s great to see that you're inviting the community to contribute as well.
If you ever have more specific suggestions, or challenges you'd like to share, feel free to keep posting them here! You’ve also got some fantastic plans with the rework and backfilling ideas, and I’m sure those will spark some great discussions.
If you ever want to explore your ideas further or need a hand with anything, feel free to reach out.
thank you! I currently have a Lion rework idea on the way
Lion Rework
Details
Lions have been in TheHunter: Call of the Wild for nearly 6 years now, being added in the Lion Update on February 5th, 2019. They are one of my favorite species to hunt in the game, and I have several diamond trophies of the species. Despite this, the lions we currently have in the game have their issues and things that could be improved upon, and I have many ideas for how these things could be improved to make the lions of TheHunter: Call of the Wild more modernized and on par with animals on the newer maps in terms of quality, especially the Bengal Tigers and Snow Leopards of Sundarpatan.
Remodel and Fur Rework
While the current lion model in the game isn't necessarily a bad model (it actually worked really well for when it released), there's so many ways it could be improved upon considering how much better the devs have gotten at making models for the animals. First off, different mane sizes based off of level would be nice to see. All lions in the game currently, no matter their size, all have the same mane, so it would be nice to see variations based off of the animal's level. Even different mane variations for each level would be nice to see too so that each lion will feel unique in some way. Another big issue with the lion model is its face. Notable issues of the face are that the eyes are too small and too spread apart from one another, the face is missing some fur patterns around the eyes, the face is overall too wide, the chin could be slightly wider, the nose is the wrong shape slightly, the mane needs to blend with the fur on the face better, and the ears need to be a different shape a little. Lastly, the head overall could be slightly larger. With these improvements, referenced from real lions, the model could look a lot better.
As for a fur rework, we'll first go back to the mane. The fur on the mane is all the same color on the current model, but this isn't what it looks like on actual lions. On actual lions, there's many different strands of fur with varying different colors. The mane overall has different colors too, and can vary from lion to lion (this is something I'll cover more when I get to variations). As for the rest of the body, the lion's fur is actually too colorful. On the males especially, they're too golden and orange. Instead, they should be more of a brown color, which is something seen on real lions. Lionesses also need to be more of a darker brown color too, and should have some light tan/white fur around the neck. Both genders should have some more white fur around the chin, muzzle, and bottom jaw too. The tuft of fur on the tail needs to be a darker brown too. For fur variations, here's what I have down below:
Common:
Brown (Your typical lion, with brown fur and a dark brown mane)
Tan (Less orange and golden than the current Tan ingame. Also a tan mane that's mostly the same color as the body)
Uncommon:
Blonde (Not a white lion, just a lion with a more blonde mane and fur)
Rare:
Timbavati White (Based off of the white lions at Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in South Africa, these lions are white with some patches of very light brown/blonde fur. Males have manes that are a light brown color)
Erythristic (Would be very similar to the Tan fur type, but a more ginger/reddish fur color)
Leucistic (A lion with completely white fur. Differs from the Timbavati White because it doesn't have the light brown/blonde fur patches. The mane is completely white too. Differs from the Albino fur type because its eyes and nose colors are the same as the other lion fur types except for Albino)
Very Rare:
Albino (A lion with all white fur, a pink nose, and blue eyes. The rarest fur type for the animal that isn't a Fabled fur type for my upcoming Great One Lion ideas)
AI Rework
Recently, the Bengal Tiger was added to the game, and it had a huge breakthrough in animal AI in the game. It featured something new that no other predatory animal in the game was able to do, which was hunt the player when the player was nearby. Even though lions were added to the game long before Bengal Tigers, they weren't given AI like this, since the dev team was much smaller and the animal AI in the game was that advanced yet. So, to start this part off, we need a hunting system for the lions. On occasion, they can take down other animals on the savanna when they're hungry. Similar to the tigers, a system where the lions hunt the player when the player is close would be really great to see too, as there has been maneating lions in the past, most notably the Tsavo Man-Eaters of Kenya, a pair of male lions that killed dozens upon dozens of construction workers in 1898. Another big improvement for lion AI in the game would be prides. Prides are large groups of lions, usually led by one or two male lions. Currently, lions ingame are usually alone or in small groups of 3 - 5 individuals. To improve upon this, lion prides of about 13 - 17 individuals, with mostly females and 1 or 2 males, would be nice to see. Lone male lions and lion bachelor groups (groups consisting of multiple males) would be nice to see too.
Audio Rework
Personally, only one thing really needs to be changed with the sounds lions make in the game, and that's the addition of their iconic roar. It could be implemented as the mating call for lions ingame, since these roars are very loud and can travel for long distances. Here's a few videos showing of these roars

Great One Lions
The last thing I think would be needed for a lion rework is the addition of Great One Lions. Great One Lions are something the community has been asking for a long time and is something I'd really love to see ingame. The devs could do a lot with Great One Lion variations, especially with the manes. There could be variants with absolutely massive manes, some with shorter manes, and so on. Fur variants could be very beautiful too. Perhaps the devs could even look in the past, with the massive manes of the Barbary Lions that formerly lived in northern Africa, or even the gigantic Cave Lions and American Lions that roamed Eurasia and North America during the late Pleistocene epoch. I'd love to see y'all's ideas for different Great One Lion variations!
That concludes my ideas for a Lion Rework in the game. Let me know what ideas y'all have too!
Below are many images, including the current lion model ingame, variations of lions in real life, images of lions hunting and prides, and Barbary Lions and reconstructions of Cave Lions/American Lions for possible Great One variants
@versed haven I've been thinking about doing a weapon suggestion thread for a unique rifle that could fit as a mission reward weapon for a new African reserve and was wondering what shape it could take since we now have a .375 H&H coming with the new weapon pack.
My current idea is for a side-hinge trapdoor in the form of a .577 Snider-Enfield since it was widely used by British colonial forces and the various native African armies and militias that sprung up from the 1870s forward. It could work well as an antique heirloom that is handed down to you by the reserve warden or as a reward for completing a secondary mission arc.
For instance, it was used in both Boer Wars. So, it could hypothetically work as a mission reward for a secondary mission line for a character who is descended from a British Army soldier who served in one or both of the Boer Wars. The rifle itself would be that ancestor's service rifle and a family heirloom used for hunting by whatever character for the mission line. My general idea is you complete their secondary mission line, which is mostly centered on up-close work with brush guns and black powder guns on plains game, and then at the end of it you are given it as a gift since he/she trusts you can not only take care of it but also use it.
My current idea is to post it as a reply in the Africa 2.0 thread you have running and also as a standalone with a link to the Africa 2.0 thread.
What's your take on this? Feel free to ask any clarifying questions you need answered.

I'm gonna be working on some species backfilling ideas for several maps. Stay tuned!
more backfills coming soon
Layton Lakes Ancient One Roster

Before we start, this idea is in collaboration with @modest yoke's "Ancient Ones" forum. Go check it out! I'll be reposting this idea in that thread too. This is my take on the possible AO roster that could be on Layton Lakes. All of these species have been found in either Washington, Oregon, or British Columbia, and they come from the Miocene to the Pleistocene epochs

Parque Fernando Ancient One Roster
Details
Before we start, this idea is in collaboration with @modest yoke "Ancient Ones" forum. Go check it out! I'll be reposting this idea in that thread too. This is my take on the possible AO roster that could be on Parque Fernando. All of these species have been found in Argentina, and they come from the Late Cretaceous to Pleistocene epochs
Pleistocene/Holocene Ancient One Species
- Large-Headed Llama (Hemiauchenia paradoxa) (Class 6)
- Hippidion principale (Class 7)
- Smilodon populator (Class 9)
- Arctotherium angustidens (Class 9)
- Toxodon platensis (Class 10)
- Glyptodon clavipes (Class 10)/Doedicurus clavicaudatus (Class 10) (Alternating Spawns)
- Notiomastodon platensis (Class 10)
- Megatherium americanum (Class 10)
Eocene Ancient One Species - Barinasuchus arveloi (Class 10)
Late Cretaceous Ancient One Species - Buitreraptor gonzalezorum (Class 2)
- Jakapil kaniukura (Class 2)
- Skorpiovenator bustingorryi (Class 9)/Ekrixinatosaurus novasi (Class 9) (Alternating Spawns)
- Limaysaurus tessonei (Class 11)
- Giganotosaurus carolinii (Class 11)/Mapusaurus roseae (Class 11) (Alternating Spawns)
- Argentinosaurus huinculensis (Class 12)
I'll be making another one of these very soon! It'll be a La Brea Tar Pits Lodge Challenge!
Can you explain what you mean with alternating spawns please? I'm very very curious on this! I'm sorry if you've explained it before!
basically, alternating spawns would be where one of the two species will spawn every other time you join a server or play on your own map (I'm gonna use my Parque Fernado roster as an example: one time you hop onto the game, your map could have Giganotosaurus, but another time, it could have Mapusaurus, another time it would be Giga again, and then Mapu another time, and so on)
good luck to those who do this challenge!
Aaaah my guy, no impala ?
forgot to include them my bad

Hunting on Trophy Lodge Maps
Details
TheHunter: Call of the Wild has 3 trophy lodges: Spring Creek Manor, Saseka Safari Lodge, and Layton Lakes Trophy Cabin. These lodges are set in their own "maps" separate from the actual maps you hunt on, but what if these lodges were actual maps you could hunt on? I'll be exploring this idea down below
Some notes before we start off
- The Layton Lakes Trophy Cabin won't be getting a species roster/map idea, since it works fairly differently than Spring Creek Manor and Saseka Safari Lodge
- The main lodge would work like an outpost on a regular map
- These maps would be slightly smaller than Salzwiesen Park
- I doubt something like this would actually come to the game
Spring Creek Manor Species Roster
Location Inspiration: England, United Kingdom (Europe)
Returning Species
- Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus) (Class 1)
- Ring-Necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) (Class 1)
- Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) (Class 1)
- Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) (Class 2)
New Species - Lady Amherst's Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) (Class 1)
- American Mink (Neogale vison) (Class 1)
- Pink-Footed Goose (Anser brachyrhynchus) (Class 1)
- Reeves's Muntjac (Muntiacus reevesi) (Class 2)
Saseka Safari Lodge Species Roster
Location Inspiration: Namibia (Africa)
Returning Species
- Scrub Hare (Lepus saxatilis) (Class 1)
New Species - Mourning Collared Dove (Streptopelia decipiens) (Class 1)
- Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris) (Class 1)
- Cape Hare (Lepus capensis) (Class 1)
- Caracal (Caracal caracal) (Class 2)
- Chacma Baboon (Papio ursinus) (Class 3)
New Bengal Tiger Fur Variants
Details
While the Bengal Tigers in the game already have a lot of fur variants (10 of them, 1 being common and the other 9 being rare/very rare), there's some more fur variants I'd like to suggest to add some more variety to the Bengal Tigers
Fur Types
Common:
- Tangerine (Same as the Orange fur type, just slightly more of a yellowish color)
Uncommon: - Apricot (Same as the Orange fur type, just slightly more of a creamish color)
Rare: - Orange Stripeless (Same as the Orange fur type, but without the stripes)
- Tangerine Stripeless (Same as the Tangerine fur type, but without the stripes)
- Apricot Stripeless (Same as the Apricot fur type, but without the stripes)
- Gold Stripeless (Same as the Gold fur type, but without the stripes)
Very Rare: - Melanistic Stripeless (Same as the Melanistic fur type, but without the stripes, since the Melanistic tigers do have stripes. They're just a little hard to see)
- Slate (A greyish color instead of the orange. Similar to the Maltese but has faded stripes like the Gold. Doesn't exist irl. Shown in image 2)
- Maltese (A bluish color instead of the orange. Based off of the cryptid known as the Maltese South China Tiger. As far as we know, this fur variant doesn't exist irl, but the fully Melanistic tigers currently ingame don't exist irl either, which is why I included it here. Shown in image 3)
- Maltese Stripeless (Same as the Maltese fur type, but without the stripes. Would be the rarest Bengal Tiger fur variant ingame. Shown in image 4)
Below are also all of the Bengal Tiger fur variants currently ingame and images of some of the new fur types I suggested (Several of these images are screenshots of a Planet Zoo mod)

Some cool Muley G1 concepts
Whiterime Ridge
Details
Location: De Long Mountains, North Slope Borough, Alaska, United States (North America)
Climate: Cold mountains/valleys covered in snow. Several rivers flow throughout the map, starting up in higher elevations and flowing down to lower elevations. The map is mostly open tundras/grasslands with some patches of forests too
Map Size: Normal
Side Note: Similar to Hirschfelden Hunting Reserve, this is a map idea for a map from Classic being repurposed in COTW. Also, species that are going to be featured on Askiy Ridge that may be in this roster will be listed as returning species since they're confirmed for COTW. Not all species from Whiterime in Classic are on this map idea neither. Due to this map being inland, Polar Bears are rare, though not impossible, since Polar Bears can go inland (their spawns on this map would be similar to Bengal Tigers on Sundarpatan)
Species List
Returning Species:
- Harlequin Duck (Histrionicus histrionicus) (Class 1)
- Rock Ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) (Class 1)
- Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus) (Class 1)
- Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) (Class 1)
- Snow Goose (Anser caerulescens) (Class 1)
- Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) (Class 1)
- Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) (Class 2)
- Gray Wolf (Canis lupus) (Class 6)
- Black Bear (Ursus americanus) (Class 7)
- Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) (Class 8)
- Moose (Alces alces) (Class 8)
New Species: - Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola) (Class 1)
- Spruce Grouse (Canachites canadensis) (Class 1)
- Surf Scoter (Melanitta perspicillata) (Class 1)
- Snowshoe Hare (Lepus americanus) (Class 1)
- Arctic Fox (Vulpes lagopus) (Class 2)
- Wolverine (Gulo gulo) (Class 2)
- Dall Sheep (Ovis dalli dalli) (Class 4)
- Grant's Caribou (Rangifer tarandus groenlandicus) (Class 6)
- Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) (Class 7)
- Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) (Class 9)
Besides the fact that we have an Alaskan map in the form of Yukon Valley, if we got polar bears we would either get them on a Canadian Arctic Map (Like my take on Whiterime Ridge) or Greenland, but I do like the call back to Whiterime in Classic being based on Alaska initially (It does take some details from elsewhere but Alaska is the main inspiration from what I remember reading).
I also noticed your idea for hunting around the trophy lodge and I really like the Spring Creek Manor Species Roster, though with the Saseka Species Roster I feel like Chacma Baboon would work better on a larger map, thankfully Vervet Monkeys have a similar reputation for causing problems (And are found in the far south of Namibia alongside the Scrub Hare). I would also like to think a smaller antelope like the Steenbok and Common Duiker would also fit in the woody areas surrounding Saseka. Overall this would be a cool concept for the two trophy lodges and any future trophy lodges
thanks. glad you like the hunting around the trophy lodge ideas I made. as for the Whiterime Ridge idea I did, I can see why Polar Bears prolly wouldn't fit the best for it since it's an inland map. i mainly set it in Alaska since Whiterime in Classic is set in Alaska. i honestly don't think the devs would add my idea for Whiterime into COTW tho because we already have Yukon Valley like you said
I’m gonna be making some more ideas here in the morning. Not rn because it’s really late for me, but still
Got a bunch of cool ideas in mind. New trophy lodges and trophy lodges customization, map reworks, and so on
Also, if any of the ideas I have made here or any ideas I make in the future seem outlandish for this game, I do apologize. I’m just really passionate for TheHunter Call of the Wild and I have a lot of cool ideas for it that I think the community would love/help make the game one of the best hunting games ever made
Terra mounts!!!!!
Map Reworks
Details
Map reworks are an idea I had that gives maps in the game a complete overhaul/makeover/TLC to make them look better overall. While I do think all of the maps (except for Askiy Ridge since it hasn't released yet) could use some new features (mainly species), the older maps really need overhauls and such.
Some new features included in map reworks:
- New species/Backfills
- Reworks/remodels to species already on the map
- New outposts
- New scenery and updates to the environment
I don't see these reworks happening to all maps in one update, as it would be too much work, but rather, one map being reworked once in a while. Also, since my map reworks will include new backfill ideas, my previous backfill ideas for maps will become obsolete and I will be deleting them.
The first map rework I will make is for Layton Lake District. Stay tuned!
Layton Lakes District Map Rework
Details
Location: Pacific Northwest (North America)
Map Size: Normal
Notes:
- Replacements of current species would have updated models too
- New species coming with Askiy Ridge may be on this map
- Despite many species being narrowed down into subspecies, species that were narrowed down but have Great Ones will still have Great Ones like before (Example: all Whitetail Deer subspecies will have a Great One Whitetail still), just with updated models if needed
Species List
Returning Species:
- Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) (Class 1)
- White-Tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus townsendii) (Class 1) (Remodel/Fur Rework)
- Merriam Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo merriami) (Class 1) (Remodel/Plumage Rework)
- Blacktail Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) (Class 4) (Remodel/Fur Rework)
- Roosevelt Elk (Cervus canadensis roosevelti) (Class 7) (Remodel/Fur Rework)
Replacements of Current Species: - Coyote (Canis latrans) (Class 2) --> Northwest Coast Coyote (Canis latrans umpquensis) (Class 2)
- Whitetail Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) (Class 4) --> Columbian Whitetail Deer (Odocoileus virginianus leucurus) (Class 4)
- Black Bear (Ursus americanus) (Class 7) --> Olympic Black Bear (Ursus americanus altifrontalis) (Class 7)
- Moose (Alces alces) (Class 8) --> Western Moose (Alces alces andersoni) (Class 8)
Returning (Backfill) Species: - Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) (Class 1)
- Ring-Necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) (Class 1)
- Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) (Class 1)
- Common Raccoon (Procyon lotor) (Class 2)
- North American Beaver (Castor canadensis) (Class 2)
- Mountain Lion (Puma concolor couguar) (Class 5)
New Species:
16. Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) (Class 1)
17. Western Bobcat (Lynx rufus fasciatus) (Class 2)
18. British Columbia Wolf (Canis lupus columbianus) (Class 6)
19. Kermode Bear (Ursus americanus kermodei) (Class 7)
Fishing/Aquatic Species:
20. Pacific Lamprey (Entosphenus tridentatus) (Fishing Class 1)
21. Coastal Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss irideus) (Fishing Class 2)
22. Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) (Fishing Class 2)
23. Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) (Fishing Class 3)
New Outposts
- An outpost located beside the watch tower at the Mount Leviathan lake.
- An outpost located at the lake south of Mount Kraken.
New Scenery
- The conifer forests in Balmont, Roonachee, and Mount Kraken are replaced by deciduous forests made up of various deciduous trees like Oregon White Oaks (Quercus garryana), Red Alders (Alnus rubra), and Bigleaf Maples (Acer macrophyllum). Conifer forests just like before the rework are still present in Mount Leviathan, High Lake, Cheelah, Calburn, Willipeg, Chopeeka, and Norden.
Other Features
- This rework would introduce two new Great Ones, that being the Roosevelt Elk and Chinook Salmon.
- The ambient species that cannot be hunted will be removed, similar to how the weasels on MedVed were removed.
To start with the good
• The New Outpost would be nice inclusions
• Great One Roosevelt Elk would make a lot of the elk people happy
• White-tailed Deer subspecies would make a lot of sense considering that Coue’s Deer are highly requested for Rancho
As for the things that I have to say something about
• Layton Lakes has been basically confirmed to be based on the Washington and Oregon area, which means that the Kremode Bear, a subspecies exclusive to the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia and the Western Moose, a subspecies that mainly exist in Canada with the Midwest being the only area in the lower 48 to have that subspecies, would not make sense for Layton Lakes
• I will point out that Shiras Moose occur in the Western US from Washington and Idaho down to Nevada, Utah and Colorado and would be a better fit
• With Dusky Grouse coming on Askiy Ridge, having the Sooty Grouse on Layton would be a better fit then Pheasant imo
Overall though, Layton Lakes needs something
👍
Thanks for the feedback my friend. I just did species from the Pacific Northwest in general, mainly since I couldn’t find any specific states/provinces that Layton was located in
Gonna do another one of these either tonight or tomorrow. Idk what map I’m gonna do yet exactly but it’ll either be Rancho or Hirschfelden prolly
Prolly Rancho most likely because there’s a lot of things that could be done to Rancho
before i do other map reworks, I have another idea I would like to make/suggest. Bit of a constroversial one for this game, but here we go:
Fishing in TheHunter: Call of the Wild
Details
The inclusion of fishing in TheHunter: Call of the Wild has been a hot/controversial topic in the game's community, with many people wanting fishing in the game and many others thinking fishing should be in a different game entirely. With Call of the Wild: TheAngler no longer being in development due to various reasons, I think now is a good time to suggest it for COTW instead. I will be presenting my ideas for fishing in COTW, and the pros and cons of my ideas being implemented into the game. I will be adding a fishing species roster to my Layton Lakes map rework species roster as well as future map rework species rosters and possibly ideas for new maps I'll make
New features included with fishing:
- New species/Backfills
- Various new "weapons"/fishing tools like fishing rods, spearfishing guns, and harpoon guns
- A new fishing/bait system overall
- The ability to display fish taxidermy in your lodge as well as possibly displaying species in aquariums in your lodge
- Vehicles for fishing, such as boats
- Possibly a new trophy lodge with aquariums and such
- Possibly new maps more focused on fishing
PROS for Fishing in TheHunter: Call of the Wild:
- Plenty of new content for players to enjoy, which could create more attraction to the game than previously
- New goals for players to complete
- A wider variety of experiences that the game can provide
- Would make COTW one of the more unique hunting/fishing games, as most modern games don't feature both hunting and fishing
CONS for Fishing in TheHunter: Call of the Wild:
- A lot of new content/coding/so on would need to be implemented for fishing, which could increase the workload on the devs and limit how many maps are made
- Possible controversy among the community, since several players don't want fishing in the game
- Possible title change/rebrand for the game
Fishing Classes (Based on Length)
Fishing Class 1: 0 - 0.9 m (0 - 3 ft)
Fishing Class 2: 0.9 - 1.8 m (3 - 6 ft)
Fishing Class 3: 1.8 - 3 m (6 - 10 ft)
Fishing Class 4: 3 - 4.5 m (10 - 15 ft)
Fishing Class 5: 4.5 - 5.7 m (15 - 19 ft)
Fishing Class 6: 5.7 - 7.3 m (19 - 24 ft)
added fishing/aquatic species to this too
I have a whole list of fish I would like to see if fishing was added to the game (List was updated for Askiy Ridge)
- Layton Lakes: Coho Salmon, Steelhead Trout, Northern Pikeminnow, Largescale Sucker, Cutthroat Trout & Kokanee Salmon
- Hirschfelden: Common Carp, Northern Pike, Zander, Common Bream, European Perch & Common Roach

- Emerald Coast: Barramundi, Gulf Saratoga, Australian Bass, King Threadfin, Bull Shark & Bluefish
- Sundarpatan: Golden Mahseer, Goonch, Trout Barb, Bullseye Snakehead, Common Snowtrout & Silver Mahseer
- Salzwiesen Park: European Eel, European Flounder, Thicklip Grey Mullet, European Perch, Zander & Common Bream
- Askiy Ridge: Bull Trout, Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Walleye & Northern Cisco
really nice rosters you got here. bet there's a lot they could do with coastal maps too
Though I do think a game that combines hunting and fishing would be easier
- Some maps could be geared more towards fishing with the potential for a "Cast & Blast" map that has fishing and wingshooting, and a Hawaiian Map would be even better
- Some maps could be geared more towards hunting with some maps having the potential for their own McNab Challenge (In Scotland it was 1 Red Deer, a brace of Red Grouse and a Salmon on a fly, and in Africa that can easily be an Impala, a brace of Sandgrouse and a tigerfish)
- And the multi-mounts would be awesome
Dude the multi-mounts would be INSANE
Putting together the roster for Medved and Parque required a lot of Google research to put together.
Like a really cool mount for a map with Alligators could be one where one is holding a dead Gator Gar in its mouth or something like that
Afaik too, only two other games that I know of have fishing and trophy lodges, that being the two Ultimate Fishing Simulator games, and even then, the trophy lodge system in that game isn’t customizable really at all because the fish having assigned spots in the lodge, so that would be another bonus for COTW having fishing since COTW has customizable trophy lodges where you can put anything wherever in the lodge as long as the plaque you put them on is the correct size
also, the possibility of Great One fish species too lol
Also, there’s no games that have both hunting and fishing that provide a trophy lodge for players too
The only game ik of that has hunting and fishing is Red Dead Redemption 2, and even then, it doesn’t have a trophy lodge because of the game’s style
I can think of 3 Cabela's games with hunting and fishing, and while they all had a way to look at your trophies, customization was non-existent and Cabela's Outdoor Adventures 2009 did not have a trophy room of sorts. Cabela's Outdoor Adventures 2005 has the "Deer country" which only displays the every deer you shot on a specific map alongside the big game animal and small game animal (no fish). Alaskan Adventures has its exhibition hall that did feature mounted fish but again, no customization and being older games means that they fall short when compared to thehunter COTW
Ah. I’ve heard of those games. Forgot they had both mb lol
The only Cabela’s game I ever played was Big Game Hunter 2010 for the Wii, the one where you put the Wii remote into that plastic orange replica gun. Used to play that game all the time when I was little
That’s the game that got me into hunting games and just hunting in general
Funny enough Cabela’s got me into hunting and a kid (and interest that has existed for almost 2 decades and yet I only begun attempting to hunt 2 years ago with no success)
More specifically Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2 and Cabela’s Alaskan Adventures
I started hunting in 2021. Got my first deer that year
I haven’t had any success since then tho lol
Hopefully this year I’ll get something!
Rancho Del Arroyo Map Rework

Notes:
- Replacements of current species would have updated models too

- Both Mexican Wolves and Jaguars (Species 18 and 19) have rare spawns on this map, similar to the Bengal Tigers on Sundarpatan

New Outposts
- No new outposts are needed in my opinion.
New Scenery
- Less giant shrubs across the map overall/more small shrubs to increase visibility for players.
- More large cacti across the map.
- More rocky terrain towards the eastern part of the map
Other Features
- This rework would introduce two new Great Ones, that being the Bighorn Sheep (all subspecies across all maps) and Jaguar.
- Dust storms can occasionally happen on the map, which can limit the ability to see animals greatly.
a new map for "cast and blast" could prolly work in somewhere like Louisiana, even tho we already got Mississippi
Like Louisiana has a bunch of waterfowl and is coastal too so plenty of fish species
doesn't confirm anything but still 👀
no bison backfill?
Couldn’t find any sources on bison in the Sonoran desert. No range maps showed them there
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0JMzdMm31yk&pp=ygUJI2VhdGVycHQy here’s an episode of MeatEater where Steven Rinella hunts a bison on a ranch in Sonora, where Rancho is set at. I think a limited population could be justified on Rancho.
i love that show. forgot about that episode. i'll go ahead and add them
Good series.
